Helicopters are hard

I was trying everything: changing modern to legacy, assist on and off, live weather and clear sky, with full and empty community folder, empty heli and with passenger’s: nothing change. Heli just dancing in the air with no control. Again: just new both heli. H135 and H145 flying without any problems. The strange thing is my fiends they are flying without any problems! Just me. Again
How to fix this? Any idea? When I checked weight and balance I can’t expand CG setting, I trying but I have not this options. Maybe wrong download? I don’t know what to do.

Hélicoptèrs ask little more practice…

That’s not the problem here. Many of us fully understand how helicopters work and how they are uniquely challenging to fly compared to fixed-wing aircraft, but this isn’t that. The helicopters are currently completely uncontrollable with an XBOX or similar (on PC) controller. This isn’t normal helicopter sensitivity and twitchiness.

Practice is one thing, helicopter having a seizure is another history. I know how to fly helicopters and this is soooo far from real

I fly helicopters more than a year right now in this simulator. It’s something wrong, I don’t know: with settings? I have not idea. Unflyable for me for this moment

If you’re not experiencing the problem we’re describing then you don’t understand what’s going on. It’s not simple difficulty that naturally comes with flying helicopters; it’s an actual control bug of some kind that is making them truly uncontrollable.

Yeah helicopters are hard to fly and honestly I don’t think a game pad is accurate enough to fly helicopters well without a bunch of assists.

You do need slow gentle inputs and a lot of correction with rudder/tail rotor to counteract the torque. You need so much almost all the time that I’d be a pain to fly for very long if you don’t have actual rudder pedals, but that’s how it is with helicopters.

Personally I had no problem flying with my joystick, didn’t have to change any binds I just turned off the assists. I’ve spent a little bit of time flying the Huey in DCS (just a 2 week trial) but the Cabri G2 in MSFS is a little easier to fly than that.

First flight took off flew between some buildings, then flew a few miles about 50ft over the freeway till I found a building with a helipad.

Dude you don’t understand, no matter what we try, as soon as heli start hover, it becomes uncontrollable, no matter if we’re using correrct colectives or rudders. Asobo should pay attention to us Xbox users

One more time from the top: This isn’t about helicopters being hard to fly, and it’s also not about controllers not being the best input device for it. If you aren’t experiencing the issue yourself, then you are 100% making incorrect assumptions about it. It’s a clear bug, period. There is almost ZERO controllability at the moment with a controller, with WILD uncontrollable gyrations by the aircraft with even the gentlest control input. And the controls themselves are not making sense in how they behave, with little effect on the helicopter at all. Even turning on the assists has no effect.

This is a bug, plain and simple. I know everyone is trying to be helpful, but with all due respect stop saying it’s just that helicopters are “hard to fly.”

Honestly was expecting to be very challenging. Maybe flying the Huey in DCS did help.
Practice, practice.
It took me a while.

I’ve never flown a chopper before but was able to figure it out in a swift. Unless you’re talking about Xbox. I’m on PC all you have to do is power up then watch it float as you increase throttle then push the stick forward slightly to begin moving forward. Throttle down and slightly pull up to hover and descend.

Yeah I agree I am pretty upset about it. They can’t just be like oh you wanna fly helicopters, you must go out and buy a joystick, throttle, and rudder pedals. No controllers for you guys.

I hope some moderators is here following this topic. Help us , we Xbox users derserve to fly helis too

Wait, I’m not even Xbox user xd I have Hotas Warthog with throttle and joystick and rudders and I flying on PC. And I can’t control new helis with more than year flying on helicopters in MSFS.
I just send ticket to Asobo.

Maybe they should implement an easy flight mode for thoso who’s suffering from this issue (specially me lol)

hmm, strange. I am using MS SWFFB2 joystick on PC. I turned off assists too and am not having issues flying both helicopters. I have flown Helicopters in DCS for years though (Hind, Huey, AH-64D, Mi-8MTV2). Flew the Bell in XP11 as well.

Figured this was a gamepad issue so surprised someone is having issues with a Hotas Warthog.

Problem is that my friend have exactly the same setup and he have not problem at all  This is just magic for me. This is what I got, someone just post it in another topic: MSFS SU11 Helicopter issue - YouTube

Excuse me for providing feedback, but I don’t think it’s actually clear yet that there is a universal bug with console controllers. Maybe there is with the new heli specific binds. I’ve seen some people saying that they don’t work as expected but again I didn’t change any binds, and what I had set to fly planes worked just fine for me.

Anyways I tested and was also able to fly the Guimbal Cabri G2 with a xbox controller on pc so it’s not necessarily a universal issue with game pads.

Granted I couldn’t fly anywhere near as well as i could with a good joystick, but I wouldn’t call it uncontrollable (very difficult yes, but not quite what I’d call uncontrollable).

I’d say it’s about 60%/40% me not being used to flying helicopters with a xbox controller and a xbox controller just being a bad choice for flying helicopters.

The Warthog stick is not really that good for flying helicopters the spring is way too strong. Ideally a stick with no spring is really better for those very small cyclic inputs. I use an old Logitech G940 stick with the force feedback set vey light to give just a hint of resistance.

I’d like to add that there is most definitely an issue with the helicopters rotating wildly for me as well. I checked for double-bound controls and couldn’t find anything out of place. I can’t get three feet off the ground without it wobbling out of control completely. I’m using a warthog. No issues with helis in any other sim with this setup.
