Headwind A330-900neo

If I recall correctly the flyPad on the FBW A320 has some different options for configuring the throttles, including having reversers on the main throttle axis. Maybe that’s what was happening, although the Headwind A330 is based off of a much older FBW Stable version. 0.6.x or thereabouts…

Hopefully the MCDU SERVER will also be included in one of the next updates…that would be amazing. I’ve gotten so used to using it on the A320FBW. That I don’t want to fly without it anymore!!!

I keep saying to myself that I’m going to get this plane because I regularly fly the FBW32nx its maximum range (7 to 8 hours, depending on the jetstream). I prefer longer hauls than that, i.e., KLAX to LGAV or SBGL to LFPG. But I’m still hesitant for a few reasons (mostly Sim updates that break our add-ons). Now that WU7 is out of the way and everything is working well, we have SU(8?) coming next month - there’s another potential deal breaker (in my paranoid mindset anyway  ).
Can you folks who are enjoying this aircraft recommend I just bite the bullet and download it already? Any elaboration, both positive and negative, would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

In my opinion it has the worst flight model of any jet in msfs,It will literally float on landing at 80 knots lol,If I’m guessing the flight model came from an early version of the default A320.

There are a lot of liveries out there, which is nice.

The long range is very nice.

It’s based on an outdated version of the FBW A320, but the major systems work well enough to get to altitude, engage AP, cruise for several hours, and get to your destination.

Just don’t expect all of the fine details and reality of the FBW.

It’s free to download and try. If you don’t like it, you just delete it and be done.

It’s a great aircraft tbh.

I was using the PMP A330-300 before it was broken by SUx, but Headwind’s is a great replacement for my long-haul flights, especially in South America, the Pacific and around Africa.

I did review it, and thisflight vid has the start up: July 2021 first testing inc. start up
And a flight from Nov. last year (two updated aircraft versions later): A330-900 (Headwind) flight inc. start up

Thanks folks. I’m grabbing it now. Much appreciated. Saw your FIMP (Mauritius) flight. Nice. I have FIMP add-on and love flying in and out to YPPH using the FBW320 - but that’s about its max range. With the 330 I’ll be able to fly to and from FIMP at so many other locations in the EU - even Asia. :+1:

Oh well…it’s not very good…flight characteristics exhibit bad behaviour. Floats down the runway at <100 knots without stalling and lands slower than a Cessna 172. TCA throttle can’t be calibrated - FADEC coding probably is all wrong. Wings hang too low and don’t flex upward enough. There are simply too many other items that need attention to list here which is a shame because it seems to have the potential to be as good as the FBW if enough developers could be recruited to make changes.
I don’t have the knowledge to do such things and am probably too old to learn. I’ll stick with the FBW320 until this bird can be made to fly properly. Hopefully somebody will take on this project.
I’ve just donated some $$ to the cause. Fingers crossed that more people do the same. I don’t expect people putting in their time for free.
Cheers folks

When using simbrief what one do I select, the 200 or 300 or and I having a man look and is there an a339 option on simbrief.

I actually enjoy flying it!!! It’s got the print function available and you get to do all of those “real life” A330 flights such as Qantas Sydney to Melbourne, Air Fiji Nadi to Auckland or something exotic like MEA Rome to Beruit and you get that close real life feeling without going all fictional and having a MAS livery 78710 (for all of those OCD pilots out there, that same equivalent of stroking a cat against the flow of the fur :rofl::rofl:)

I really enjoy flying it

It is good, it’s just not perfect.

I don’t try and take off at <120kts, nor do I try landing at <120 kts.
Maybe you should just fly it and not worry so much about it not matching the real aircraft completely.
I believe the TCA throttle cannot be calibrated as the version of FBW is an older one.

But to say it’s not very good feels a little harsh.

I have completed 3 flights so far with the a330-900 and on all 3 occasions, I’ve encountered an issue before takeoff where the ECAM takeoff config keeps asking for Flaps 2, even though I entered Flaps 1 as takeoff flaps in the MCDU. Under any normal circumstances, those takeoffs would have been Flaps 1 takeoffs so it makes no sense that it wants Flaps 2. If I ignore the suggestion and takeoff, I’ll get a master caution warning which I have to clear during takeoff roll. This is very annoying and I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

I mean the A330 is always allowed with flaps 2!

Does that mean Flaps 1 is not allowed?

Yes, because it has more buoyancy with flaps…depends on the weight, of course. But in the normal mostly take off it is mostly started with flaps

Thanks but I’m afraid that doesn’t really answer my question. When taking my takeoff weight and runway length into account, the required flaps for the takeoffs still should have been flaps 1.

Do you have a calculation program for the A330, or where did you get the info from?

Were you able to resolved this floating issue? I’ve been flying the A330-900 and been having this same problem, the jet refuses to land at the normal landing speed. I also noticed the ILS isn’t lining up perfectly on approach.

I’m buying it simply because not only are you are departing from the best airport in the world…
Rotorua!!!
Your flying over many days playing cricket or walking our dog at the racecourse and exploring Sulphur point…

Who would have thought…

Rotorua airport was bussier than Tauranga and Napier…
