Will the afterburner be fixed? It looks really really bad and barely an afterburner
When are you going to update on Simmarket?
GKS,
Following-up…do you have an ETA for the next update on the MiG-21? It’s a beautiful model already, but honing in the flight dynamics will make it truly exceptional!
@Al13X7895 I hope you’re doing well! I saw that the MiG-25 is released, and it looks awesome.
Now that the new MiG is out, do you have an idea on when updates to the MiG-21 are coming?
Warmest regards,
-Drew
Also curious if there are any planned updates to the flight model? The current version has way too much power, it’ll accelerate to 100+kmh on the ground at idle, and with no tanks and Mil power, it’ll go M1.2. Also, does anyone know if you can get previous versions via Orbx? I’d gladly revert to the previous version if possible.
I believe that the dev already stated (perhaps in the Mig-25 thread or elsewhere) that they plan to address the flight dynamics of this model, and sounds across all of their products. More updates for the Mig-25 are coming in the short term, and then I think they will look at this one again.
Hi,
I imported the Mig 21 into MSFS2024. I would like to point out that my computer is considered by the simulator to be in the higher technical specifications range.
The current version works but with graphic limitations: the gunsight reticle is almost invisible and the popup used to manage weapons and tanks is particularly dark, as is the radar display. Furthermore, the afterburner management has become cumbersome compared to my throttle settings. Ground behavior has improved marginally but is still terrible.
For comparison, I installed the first released version of your product and “a miracle happened”. The gunsight reticle is more visible although not yet adequate, the selection menu for additional tanks and missiles is still dark but the radar (which was only cosmetic Air-to-Air) is normally readable. The settings of the various peripherals, joysticks and throttle are working without problems and the airbrake setting (which has always given me headaches) now works perfectly. But ABOVE ALL the aircraft now shows a flight model behavior absolutely aggressive and in line with the most recent current version; the taxiing behavior is perfect. Evidently the new sim requires much less hardware - this opinion is based on the fact that I performed the tests for the two sims (msfs2020-msfs2024) on the same computer.
Sure, the usual problems with engine ignition in case of Cold and Dark departure remained and the missiles are not visible from the cockpit, but those are minor annoyances.
For an update of the Mig 21 to MSFS2024 I would suggest starting from the original configuration, importing the part relating to the management of external loads and engine ignition (also the click to free the throttle was a real touch of class lost in the last update) and the small graphic needs reported. For the radar, I personally did not like the presence of the only cartographic radar (in use it turned out to be useless and aesthetically ugly) and the suppression of the Air to Air radar (cosmetic and not working) annoyed me. However, since the cartographic representation seems to have been liked by many users, I would propose to let the users themselves decide (with action on the appropriate button) which operation to use; whether A-A or A-G.
Thanks and good work
The 21 does not work very well for me in MSFS2024. I bought mine in the 2020 marketplace, so v2.0 got imported over during installing the new sim.
I also noticed the gunsight being very faint. This also applies to the radio stack’s lcd screen. The frequencies are hardly visible. Speaking of the nav frequencies, on some occasions I can not switch the two nav frequencies for some reason. Once the nav aid is selected the distance indicator shows an incorrect distance, or the NPP is indicating an incorrect heading.
When starting a flight on the runway most switches are in the off position and many systems are offline. The engine is running ok, though. If I reload the aircraft in dev mode, this problem gets resolved and everything seems to be working. However, the handling is weird. It feels like the elevator has much less authority and I am unable to pull more than 4g in the aircraft during flight. Pulling more than 5-7 degrees AoA is impossible. I have similar issues with the Mig-25 but that is a different topic.
Moderator Edit:
If you buy in marketPlace you cannot use an older version. It’s a problem…
In fact, the current version is not very compatible.
Se si acquista in marketPlace non si puo’ utilizzare una versione precedente. E’ un problema…
In effetti la versione attuale non è molto compatibile.
Thank you all for your feedbacks regarding the model’s behavior in the new sim msfs2024. We are preparing an update that will be compiled for the new 2024SDK. We also plan to release a new version 3.0 that will include a completely new visual model, a updated flight model *based on msfs2024 features), a new radar, and weapons control. Follow the updates!
Great news, thank you!
I am not sure if the SDK allows this, but it would be awesome to have the nose wheel shimmy, or at least the sound of it, added to the touchdown sound effects.
Something similar at the very end of this video at 11:30: Nose Wheel touchdown
Looking forward to the update, thank you!
GREAT NEWS, I hope the upgrade comes quickly
Will the updates also be available for MSFS2020?
Edited to add that I will eventually be switching over to MSFS 2024, but am sticking with 2020 for the time being.
I understand that supporting two flight sim versions could be difficult.
We are working on Weapons system now. In this video you can see a demo for the Mig 25 but this feature will also be implemented on the Mig21
With 1.2.7.0 released today, The Mig-21 is unfortunately broken. Most of the gauges don’t work, and animations in the cockpit are also broken. Reloading the aircraft from dev mode no longer fixes the problems. I only had 15 minutes to fiddle with it, though.
I tried a little while ago in msfs2024 (where everything worked before) and the joystick, pedals and throttle are not recognized by the Mig.21, it is not even possible to start the engine.
Wait, there’s an update for the MiG-21?
What’s in the change log?
Is it on the Marketplace?
I see that folks on MSFS 24 are having trouble. Are things okay in 2020?
Thanks.
That’s “With 1.2.7.0 released today” an update to MSFS 2024, not to the Mig!
Any updates on progress with the weapons and general updates with both the 25 and 21?
Thanks! I thought exactly the same thing, that there was an update to the Mig-21.
I’m thinking of submitting a bug report for MSFS Users: It seems many users think we can read their minds, and only write half of what they are thinking, possibly as way to let us know which mind to read?, leaving the rest of us in the dark. I feel super bad for the developers especially, trying to understand many of the bug reports is excruciating.
