Giving Up On This Sim For Now

Hi All,

I’ve had it for now with this flight sim.
It shouldn’t be this hard to operate. I’m not a newbie here and have used Microsoft Flight sim since its first release.
Ever since WU 3, I’ve had one issue after another.
I was able to solve some issues like low frame rates and lessen stuttering, but now I’m unable to fly offline which I was able to due after initially installing it from the “store.”
I feel I’ve wasted money on this purchase and wasted enough time trying to get it to operate as it should. I looked into EVERY posted “solution” here and elsewhere, with no luck.
Maybe when Asobo and Microsoft get their act together and correct these issues, I’ll dust off this sim and try again.
In the meantime I’ll go back to the trouble free Prepar3d.

This isn’t an airport, no need to announce your departure.

@BostonJeremy77 - Don’t be that guy.

Also, as a Prepar3D user myself… LOL @ “trouble-free” P3D.

BostonJeremy77,

That departure response wasn’t necessary.

Hi @BlessingSet4676

I am sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope you try again in the future when some of the issues have been resolved. Feel free to check in on the #community:news-and-announcements category occasionally to see whats going on with the sim.

Best of luck.

You can come and ask a meaningful question and seek a solution and help the community to TRY and help you. Or you can denounce the sim that many are enjoying and praise the “trouble-free” P3D and announce how you’re going back to it. There’s the difference in the response I can provide to you.

Nyx1819,

Sorry my initial post was in the wrong place.
I’ll check in from time to time, but I’m really disappointed in this sim. I had such high hopes for it.

It’s helpful to know that dedicated community members are abandoning the sim. It helps newcomers make an informed decision about whether this is a good investment of their money and time.

Maybe we should create a big thread where everyone can say goodbye. I don’t see the reason for everyone creating new discussion threads without the need of a discussion.

In terms of dedicated community members, we probably have a different understanding based on 7 posts whereof at least 2 are in this thread and two threads, one of them announcing the leaving of the community/sim.

BostonJeremy77,

I’ve tried many of the helpful solutions posted on this site, some have worked and unfortunately, most havent.
This sim shouldn’t be as difficult as it is to operate. I paid over $90.00 for a sim
that has many bugs… just look around. I’m not the only one. Instead of spending quality time enjoying this sim, I’m wasting time trying to get it to operate properly…something it initially did when it was first installed. Each update has taken more and more enjoyment out of this game for me. I’m tired playing a repairman instead of a pilot.

VirtualChrisM,

It’s a great sim.
Unfortunately, it was released with too many issues and each update compounds those issues.

@BlessingSet4676 You have helped me several times in the past and I appreciate it…I really would hate to see you leave…

PeterE1959,

I’m not leaving, just taking a break for a while.
A game should be fun to play, not frustrating.

9 days ago you posted this:

I have a very smooth running 26-30 fps over NYC at 1000 feet or higher.
The minimum fps needed for a smooth flight to the naked eye is 20 fps. If you are able to achieve more, good for you. Its all system dependent.
Happy flying.

So… whatever. In another thread you posted that your computer is about 8 years old and you are playing on a monitor from 2006. Whatever your expectations of the sim are, they don’t coincide with a) minimum requirements for hardware and b) your own posts related to your experience. You also stated that you are not willing to invest in new hardware for the sim.

So before you go and tell Microsoft to “get it together”, maybe figure out what you want first and then examine if it’s realistic.

BostonJeremy77,

Yes…my last flightsim “repair” left my pc running decently for a computer if its age and I was pleased.
I’m not expecting it to run like a high end computer and have made the proper adjustments to the sim’s settings to get the best possible results.
Last night I went to fly and after hitting the fly now button, I had a ctd. So its one thing after another and its NOT due to my pc’s age.

All the recent negative comments both on this forum and Avsim are sickening to read. I hope this stops in a year or so once the sim matures.

TheLittlePilot1,

Thanks for your insight.
Glad I amused you.

Well… I mean… what do you want me to say? :smirk: You provide contradictory information, use a 2020 cutting-edge tech title on a Dell XPS from a decade ago, tell everyone how smooth your performance is (9 days ago) and then proceed to play the world’s smallest violin about how Microsoft needs to “get it together”… I’d LOVE to see Prepar3D 5.1’s performance on that Dell XPS, considering I have a system I purchased last summer with a 10th generation Intel processor and an NVidia RTX card and I have to turn the settings DOWN on it in order to not get “DXGI Device Hung” on such a “trouble-free” sim.
