General SU5 Beta Feedback Thread

As I also mentioned further up, I feel like in “nature” and autogen areas, the sim mostly performs better than ever. But in PG areas it’s worse than before imo.

I don’t really get why (some) PG is such a resource hog, especially since it’s 100% static and a lot of it doesn’t even look that great. Would love it if it was optimized better. Removing all those ugly photogrammatrees would probably help a lot too.

Is it me or does the built-in SPIRT livery not work with the A320neo? stuck in reverse with no power

Likely worth reporting to Asobo and PMDG as the patch notes indicate 1.7.10.0 was actually supposed to resolve these exact kind of issues with “pause”.

In fact this was happening in the A330 as well - which I attributed to the A330, not to the sim in this bug report - however, if it is indeed the same issue as you are reporting in the PMDG, then it would be a sim issue.

I’ve written it up here:

I note your bug report is dated 14FEB, which is a significant time ago in terms of sim development. I can’t recall who made the A330 (I’m not really an Airbus enthusiast), however if it is IniBuilds I had issues with the A310 being completely out of control coming out of pause in 2020. I dunno if it was ever rectified or if it occurs in 2024, but I noted it, specifically, with their aircraft and not with others. Perhaps your issue is related, or not.

So apparently this beta is currently heading in a direction i probably will end up strongly disliking. I usually have a couple overlay parameters on the screen while simming and with the last two releases anytime the VRAM allocation maxes out the system becomes a full on pause fest. When the beta just began when VRAM got maxed out you would get a slight stutter but the system managed to continue without pausing.. but now with these past two releases im getting full on pauses. Last night was a full 5 second pause on touchdown.. something i have never experienced before..

I was so disgusted i didn’t even bother with taxi to the gate.. i just turned the sim off..
Whats going on with the performance aspect of these builds? Performance was pretty darned sublime with the initial builds..

It was default A330 (Inibuilds) in early SU5 testing on PC, no addons other than BATC.

Folks, this topic is for discussing the SU5 Beta. Discussions about the relative merits of the performance of SSD vs Internet is not specific to the SU5 beta and should be conducted elsewhere.
Thank you.

No CTDs here.

The mention of tilt though. Does that mean the default WeatherRadar already supports it?

Hello,

please try to get the legacy mode could be selected and don’t getting back always into locked mode.

Moderator Edit: Title of this merged topic post was “Integrate cockpit legacy mode for ps5”

Why haven’t we removed the blue hovering already?

Hi all. I have created a topic in Performance and Graphics that I wanted to share with those experiencing either stutters, pre-caching and/or PG issues or anyone else interested. I hope you’ll check it. I would be interested to hear your comments and see if my findings can be replicated.

Thanks

See related report, not a SU5 regression: Cannot select "Legacy" Cockpit Interaction - Reverts to "Lock" (Xbox+Playstation)

This beta version is the worse so far in terms of performance. I always had stutters in VR (spikes on main thread latency when moving my head around), but this version came with even more stutters.

I tried 1.7.16.0 for a couple of VR flights yesterday and I too experienced a lot of stutters and large pauses, even in the middle of nowhere. I switched back to SU4 today and it is has been smooth skies.

I have many Crashes during the flight I think I’ll go back to su4

That of course is your right and there is nothing wrong with that.

The thing is that if you’re getting crashes that are not reported and documented then how will hey get fixed?

If they are already documented then fine, but if not what happens when SU5 gets released. You won’t be able to go backwards.
