Not to mention if you are going to lock out anyone with less than 12-16GB of VRAM from enjoying the simulator, that’s a huge amount of their actual market. I know there are a lot of dedicated people in here rocking up with their massive 24GB VRAM cards, but that’s very very far from the norm.
“Misleading” suggests they were fully aware that the sim wasn’t going to work on lesser computers. It’s possible, but I prefer to believe they really had no idea how the new sim was going to run on those computers.
- Failed to properly Beta test.
- Poor top-down project management, with a focus on meeting a deadline instead of releasing a product that was ready for the market.
- Probably a lack of internal feedback mechanisms involving regression testing.
My word is: Unprepared.
Well the people who bought the sim based on the posted requirements were indeed mislead in any case. Doesn’t matter why they were mislead, as long as the requrements are incorrect.
If you fail to properly test the simulator that it actually runs on the hardware you say it is going to you are misleading people, it doesn’t have to be intentional.
Make a test and spin the world to any land based location. Now zoom in to max level. Zoom back out to another location. Do it 3 or 4 times and watch your VRAM filling up even before you are in your aircraft.
That happened yesterday to me. I will test this later today again. But I would like to see if this goes for everyone. If it does, it would be highly recommended to use the world as less as possible before a flight.
Devs, these are not normal.
Here is 7900xtx 24gb
People experiencing crazy crashes, their pc freezes, their monitors goes black, they can hear game sound looping at background, some of them waits 5+ minutes to game to Quit, there are tcpip.sys errors with system freezes, there are GameInput Service (GameInputSvc)(Windows creates 2 Gameinput services) with PC freezes/crashes. These people need to Hard reset their PCs most of the time or fully restart. There are more. Edit: Both Squirrel and twotonemurphy had crazy crashes while streaming live on twitchtv, pls ask them how they pc totally freezed and crashed, what they found out. Just 5mins ago squirrel Crashed again and now trying to find out what caused it.
There is this Ram usage craziness going on even with 96gb Rams > Constant stutters at majority of airports with the latest patch (1.2.7.0)
You can’t call it simply a Hardware Limitation and ignore everything happening with your game. This is not a simple 3060 12gb vs 4060 8gb issue.
If anyone using Nvidia Gpus and want to report this issue to Nvidia Driver Team >
Please submit a feedback - How to
Please let Manual@Nvidia know this issue Here
Even posting here will get some attention from driver team and community members testing issues/bugs/drivers HERE and HERE
Show them this Vram Bug topic, show them your Msi afterburner Hardware Monitor results while this issue happens. Let them know this is happening.
Edit: Devs, another example Low gpu wattage =low fps. But why?
I think I know where the problem comes from, at least for me it worked. game without mod, no dlls 3.8.10 integrity check game file on steam, I’m on ryzen7800X3D RTX 4080S 64 Ram the image comes from Paris last night all in ultra but really all.
the bug comes from the chosen server, you must not leave it in automatic, you must define the best server for you depending on the region you are in and if you deactivate multiplayer it is even better, image before and after changing server, the fps remains stable even if vram and almost saturated.
I did see in the developer discussion post that @SeedyL3205 stated that that big logged is dated from 12/4. So, anything that is being worked on hasn’t been updated. He encouraged anyone that has bugs to continue contributing so that they can keep updating the devs.
I did mention him on the post asking for feedback on this very bug. Hopefully he can motivate the devs to give us an update.
Update. 2nd flight where the graphic driver crashes and everything goes “black” mid flight. I have to resize the simulator window to recover it.
Additionally. To all that are newly joined on this bug. Welcome!
Please see me testing. We want to try to give specific. Examples. So far what has allowed me to have extended flights is turning off Ray Tracing shadows, and no AI traffic whatsoever.
We are asking everyone to post their results with the Default KJFK with the Inibuilds parked at a gate.
Please post those findings here with your system specs and screenshot of your settings.
image taken after changing the server, even if the vram is almost saturated the fps does not drop. hope this helps you.
It’s a matter of perspective.
If I make mistakes that cause you to spend money on a product you’re not happy with, and those mistakes were not meant to deceive, then I didn’t mislead you.
If you buy my product, and you aren’t happy with it because it didn’t meet the expectations you felt I set for it, then you may perceive that I misled you.
It’s a semantic argument either way.
Here’s something that I find confusing: I loaded into ‘Free Flight’ and stopped at the World Map. You can see that my GPU is at 99% load, and the 3D graph shows activity. I see 100+ FPS. It stays like this for a little while, then the GPU drops to 11%, and I see 10 FPS, no 3D activity, and reported latency jumps to 100ms. Both Main Thread and GPU latency numbers remain low.
As soon as I click on the World Map again it goes back to 99% GPU, 3D activity, and 100+ FPS. This cycle will repeat.
I had exactly the same results (100+ FPS, high 3D activity, followed by 10 FPS and no 3D activity) when I first loaded into the World Map, and after 60 minutes without touching anything.
Probably a Dev Mode issue, right?
2024 has a built in low power mode, i know for a fact that when it looses focus it goes into low power, maybe it has something to do with that, if you leave it idling
It is indeed semantic and not of great importance. I think we can agree that it’s unfortunate that we are in this situation regardless.
Hello guys
Sometimes I watch some videos of wonderful flights and amazing landings and I wonder how they do it, because I have been able to land the 737 only once since I bought this… thing; I don´t even know how to call it, which was the day after its launch, and that was the only time I was able to fly, i´ve never been able to fly after that. I see myself in your comments, I´ve tried everything to make this thing work, and I come to the forum and see all your tips trying to figure out how to get better performance but the thing is, nothing works, and it is unfair because we were sold something that was supposed to be the best of the best. I would like to say I´m going back to FS 2020, but not even that, because that other one doesn´t work as it used to before the launching of FS 2024. It´s a pitty. I remember when Fs 2020 was launched it was exactly the same, a lot of bugs, CTD every other day, but at least it was flyable, and it was solved and in the end it was a very good simmulator, and I know it´s gonna be exactly the same with this one, and sooner or later they´re gonna make it work, but to be honest, it´s taking too long.
Not happening to me. Don’t know why.
IniBuilds A320 NEO(V2)
KJFK
I started by spinning the globe around and stopping over the airport.
VRAM goes up when I zoom in, which is to be expected. But repeated zooms don’r really affect VRAM usage.
The last thing I did was let the screen sit for an hour while zoomed in. No change, except for the weird drop in GPU usage after staying static on the zoomed in airport. Maybe the GPU just doesn’t have anything to do, so the sim drops FPS.
No Zoom
1 Zoom
2 Zooms
10 Zooms
Absolutely agree.
Yeah, seems like it was a fluke. Couldn’t recreate it today.
32 GB is enough.
64 GB only necessary if you install and run lots of extra addons.
MSFS2024 alone don’t need it.
