Just done a first flight with the GTN750 version and it captured GS and LOC nicely enough. I normally use the GNS530 version and the TDS GTN750XI in touchscreen mode on another monitor. A daft question with the GNS version though. How do you select APP mode on the autopilot for a LOC approach? I have flown manual approaches or RNAV to date, through the GTN.
This happens to me as well. I typically end up keeping my airspeed up around 120 till I’m ready to come off of AP to avoid the nose-dive.
Tune the ILS freq in the GNS, set VLOC on GNS, NAV on AP and approach course on HSI. AP will recognize LOC and GS and follow it. I’ve flown successful ILS approaches that way.
Also, with 1.4.3 altitude capture is working again with the GNS530. The more I fly, the more I love this plane.
Thanks a bunch. I was thinking it might work something like this, but am not near the PC at the moment. Like you, I think the aircraft is superb and will get better too. Can’t wait for it to behave a little better with my Streamdecks though.
ADF knobs are not working with 530.
Just shot the ILS for Rwy 25 @ KOXR. Flew a left downwind pattern and intercepted the PARDS waypoint when turning base @ 1,500 feet, letting the AP take over once I had needle movement. Captured LOC and let the needle for the GS come down to just above center. Engaged APR and the GS annunciator lit; AP captured the GS and started the descent. I had two notches of flaps in and gear down, with props full fine and MP at the bottom of the green arc. Airspeed was right at blueline. Because it was not only windy but gusty, I kept airspeed up and did not use full flaps. Pulled power back slowly to the stops once over the threshold. Landing was smooth and straight at about 60 knots.
I’d say that Hotfix 1.4.3 works very well.
Using the PMS50 GTN750 avionics package.
Thx that’s good to know. Haven’t been able to get the 1.4.3 yet due to the downloading issue still using 1.4.2 and got ALT hold issues. I also need to try VOR capture again as that’s fixed now too.
After a week or so, all I can say that this is a thoroughly enjoyable aircraft which in the context of MSFS and even as a beta, has already given me value for money and it is going to get better too. That Milviz 310 is going to have to work very well indeed to top this.
Is there anybody who could get the Fuel Computer to properly display the amount of fuel remaining? I am pretty sure I entered the amount of fuel properly before starting. Verified the amount and all looked okay. However, while flying the amount of gallons or pounds remaining does not change.
It doesn’t work for me either but I saw on a avsim that the developer knows about but is focussing on more important fixes at the moment. Hopefully should be fixed before too long though.
Is anyone else having problems with the AP button on the GNS530? It’s not clickable for me.
There is a separate button below the Throttle controls for Auto Pilot on/off
I’ll have a look, thank you.
Still seeing way to many fingerprints on the windscreen
I think the ground crew should be fired.
The excessive fingerprinting seems to appear when the windshield or OAT is very cold, and disappears when anti-ice for the windscreen is switched on. At least that’s what I’ve noticed.
Do you mean you can’t bu d certain functions? I’ve noticed this too, I really hope they make all the standard stuff bindable (eg Autopilot functions)
Yup. I really hope that these functions are available for external hardware, or even that a lost of variables and what have you, could be made available from all developers, to enable integration with peripherals. Actually, that might not be a bad idea…
Thankyou for that, I really dislike dirty windows.
