Have you noticed that the Taildragger version has an annoying tendency to do the “dolphin dance” (nose up, nose down, and so on…) when using autopilot?
Other versions don’t do this.
With my modified “flight_model.cfg” file, this behavior has almost disappeared.
Almost, because during certain phases of flight (i.e. climb or descent) it’s still present, but very attenuated, and the aircraft quickly stabilizes.
That’s the end of nausea…
In the txt file you’ll also find a way to change the ASI (AirSpeed Indicator) in knots rather than mph.
Just to update you guys on the Rans S6S. I have been for quite some time in back and forth with microsoft and its an exhausting process sometimes. It takes time. Finally I am getting into a testing phase and should be pretty soon on marketplace. After the marketplace release this little plane should get a next update getting floats and take as much as possible things from your wishlist’s into account. I am working on a next project also and it goes slow considering am a single dev. Wanted to update you that this is very much a live project and will get possibly more update in future. Thank you all…
Hello Guys! Just want to anounce that RANS S6S is now finaly available on marketplace for both PC and XBOX. :). Now after this milestone is achieved I wil continue working on this plane and deliver next update with exciting new features soon. Thx everyone for the support!
Been flying it a lot as it’s now available as a starter plane in NeoFly and I started a new career. Can’t wait to see the updates, it’s really nicely done already!
I too have been enjoying this excellent plane lately after only recently discovering it, thanks to the awesome ‘Pee-Wee and Nag’ thread. Looking forward to the floats!
I bought it during the recent sale and I don’t understand how this little gem doesn’t get more attention. I think it’s one of the finest flight model I’ve flown in the sim, and I dare to say the best under the ultralight category. It’s behavior during the bumpy rides in these early summer days is exactly as I remember IRL.
Although it doesn’t offer a deep simulation of the rotax engine, the temps and press seems correctly. The inclusion in the manual of a brief, but useful, information on the performance and fuel consumption of the aircraft is something that I especially appreciated.
And the 3D model and the textures are great.
I only miss two things: a state saving feature and a variation with a muddy worn-out look.
Yeah totally. If this had some little extra bells and whistles it would be right up there with the best. As it stands now, what it does, it does nigh-on perfectly and I really REALLY like it, but I wish it had a little bit more meat on the bones to elevate it.
On the other hand, I appreciate that it is polished within the scope of what it has got. Much rather that than a load of features that don’t quite work right. And yes the flight model is LUSH. And that is the most important thing, so I cannot complain!
Hello guys. I am fallowing your comments and suggestions here carefully. I am also working to set up my discord so you can ask me questions there directly. Will be up soon.
Just an update on the current state of development. Floats are already been done and are ready but as usual I decided to expand on the things and actually try to incorporate as much of the features you suggested. Yes rans is getting more depth as we speak and engine wear will be part of the next update too. :). I am working on delivering it to you to the best of my ability. I cant say if full save states will be incorporated but if I dont manage it now with this update will be certainly primary directive in next update. Thank you all for the support!
I don’t think that is the path to take with S6S. There is already a lot of features incorporated with this new upcoming update that will elevate it. Usually this aircraft is very simple IRL and I try to keep it that way in the sim and actually contrast it in a way from other similar aircraft. There is a lot of UL airplanes with overkill avionics in msfs and having one that will actually make you fly it with head out of the cockpit is a good thing That is what S6S is for…
There is enough in AERA that you can do to help you navigating and even do procedures.
However, this complex avionics is something that is certainly gona be a part of my next product.
