FSDreamTeam GSX for MSFS

We tried to explain this so many times and, the wait times are only caused by airports designed without the slightest care of ground services, with fuel parking not placed correctly, not in enough quantity or without proper paths of the “Vehicle” kind, which in real life are there for a reason, which is precisely improving the flow of ground vehicles without at the same time clashing with airplane traffic.

An airport badly designed, without any regard to ground services, won’t obviously cause problems to GSX only, because not having a proper network of dedicated vehicle path will clearly cause the same problem with default ground services too and causing clashes and disappearing AI due to a bad flow caused by the lack of enough vehicle paths that will allow vehicles like fuel truck to reach any destination easily, without clashing with airplanes.

This because GSX correctly gives to vehicle paths an higher priority, precisely to prevent its ground vehicles that comes from afar ( like the Fuel trucks ) to go into the wrong routes but, if those paths are missing and/or a not connecting the various areas of the airport well, the GSX vehicles will be forced to take regular taxiways and, as the last resort, even runways, in order to reach you, which will result in paths longer than they are supposed to, because the airport was badly designed.

In an ideal world, we might just hope airport developers will realize their airport will work better when without GSX, if they just took more care into ground services flow ( it surely forced us to improve the design of our own airports ) but, considering lots of them are made without even caring about AI flow, with glaring mistakes, I’m not too optimistic.

This might force us to rely on some less realistic option for the GSX vehicles that come from far away, like Fuel trucks, Deicers, Catering and Follow me, and it might be just having them materializing close to the airplane, like magic. Of course, there will always be people complaining they “hate pop-ups” and shouldn’t appear in front of you and, instead, take realistic paths using ground vehicle paths which, of course, is exactly what GSX does right now…

I don’t think it is THAT long a wait for the fuel truck (it’s only 1 min? or so). I mean if you request fuelling then go start powering up an airliner from cold and dark, the fuel truck seem to arive quite quickly. I’m sure fuel trucks in real life must take a minute or more to arrive too.
Would love to have an audio voice confirmation once fuelling is done though, I often don’t know when it’s finished, and just find that the fuel truck has left when I go look to check.

What works for me as mentioned a few posts above is restarting couatl process as it seems to pause/stop/crash and requires relaunching. Once relaunched GSX services including follow me work fine after landing)

Are you using Windows 11 ?

My hope is that when the World Hub is released there will be enough people that do care and improve flows on airports. I will definitively do that just like I did the exact same thing in the X-Plane Gateway. I am not a graphics artist so this will be my way of contributing to a better world.

Windows 10.

For @BragRaindrop933 , yeah I’ve restarted couatl a few times, the point being it almost never starts once landed.
And on the fuel truck issue? A minute is fine, but I waited over 8 minutes the other night. Seemed like a lifetime :joy:

Maybe it’s an airliner thing. Last attempt tonight was in the PMDG 737-800. It worked almost every time when flying GA.

To be clear, it’s still a wonderful product.

Are you trying to restart couatl or are you starting it afresh?
I find that after landing I just get an infinite GSX ‘loading wheel’, couatl can still be there in the system tray, but right clicking on it and hitting restart and it will often just disappear and not come back. So I now have a shortcut for couatl.exe on my taskbar and launch it from there. Works every time for me and I am using the 737-800 on most flights. So after the couatl.exe restart I will get the available gates listed, and can get a follow me car too. This method hasn’t failed me yet, although it would be nice not to have to relaunch couatl.exe at all after landing.

I really enjoy GSX currently and would like that as an option please. Many of my 3rd party airports aren’t designed well for ground traffic and there doesn’t seem to be a good chance of an update for this from all airport makers. While not ideal for realism, I think it might be a reasonable compromise (as an option). I am finding I often avoid using the services because of the long wait times, and that’s a shame really as it greatly improves the sim.

@Umberto67

Is it possible to manually edit fuel trucks and catering trucks path they take? Would GSX allow me to edit the path the trucks take? Or create new ones? Is it a easy to add feature? We can then edit our own routes for fuel, baggage, cargo, etc.

Cheers

Hopefully the new World Hub (by Asobo, currently in beta) allows us to do exactly that.

My exact experience, except I’ll now try your option for the EXE itself :+1:t3:

The whole Boarding process Takes way too Long! I don’t want to wait Like 20mins to Taxi. I want the Boarding done in 10mins

Change the passenger density in settings.

Tell it to those passengers not able to listen to the announcements of the boarding crew because they think they are first in line, although their boarding group is the last one

The FSDT Installer placed a “Start Couatl for GSX MSFS” icon both on your Desktop and on the Start programs group too, so you didn’t had to do it yourself.

We got some reports by users that, changing the Compatibility settings for the Couatl64_MSFS.EXE to “Windows 8”, seem to have cured the problem of crashes in flight.

Taskbar is handier for me to access. I will try the win 8 compatiblity thing and see if it fixes it, thanks. Couatl crashes most flights for me except for one this morning, and I have no idea what made the difference there. :man_shrugging:

GSX is very hit or miss for me on landing. Sometimes it works great; sometimes it will teleport me into the middle of a terminal when I go to open the GSX menu. I suspect the latter has something to do with a mod conflict somewhere, but I haven’t been able to suss it out. (My current suspects are AIFlow and/or AIGround, or possibly an issue with the airport itself.) If I don’t fall through the scenery (which is kind of hysterical, actually), I can use the menu to reset the plane at a gate, but the GSX assets (jetway, parked vehicles, etc.) won’t appear, so I think something is interfering with whatever route GSX is using to inject its assets.

On the whole, though, I’m still happy with the product, and look forward to its further development.

I use AI ground and haven’t seen any issue like this. AI ground and AI flow (which I’m not using) just tweak AI parameters though. Maybe it’s another mod conflict or the airport.

This windows compatibility fix seems to work for me. That’s me a few flights in now and no Couattl crashes. I’m sure I’d ordinarily have seen one by now. Thank you for this suggestion.

Yes, the same for me. This fix works for me too. I have had couatl crashes every flight since a while ago. It was annoying, and thanks to Umberto I have no more. Great solution.

I’ve put in the Win8 compatibility fix; hopefully it works!

Another weird issue I occasionally get: if I reposition an aircraft at the gate, sometimes GSX will put it at the right gate, and with the center of the plane in (as far as I can tell) the correct spot – but the plane is backwards (i.e. nose pointing away from the terminal). Very odd! As always, I assume it’s an issue with either the aircraft.cfg of the particular jet or the airport itself…
