Why are we still using 100% GPU in menus? I haven’t even gotten past the login queue and it’s taking 100%.
This is degrading peoples hardware sooner than it should, heating up rooms (i live in the tropics) and not helping power bills.
Go to the in-sim settings and disable Home Screen Background if it exists. I did that in 2020 and got down to 13% normal GPU usage in the Main Menu. I don’t know if 2024 has this feature though.
In the Login queue, press alt-enter and using your mouse, reduce the window like in the picture below + go in nvidia settings and put max FPS to 60 or so… down to 36% GPU usage from the 79%
In the menus, trying to set up my controller (with some difficulty), my GPU is running at a high level, 95% usage and just a few degrees below maximum.
This is the same problem we had years ago in FS2020. At that time, Asobo accepted this was not good, and gave us the option of not running the video in the background.
Now they’ve made almost exactly the same error in FS2024, although this time there is no video being displayed, just the GPU being worked hard.
It appears the issue from MSFS2020 where if you sat on the main menu for too long without any activity it sucked up tons of resources and crashed your PC. Anyone else experiencing this?
