Yeah, the topography isn’t quite right and the way the city lays along the shoreline isn’t correct either. The lake in the distance is also in the wrong spot to be Lake Wanaka… Like I said: wild (and now seemingly pointless) guess.
I have been planning to fly the British Antarctic Survey livery Twin Otter from Calgary to British Rothera, so I will have to try and go by there on the way down. (Kenn Borek Air’s main hangar is in Calgary and the Aerosoft BAS twin otter aircraft is in Kenn Borek’s colours, so I assume that the BAS aircraft is actually a Kenn Borek air twin otter on lease to the British Antarctic Survey. My scenario is that the aircraft needs to be ferried down to Antarctica for the austral summer… I will be sure to grab some screenshots along the way.)

Hehe no. I immediately recognized it because that volcano was in one if the early alpha screenshots. Before release there was a thread on Avsim where I and others tried to find the places shown in the official screenshots to compare them with Bing maps.

Hint: The screenshot was taken during an approach.
I spent more than 1 hour yesterday to try to locate this valley… with no success.
It could be near Gstaad where the slopes are moderate enough to fit the picture, but nothing around looks like the picture.
The plane on your pic has no gears out : it seems to indicate that you are climbing right after take off… so I also looked for the nearby airports with long runways and surroundings… no success either !
Thing is all the valleys have one particular thing in common. They all look the same😅
In fact many of them in Switzerland have steep slopes… too steep to match the picture. The difficulty is to find one with gentle slopes !

I’m thinking it’s nearer Zurich. At the edge of the Alps where it starts getting shallower and lower. No idea exactly WHERE though it does all look similar. One of those villages needs to be matched to a map!
I’d say it’s in Zernez, near LSZS
..or a bit further down that valley, in S-chanf
