Graphics on Xbox su15 drastically deteriorated

I’m sharing a screenshot and some info about the same issues I’m seeing, but on XBox Series X. During the day in the US regions, the deterioration isn’t great, but not as bad as the Europe. However the mid-ranged night lighting in all areas is impacted and giving issues.

Note that this doesn’t impact airports usually, just all other lighting.

Mid-ranged night lighting is completely dark/invisible. Only the far and near distance lighting shows up. This is both with and without scenery mods.

the graphics on xbox are… how to say… “very limited” because when I bought two airports, the first, when you move away from 5 - 10 m, the textures turn into giant blocks of polygons and the second gives the planes black screens and the buttons that no longer work…

Xbox series x, A300-600, Munich airport, notice well the picture and the taxi sings, you can’t see anything, same for taxiways, vehicles around the airport, basically everything around me when I’m still on the ground. All this thanks to the introduction of the Xbox update that decreases the graphics for better performance and minor crashes… that 'update ruined everything… I would really like a video trailer of msfs2024 done from an Xbox, so I can at least choose whether to buy it or not, we from
Xbox need more reassurance for the new sim.

Still having these issues with LOD nearly a year after SU15 was released. Take a look at the orange hangar at Valdez Alaska. As well as the blue hangars in the background. Blurry and completely lacking any detail from a moderate distance. This used to not be an issue in SU14. SU15 again, is way too aggressive in its LOD culling.




It’s not just Object LOD, it’s also the Terrain LOD. The mountains around Valdez are also not holding their detail, if you look behind your aircraft it takes a moment for them to pop into detail from their blurry satellite image to the closer detailed satellite images. Watching terrain pop in and out of detail-less blobs totally kills the immersion when panning around. It’s almost like the sim is popping back and forth between these two zoom levels on the world map. It can’t make up its mind on which detail to hold. And I know Alaska doesn’t have the best Satellite imagery but this area around Valdez has always been exceptional, until SU15. I’ve flown this area for years now in the sim and slowly watched it degrade with the “updates.”
I will admit that when I booted up a few weeks ago this issue was considerably worse than today (so bad in fact I quit the session.) Maybe the servers have better data bandwidth today, but it was still happening, just not as much as a few weeks ago. The Orange hangar remained at the lowest LOD until right next to it. Today it did much better. The lack of consistency is frustrating when the sim used to be pretty solid and reliable.
I often fly HEMS flights in the Denver area between Saint Anthony’s Hospital and Swedish Medical Center. The LOD of this industrial park off of Santa Fe Dr (85) and Hampden Ave (285) doesn’t fully render anymore like it used to. Again, Not until you are right on top of it. I’m definitely not logging the hours I used to. SU15 killed my favorite past time, nearly a year ago now with no word on if we are ever going to get this fixed. Very sad to see how far this sim has fallen.

Could they have possibly done this to make more bandwidth available on the 2024 servers? Or, possibly divert more people toward 2024?

I don’t know for sure, just taking pot shots in the dark.

I have sent several emails to msfs team and what angers me the most is that they pretend the problem is not there. Continuing to say that it is the limits of Xbox vram while clearly before the sim update this problem was not there

Honestly, I’ve already moved away from consoles and built a PC capable of running MSFS properly. Now, I rarely visit this forum anymore. To me, this is a lost cause. Not only that, but something that also frustrated me was the lack of updates and new liveries for PMDG products—they never receive fresh liveries, leaving you feeling stuck and disappointed.

I don’t know everyone’s financial situation, but if you have the opportunity, move on from consoles. It will do wonders for your mental health, especially for those who get stressed using this simulator on consoles, whether MSFS 2020 or 2024.

The new GDK is a lifesaver for those who can’t afford a PC for whatever reason. So, we can only hope for the best, although my hopes are undermined day after day by Microsoft’s lack of consideration on this issue, which has lasted for over a year.
