Do you not have an icon in your notification area anyway?
The icon is there as long as it hasnât crashed. When it crashes the icon goes away and you need to start it again which is why I have a shortcut for it.
In all fairness, the app doesnât crash as much as it use to though.
Fair enoughski, I didnât realise that as it hasnât happened to me.
The FSDT Installer has placed an icon on your Desktop and another one in the Windows Start Programs group called Start Couatl for GSX MSFS precisely for this reason: to provide an easy way to start it when the icon in the notification area disappeared because it crashed.
2nd flight with GSX went better. Still no wing walkers (I checked the box in setting enabling them). Also got stuck at pushback, in the middle of the process, GSX demanded that I select a parking spot. Couldnât continue pushback, ended up teleporting to one spot and then back to my original gate. After that it went fine but a bit of an immersion killer.
It almost sounds like you may need to run a Live Update and see if something didnât install correctly for GSX. In almost a year of using it Iâve never had it stop during an active pushback for any reason, and donât recall wing walkers failing to load in (unless I just wasnât paying attention if it did happen).
When i open FSDT Installer a separate web page opens showing sim objects display engine.
How do i stop this opening and do i need SODE?
Kind regards
Steve
Why does GSX work fine when i donât want it, announcing iâm at an isolated parking spot or asking me to put brakes on but when i want to actually use it i get the stupid couatl crash and unable to restart, meaning a complete restart of MSFS. seriously that scripting engine is junk
This is controlled in the exe.xml file.
If you donât want to use it, open the exe.xml file and under COUATL set Enabled from True to False.
You would need to do this before starting the Sim, to enable just switch it back.
As for the COUATL crash, I get this occasionally, but there is no need to restart the sim, just run COUATL.exe manually. The path is in the exe.xml file.
Never works, it restarts in the toolbar but still doesnât work in the sim have to restart the sim.
The reason i mentioned it working when i dont want it too is the irony when i dont want it it works when i do it stops
You need to activate it in the sim when itâs restarted in the toolbar.
how do you do that? its in the sim just spins around for ever or nothing happens when clicking the gsx button this is only after couatl has crashed if it doesnât it works
Yeah, thatâs because youâve not activated it. Assuming your sim is default go to the little pop-up menu at the top of the screen where you can select weather, fuel etc and there should be a GSX icon. You need to click on that to âturn onâ GSX then press whatever key you use to bring up the GSX menu.
Thatâs what i am pressing for gsx menu i never use any keyboard shortcut , the menu opens and sits and spins forever.
Iâve had GSX for over a year and it usually works fine but sometimes just when i want to use it it crashes.
To be honest the entire post was about irony how it always works when iâm not using it but when i do want to use it it instantly decides to crash.
If it keeps spinning⊠Youâre sure that Couatl is running in the background?
This is what I do and it works. Also, sometimes even if couatl hasnât crashed, and I get infinite loading, I go to the windows background tasks close coutal manually and then restart it and then click on the GSX icon. 90% of the time this clears up most issues with infinite âloadingâ messages.
I just keep a shortcut to Couatl on my windows shortcut taskbar ready to launch when necessary.
Yep because i even re open it other people are complaining of same thing when it works its great other times it sucks, it just seems to crash a lot
It doesnât though, youâve obviously got another problem going. It hasnât crashed for me in a long long time, well over a year. Itâs rock solid in fact.
To be honest I think you need to read the manual (again). There is a difference between it being activated/turned on/enabled and it being opened. You can open it without enabling it and all you will see is the spinning loading circle for obvious reasons.
If it is crashing then itâs likely that something in your system that it requires is not up to date.
Seriously its installed and activated and on GA flights the menu opens when i donât want it to but when i loaded an airliner up to use it it failed and has often done that or at the end of a flight its crashed
for gods sake i know how it works i had it since release day, ive even posted pics on here of it working and being used but it crashes a lot

see working but as usual im not using it as im doing GA
In that case Iâd guess itâs highly likely you have some other program running when using an airliner that you donât when flying GA that is causing a conflict and crash.
Itâs the only logical explanation because GSX does not crash because thereâs a problem with GSX itself. If there were weâd all be having the same issue.
