When using the G1000. I find that everytime I create a flight plan before every flight. Whenever I want to track it using the auto pilot GPS/CDI is always pointing north(360 degress) and DIS (the one on the top just below the garmin logo)is showing 7196.8NM. Flight plan is only 306NM.
What am I doing wrong here. Anyone ??? Been trying to solve this in the past 2 hrs. !
Your flight plan set in the G1000 is RPLL to MIA which is why its showing that distance.
The CDI mode is displaying the Course (See the ‘CRS 001’ to the top right of the compass). If you click the CDI button just below the compass it will alternate through until you get to GPS. Then it should show the correct course between the two points youve set.
Im not sure if there is a bug transferring the flight plan (I assume in the menu before loading) to the G1000. Try re creating the points in the G1000 itself?
EDIT: Actually I can see when opening the image larger it has the ‘GPS’ displayed on the needle… Disregard the instructions I just gave I guess …
Actually it is a very straight forward flight plan I have created. RPLL-RPVM (direct GPS) but when I spawned and ready to fly the screen looks like (see pic) CDI is to the north DIS is 7196.8NM. see bottom right (active plan) does not show the leg distance as well.
Can you kindly replicate the scenario of creating the same flight in the C172/G1000 and see how it looks like. Thank you
Did you create the plan from the default flight planner? or from the G1000 ?
Because I did a trial doing it within the G1000 and it is perfectly fine as suggested by BarbedJungle.
I tried both and I could not replicate your problem, it always works well for me… may be could you say step by step what exactly are you doing to get that issue?
I read there is a bug in which once a flight plan has been entered, you can’t completely change the destination using the G1000. I see the first screen shows a destination of MIA. So I wonder if this was changed to RPVM in the G1000, but the bug kept the parameters of the original destination (MIA) active.
thanks for testing 777pilot. OK just to explain it better here is what I did.
1)Create a flight plan on the world map screen, Selecting departure and arrival airport. In this instance RPLL-RPVM just a direct-GPS mode. (see pic below)
then after clicking FLY on the right bottom corner. It will bring me to the spawned point .(test both runway or gate spawn point) then checking the G1000 screen and this is what I see.
thanks Boddie for chiming in on this thread, Yes I do understand that the game is still buggy due to a very early stage. But this problem seems not happening to some users. Probably only me who I can say is pretty noob in using the G1000. but there is no need to be an expert in this situation as it is just a simple make a plan. follow the route in AP in my G1000. but I can’t and everyone else seems doesn’t experienced this problem.
I don’t see anything wrong with your process. It looks strange for sure. I’ll try it on my system tomorrow. Which plane are you using? (I know it shouldn’t matter but…)
Yes It supposed to work at it should, but unfortunately it doesn’t in my sim. A bummer as I would like to learn G1000 autopilot. I am an avid flightsimmer but usually flying VFR and steam gauges only. But as this sim came out with a whole lot more G1000 panel. I think it’s time to learn. LOL
thanks Luciusrex, yup I can do that too. from RPLL while stuck with the CDI on the north 001 degress. I have tried and do as you say. and I can manage to direct-to RPVM, and the CDI changes. as it should.
But still never solve the main problem of. creating a flight plan in the “worldmap” page then following the route when you start the flight. As it should! sim is really enjoyable, having problems like this, solve it, fly ! problem again. that’s the life of a simmer. hahaha
I see what you mean, I posted something regarding Flight Plans and the World Map early today too (might not be the exact same problem but it does deal with the World Map and flight plans as well). I was planning to create a zendesk ticket but worked happened, ill probably do it in the morning.
Here is my result. I loaded the 208 and entered the departure and destination in the World Map. Started the flight. The G1000 seems to have the distance and bearing correct. But when I select the Active Flight Plan, the DTK and DIS seems to be incorrect.
I took off and managed to get the autopilot to send me on the way.
Sorry, I can’t find a way to repeat the problem you have found.
I think I will just try to make this an ongoing saga to solve this problem till Asobo/Microsoft release the first patch as really the GPS/Autopilot has still a lot of debugging needed.
