Hello All,
First of all, I apologize if this is not the right place to post this.
I am trying to update GSX to no avail - keeps crashing midway (I admit the more I use this software the more I despise it but that it’s a discussion for another day).
Any help/clues would be much appreciated.

That was a good idea seems what caused it to crash was the aircraft itself
in this case FSS E170, once it had a profile it worked ok didnt seem to like a default gsx profile but i will say the forums are inundated with reports of GSX crashing only have to read the forums and even post below mine the coutatl scripting agent isnt very durable
Does that aircraft run something outside the game, or use simconnect or some other external program? If so it’s probably that causing the conflict.

AFAIK there’s no default GSX profile for E170/175 and you need the profile provided by FSS. Interestingly you don’t need a custom GSX profile for E190/195 though.
On any plane that doesn’t have a profile GSX uses a default profile which is usually wildly inaccurate
Well yeah, but then what else can it do? You seem like you have an axe to grind with GSX to be honest.
All I can say is that it works entirely as designed for me and I haven’t experienced any crashes for a long long time.

I’ve said twice now my original post was more about irony, you know how something works fine until you need to use it? (rhetorical) you don’t seem to understand that and have dragged this out into a major breakdown on how i haven’t activated it and i don’t know how it works which when i proved i did you claim i have an axe to grind ( i mean GSX isn’t hard is it?)

wasn’t to you again people seem not to know how forums work it was a reply to post above mine if it was you it would have had you in the corner. i used our conversation condensed as the other guy didn’t seem to be able to string 3 posts together to make a conversation.

Forums, as with any other form of communication, work best when you address the person you’re responding to directly, not someone else. That counts double if you quote someone else 3 times in your reply.
I was trying to help you because far from GSX being the problem, you’ve obviously got some other issue preventing you from using it as designed with certain aircraft. Additionally, those posts above read to me like someone with an axe to grind (words like stupid, junk, sucks) and, to be blunt, the lack of any sort of grammar in them makes them almost unintelligible anyway. Perhaps I just don’t understand and that’s how forums work…
There are many cases of GSX causing issues that is a pure fact, but again irony was the main point of the post which i have now said 3 times , in fact I’ve been doing GA for 3 days now and GSX wants to interfere every time so it is actually working. I was typing in a rush which i apologise for but there wasn’t a lack of grammar there was a lack of punctuation which i again apologise for , my keyboard isn’t actually in front of my screen (as i have yoke and panels set up) so it is hard for me to see sometimes. I do ppreciate the help you have tried to give i just wish you were able to follow a conversation but thank you anyway.

GSX in it’s current form is a great piece of software when it is working properly, their couatle engine works as additional DRM, unfortunately it is not very good so it works on some systems nicely on others it creates CTD’s and problems, you only have to read this forum. With the various updates from Asobo, GSX developers are always trying to catch up and keep things working as much as possible for the benefit of us all. He can also be quite rude on his forum so be careful! 
I bought GSX awhile ago. I have had numerous issues with many versions. I contacted the developer and he wasn’t helpful. I asked for a refund and he just had excuses. He blamed MSFS code for the issues and kept refusing to refund me. My argument was that he made a product for FS2020 and it was unacceptable to just ignore the issues. He kept saying that most don’t have issues. I told him to read this thread. I finally just gave up and uninstalled it. It caused more problems than it’s worth.

GSX (all versions) New: Pushback “Return to Parking” now always available on every Pushback Slot (Left, Right QuickEdit, or Additional), as long they have been customized in non-Snap mode.

FWIW, I saw what you were getting at. 
Maybe you could try to run that “Check” feature from the FSDT Universal Installer - it checks if everything is correctly installed. These pink checkerboards usually mean it’s missing some textures.
I’m becoming more and more frustrated with GSX. Last 5 flights, it crashed when I went to select the destination airport details, nothing but the spinning progress wheel. Then on the last flight, I couldn’t even start the program sitting at the gate prior to take off, just the dreaded “spinning wheel”. I’ve rebooted between flights, nothing seems to work. The one time it worked in the last 10 days, after completing all the pre-check activities, I selected a pushback that turns me nose right. The pushback tug just kept going straight, pushing me through a concrete wall. End of flight, what a waste of 30 minutes of my life. For me, this thing is nothing more than expensive, buggy AF, bloatware.
