How is Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 right now

Same here on the lag.

How do you enable ground services? I don’t see a control tower icon in the menu bar like there is in 2020.

Update: I somewhat figured it out. I went to the comment box icon in the pop up menu bar. Then filtered thru the Coms and finally saw Ground Services. I got some passengers walking. Was cool. But the process is more tedious than in 2020. Not a fan

Well, today it behaves surprisingly well. I’ve cleaned the StreamedDownloads and Packages, and there were no CTD since then. Even no stutters, so I finally got to enjoy the flight.

Tokyo looks so horrible in 2024. It was one of my favorite spots to tour in 2020. Now on Xbox it’s a giant gray blob. Ugh.

After the launch day debacle, I haven’t had any issues with it. A few bugs here and there with the planes, but felt very similar to 2020’s launch, and 2020 had fewer choices and less capable default planes than this one does.

It’s very hit or miss depending on how good Internet speeds are to the server. You might get a blurry mess, or super detailed trees.

Well, I think that might of been a bit of an over reaction, considering the sim is running fine now, all be it with a few bugs here and there, but nothing that prevents it from being enjoyable.

I’m genuinely happy for you.

Yeah, the draw distance is extremely low. A clear downgrade from MSFS 2020 on consoles.

Last couple of days it’s been fine for me on both Windows 10 & 11. I did have an issue when the patch was released that it wouldn’t load at all but an uninstall and reinstall fixed that.

A couple of annoying bugs but career mode is playing nicely

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Flight Simulator Support today.
If the troubleshooting steps hasn’t resolved the issue, we can only ask you to try again later. As you stated, this is most likely caused by issues on the server side and we are constantly investigating crashing logs we are automatically receiving from players. We are planning to release the next update to the sim this week that should mitigate most of the common crashing issues users are seeing.
Kind regards,
Microsoft Flight Simulator Support Team

I tried to do a Helicopter Pax Transport flight tonight.

First the Airport was IFR - There was not a single cloud in the sky.

Second the ATC crapped out a number of times to the point by the end of the 20 mile flight it was not working at all.

Third the aircraft at the departing airport has no landing gear and were magically hovering.

Fourth I was punished for not using the ATC and also for not communicating with 3 airports that I allegedly flew over. I knew over nil - no airports!

Five the helicopter base I was to land at did not exist and was at river level and was nothing but a blurry mash of textures.

Six the flight plan on the tablet was in completely the opposite direction. the actual route was not mapped on the tablet at all.

This was just one 20 mile flight.

So broken badly!

I had a good experience on the last weekend but now I’m back to the Loading Simulator 2024. Unable to access the simulator both on PC and also on the Xbox.

Did you try the ā€œempty folder workaroundā€?

With respect, but is it really up to us paying customers to do all kinds of ā€œworkaroundsā€ to get FS2024 to work?

Will tell you when it will stop crashing.
in 2h zero take offs, just CTD’s, so waiting either for AMD to push drivers or Asobo to roll out another fix. For now, for me it’s unplayable on my 5800X3D, 7900XT and 32GB RAM

This is for those that want to get up and running now, and there is no guarantee it’s a ā€œone fits allā€ solution, it may not work for everyone.
Flight simulators have always seemed to need workarounds.
I’ve been simming since the 80’s and I haven’t used one that didn’t need a workaround for something, not that this is an excuse, but this could help some folks that don’t want to wait for MSFS to solve the issue.

I don’t know what to tell you man. I have a couple other friends who are also playing this game quite regularly, and we’ve all be having minimal issues. I’ve only had 2 crashes related to the EFB (the second one was because I tried to do the same thing again to see if it would crash again). Load times have been fast, textures look great, frame rates have been stable, aircraft have been behaving as expected. Only other real issue I’ve had is that the EFB doesn’t update properly if I have it in pop-out mode, but like, meh, whatever. It’s not that big of a deal.

There are clearly some issues to resolve, but it’s also obvious that it’s not effecting the entire player base. That tells me the issues some people are very resolvable, it will just take more than the week they’ve had to get everyone’s game running smooth. Unreleasing a game that is working well for a decent chunk of people seems a little extreme.

Endless Loading and low bandwith warning for my night cert in the career right now :frowning:
Will be waiting for a patch/server Fix before trying again.
