Pressing the FMS button does not toggle the cursor on MFD
On the MFD, I press the FPL button and it brings up the Active Flight Plan screen as it should. I then press the FMS button to toggle on the Origin field ⊠and it doesnât happen ⊠can press it several times, nothing.
Workaround ⊠if I press the VNV Prof key it will highlight the FPA field in the lower part of the Active Flight Plan screen where I can then use the large ring on the FMS button to scroll up for entry.
But why wont it work as it should, I mean pressing the FMS button should highlight the Origin field, Iâve seen it over and over in YouTubes.
Itâs the same in both the stock 172 and the Cockspur Phenom 100 I have, niether works as it should.
Iâve tried uninstall/re-install of the G1000 thru marketplace but no joy. I have also tried when running in safe mode, still does not work.
Any suggestions?

Try going to the âLineâ below where it says âoriginâ. Essentially the text is just titles above the input areas.

MSFS Lock Mode interactions with knobs are a bit more involved, since you can lock the knob and turn it with left click.
To push a knob in, either hold down left mouse button to lock the knob then press right mouse button to push the knob in, or, for most knobs now, you can just push right mouse button.
Perfect, this works, thanks!

I miss some MFD infos : ETA or FOD
What do I wrong?

Make sure you turn the large FMS dial until you get the âauxâ tab selected. Once youâre on that page, hit the end of the FMS button to activate the cursor and use the larger FMS rotary switch to move the cursor to the âMFD Data Bar fieldsâ (where the red arrow is), then use the small FMS rotarty to change each field to what you want displayed.

No worries! Weâve all âlostâ how we got to some option at one point or another! Glad it worked out for you.

Hi All,
I am flying the C172 G1000 VFR. When enroute I set a direct-to. After a while I want to delete the direct-to and enter a new FPL. But whatever I do, it keep flying to the direct-to.
When looking at the direct-to page the last direct-to is active while I have an active FPL.
If I delete the FPL then the route IVLUT > EHAM is removed but still the direct-to EHLE is there and canât be removed.
Is this a bug or user error. I use the G1000 often but never had that problem.
(edit)
I tested another example. Here is what I did
- Start the Cessna from scratch at EHLE (Netherlands)
- Within G1000, I choose direct-to EHAM
- Then I choose FPL and set origin EHLE, enroute the waypoints OMORU and ALFEN and as destination EHRD
I know normally you donât put first a direct-to but this happens also when you are enroute and want to change the flightplanâŠ
Result (see screenshot) but the flightplan is not shown on the map. Only the direct. I have no option to active the flightplan from the MENU.
Thanks
Can you press the FMS knob, highlight and select a leg in the enroute portion of the flight plan, then activate that leg from there?
I am not in the sim now to confirm this, but does pressing CLR if on the Direct To page not clear the current Direct To target?
If not, I would just set a direct to OMURO in your last example. Doing that should show your route to EHRD on the map and guide you to ERHD.
That is what I would do if in the air. If I were on the ground at EHLE and accidentally set a Direct To EHAM, I would try a Direct to RW23 and see if the NXI would accept that. If not, I would Direct to OMURO, as you can always change the Direct To to any en-route waypoint.
Same. Push FMS knob, highlight OMURO, direct, enter, enter.
Thanks for the reply. Yep tried that too but canât activate it. Will test it again tomorrow.
Thanks for the reply. Tried that also but nothing happens. My understanding was that, when I put a flightplan after a direct was choosen it automatically activate the flightplan and delete the direct-to entry. And also tried to activate the leg in my flightplan but there was no option when I pressed MENU.
Hopefully can do another test tomorrow.
I would not use Menu - Activate Leg to set a Direct to. I activate a Direct To the same way CharlieFox00 does:
As @AviatorCSnet said, donât worry about the menu. Youâre looking for a button to âactivateâ the flight plan, but in reality, as soon as you âactivateâ a waypoint in a flight plan youâve built, it overrides the previous âDirect toâ you set up, and activates your flight plan from the point youâve chosen (OMORU in this case), and will continue the plan once it reaches the point youâve selected .

Thanks all. I didnât the time anymore to check as i am traveling but will as soon I am behind my pc ![]()
