Flyinside B206 B3 Discussion

Another question if I may… I suppose the modelled version is neither equipped with the optional trim kit (there isn’t a supplemental kiy as per a POH I found) nor the optional SAS kit…

Question then, what do the controls feel like (since I want to model it with ffb)? Since it is hydraulic I suppose there is constant resistance across the cyclic range (not like a springed cyclic), correct? Or does it artificially create a springed center (like the force trim system on the 407) that can be trimmed away?

Or none of the above?

How much resistance is there in the cyclic?

Edit: @RotorRick00 maybe this is something you could answer since you own the real thing

Doubt it. I don’t see why it needs WASM when they can just use the native flight model like others are doing.

Because their own flight model is far superior to the Asobo native one.

The helicopter flight model in MSFS is fairly new and no doubt will get tweaked in the future. I’m sure Flyinside has had its own flight model developed or in development for a while. Rather than say it is ‘far superior’ and given the limited use of the Asobo model, I would wait to have comparisons with the Cowan B206 which if I am correct will be using the Asobo model (probably one of the first commercial Helicopters to do so). I want to hear the comparison from experienced independent Helicopter pilots how they compare.

Again, doubt it. But from what I saw, the 206 is superior to the 407.

Whoever did the 407 for the 40th clearly rushed through it. The proof is in the difference between the 407 and Cabri G2.

But again, I have my doubts the 206 will come to Xbox, because I doubt many devs will want to essentially “rebuild” their products just to work with Xbox WASM.

Hi, I have GPS black all the time.
Besides, how can I level artificial horizon?
Thanks

Make sure you have the Working Title 430 installed from Content Manager and that should fix the black GPS.

For the artificial horizon, make sure the Gyro switch is turned on, on the ceiling panel.front left.

No idea why you doubt it. They have said themselves that the Asobo flight model doesn’t (yet) have enough parameters to faithfully recreate helicopter physics properly.

Flyinside have been working on Heli flight models long before Asobo were on the scene. I have no doubt whatsoever that their flight model is far more refined than Asobos. Both releases so far are helis owned and flown by the devs. They know how they fly and how to make them as realistic as possible for the sim. If the Asobo model was better you can be certain they would use it… It makes no sense commercially not to use it if it were superior as they are missing out on all those xbox sales currently.

Doubt away then. Have fun!

GPS and Horizon - solved.
But how to avoid hot start???
I increase RPM slowly, but when IDLE REL pops up it is already 25 %.
Hmmm?

Done an hour in it so far and impressed with the flight model, not tried a cold start yet, will save that for tomorrow.

Awesome! The way to do this is leave throttle closed until N1 reaches 15%. Then briskly turn straight to 30%. If you take too long introducing fuel, or do it too early, you risk a hot start.

As already mentioned, the GPS goes black after a while after doing a cold start. Now I found that when doing a cold start, and you land the logbook screen comes up immediately upon touchdown (either it flashes briefly or comes up permanently). Maybe the simulator believes that the aircraft is shut down, and maybe that also why the GPS goes black. Btw I’m using the latest update of today.

VR cockpit focus (aka VR zoom) does not seem to be implemented. Hopefully the devs will consider implementing it, because it is really helpful for VR pilots when working the GPS unit and reading small instruments.

Yes you’re onto something. We’re finding certain situations where the sim thinks the engine is off. We should have an update in the near future to get this fixed up.

PS we’ll look into VR cockpit focus, because that does sound very useful

Devs, do you think there is space for further FPS optimization? It is much harder than B407 :frowning:

Yes we’ll be working on it for sure.

Hello everyone. It’s a new day and there’s a new helicopter out for MSFS! Today we are taking a look at the Bell 206 Jet Ranger by FlyInside!
Join me as we take it for a flight near the Kennedy Space Center!
Happy Holidays everyone! Merry Christmas :christmas_tree:

Another minor issue (minor because it can be corrected user-side): in VR, the default viewpoint is about 20cm too far back. My virtual upper body is buried halfway in the back wall of the cockpit.

I LOVE this heli  But one thing I found (at least on my system) is, that after a flight when you want to return to the main menu MSFS “hangs”… the progress bar wanders to the right but even after 10 minutes I am stuck at the loading screen.
Does anybody else have this? I tried it with different airports/regions as well… I also tried to close the heli manager before exiting to main menu but this also didnt do the trick.
