We tried to explain this so many times and, the wait times are only caused by airports designed without the slightest care of ground services, with fuel parking not placed correctly, not in enough quantity or without proper paths of the “Vehicle” kind, which in real life are there for a reason, which is precisely improving the flow of ground vehicles without at the same time clashing with airplane traffic.
An airport badly designed, without any regard to ground services, won’t obviously cause problems to GSX only, because not having a proper network of dedicated vehicle path will clearly cause the same problem with default ground services too and causing clashes and disappearing AI due to a bad flow caused by the lack of enough vehicle paths that will allow vehicles like fuel truck to reach any destination easily, without clashing with airplanes.
This because GSX correctly gives to vehicle paths an higher priority, precisely to prevent its ground vehicles that comes from afar ( like the Fuel trucks ) to go into the wrong routes but, if those paths are missing and/or a not connecting the various areas of the airport well, the GSX vehicles will be forced to take regular taxiways and, as the last resort, even runways, in order to reach you, which will result in paths longer than they are supposed to, because the airport was badly designed.
In an ideal world, we might just hope airport developers will realize their airport will work better when without GSX, if they just took more care into ground services flow ( it surely forced us to improve the design of our own airports ) but, considering lots of them are made without even caring about AI flow, with glaring mistakes, I’m not too optimistic.
This might force us to rely on some less realistic option for the GSX vehicles that come from far away, like Fuel trucks, Deicers, Catering and Follow me, and it might be just having them materializing close to the airplane, like magic. Of course, there will always be people complaining they “hate pop-ups” and shouldn’t appear in front of you and, instead, take realistic paths using ground vehicle paths which, of course, is exactly what GSX does right now…
