FlyByWire Simulations | A380X alpha | Discussion

I suggest not to respond to all these negative comments. Its only a very small minority that unfortunately can’t see the amazing accomplishment from the FBW team. The more you pay attention the more they will post.
I am simply speechless how fantastic the A380 alrrady is. I have learned so much following the development of sim planes over the years.

Agree and I do appreciate freeware creators, I 've been flying the FBW A320 a lot as it’s really up to standard. I guess I just don’t like this borderless praxis of shipping stuff. It’s like whatever that is constructed, just send it out, who care for quality. This is a matter of professionalism and has zero to do with economy.

There could be different approaches. Release a simple version that don’t carry that much functionality, but still works, and then increase the functionalty with new releases. Kind of in the same way as the A320 has been shipped out.

Anyone knows why AP disconnects soon after I engage speed brake during descent? Two flights and the same behaviour from the AP.

Enable the tiller in the EFB it helps a lot. Then map a spare axis to Tiller.

some people just need to chill, dont forget the A380 is an Alpha release at this time. Just like the FBW A320 after its release, it only got better with time. And this A380 will also become much better as it gets further developed. Patience is all that is required.

It could be the team is exposing an alpha version to get accurate report from the simmers community before adding next feature. This is not an universal way and we still are seeing some addons not fixed through months and years !!
We would consider this approach as a better one, to add stages allowing in deep fixes before next stage of features …
IDK what and how I would perform, if I had any intention to publish a free aircraft to the community, though …

Hello, first I want to say thank you for this great plane, however I am having some issues with the throttle calibration. I was able to calibrate the throttle axis so that when at the lowest setting it would be at idle instead of going into reverse thrust, but for some reason the plane reaches full thrust when my throttle axis is only about halfway up and no matter how many times i’ve tried calibratting it I cnat get it to work. The joystick I use is the Thrustmaster T.Flight Stick X which ony has a single throttle axis which I set in the EFB.

Thanks

turn off the option on top named - Reverse on throtle axis and asign a push button for that liek togle for reverse or hold for reverse that works for me

Thanks will try that

That’s up to them to decide. I’m happy to have it and fly it as is.

It’s better than some “final” products that are payware. Well done to the developers, what’s released so far is amazing and will get better.

There have been enough “simple A380s” released over the years, finally we get a proper one.

The naysayers talk about not getting rewards for effort, but what have they released that even does 30% of this addon? The FlyByWire team are delivering, not just talking.

This feature seems to require a bit of fix and adjustment to work properly and I also found difficulties to achieve making it work for reverses. (eventually not working on my rig)
I guess the best would be to follow @Aplayer58 advice and bind reverses out of axis handling, at least for the moment until fixed

I partially agree with you, because A380X is free does not mean it’s free from criticism. We are not in elementary school where kids get a reward for effort.
But on the other hand you and I didn’t lose any money, so it’s not a big deal.

After two full flights I will put this plane to hangar and wait for further improvements. VNAV and autopilot are messed up at the moment making descend and approach unpredictable. The plane does what it wants, not what I instruct it to do. I am back to Fenix.

Thanks, however I’m confused by your response. I’m not trying to to to anything with the reversers. I’m trying to make it so that thrust matches the throttle postion. As it is now the plane will reach full thrust with my throttle axis only being halfway instead of full forward. I clicked the toga option in the callibration menu and set my axis to full power then clickes apply and save but that didn’t seemt to work.

ah orry i got confused ahahah my bad
did you downlaod the 12.1 update?

Did you already set eaxh single stage of lever position ?

I can partially attest to this bahaviour. Especially while descending on the STAR just before turning onto final, it seems to have a tendency to prioritise slowing down the aircraft down over descending (this is in auto/managed mode too). So I find that when I intuitively as a last resort (when a bit high), hit the speedbrakes to try to increase the decent rate, the aircraft is already quite slow so it doesn’t descend as fast as I’d like it to and if left unchecked it can end up worrisomely close to pitching up/alpha floor. I end up having to put the speed into manual mode instead of managed mode and increasing target airspeed by 20kts, then I can use the speed brakes to increase the descent rate, which works. It just seems a bit weird to me. The only alternative would be to jump into V/S mode instead, but VNAV/managed mode is supposed to be controlling all of this, and it isn’t doing a great job in this scenario. Either that or I’m doing something completely wrong in this regard. It seems to be happening quite a lot though, and I can’t quite figure out what I’m doing wrong.

Just a side note regarding the sim rate. I was in a situation where I was locked at Sim Rate 1x despite the fact that I was getting 30 fps. I found the solution was to disable the autopilot which then unlocked the sim rate. I was then able to change it to 2x and then I reenabled the autopilot and the sim rate remained at 2x.

Sorry, but the only people who need to wake up are those who are clearly told by the developer the plane is still a work-in-progress and issues will be encountered yet download the plane and then complain that it is poorly made and/or doesn’t work.

Every time I do use speed brakes, AP turns off and the plane starts pitching up.
