i ran repeatedly into crashs of the FS2020 where the symptoms are that the screen freezes but the audio continues. While the fs2020 is seemingly dead I can open other programmes or even start a new Desktop via WindowsKey+Tab.
Once the issue occured 3 times a day, after flying only 10 minutes
then nothing for a few days.
Has that occured to anyone else or am I the only one with that issue?
I have quite a powerful rig (5800x/RTX 3080, Drivers/BIOS/Chipset are up to date)
I should add that I m using VR Reverb G2, so that might be related to it. I m still trying to identify the root of the issue.
MSFS freezes nearly everytime when I’m on the approach. Sound continues but the picture is frozen. After three minutes or so everything is back to normal and I can land. During these three minutes the download rate is dropped to zero.
I have had the same problem the last 3 or 4 days. Multiple good flights and then a screen freeze, audio continues, and have to use Task manager to shut MSFS down. Everything else continues to run. CPU for MSFS goes to 6-8% and stays there. This happens on approach. Mine never recovers, I have to eventually close program with task manager,
I’ve same issues too. Randomly MSFS freezes and the audio continues. MSFS seems not responding and CPU usage is about 7%.
I think that this issue happens mostly when i fly with GTN750. Is that the same for you?
The same happens to me.
I have tried with CRJ7 and with A320 FlybyWire. While I make the taxi, the simulator stops but the sound continues. I have always been connected to IVAO.
It has been happening to me for a few days… Maybe with the new update…
I’m desperate and I don’t know what to do. The simulator had always worked fine.
I have reported similar experiences. I has happened with the FWB A20N on IVAO network. I have a much weaker system, but have had no problems earlier (apart from stuttering when graphics were too intense and perhaps there was a lot of IVAO traffik around). But I don’t use VR som that is not the cause. All drivers up to date. All the same I have performed flights in between and after that were successful.
I found I have the same problem and I found it lies in your internet connection. I tried a couple of different things and found that the live AI traffic draws a lot of broadband so check if you have a high enough internet connection.
Just experienced same problem. PMDG Boeing 737-800, in flight, manually entering waypoints for complicated STAR. When I pressed “EXEC” on MCDU, screen froze, but sound continued. CPU usage for FS2020 process was at 8%-9%. I waited for 10 minutes, but it never recovered, had to shut down the sim via taskbar. No problem with internet connection.
Current computer is very powerful. Also had this problem on the old one.
I experienced the same thing recently. I have a new PC since mid December and it worked great with no problem at all till now. Yesterday I had to restart a flight four times because of screen freeze. I was using the Fenix A320 with a bunch of addons, the ones I always use (ProATC, FS2Crew, GSX, FSLTS). It happened just before the push-back, always at the same time, so I reinstalled FS2Crew and GSX and cleaned the rolling cache, so stuff that COULD be involved, and the fourth time I managed to push back, and eventually to complete the flight. I tried also reverting back to the previous nVidia drivers, but had the same problem (second time around). It’s really hard to pinpoint the cause, because no messages are displayed. Sound continues and some app still see the simulator going. Others, like FSRealistic, lose connection during the freeze. Very odd. Hope it stopped after I reinstalled some stuff. It came out of nowhere, maybe some glitch tied to the zone I was flying (scenery?). Finger crossed
EDIT: it always happened during a switch between screens (I have two) or apps, when the main MFS windows loses focus
