What seems to be the trouble?
Some people seem to have problems with streaming, despite the announcement that the server-side problems have been correctly resolved.
Also, I read about a guy who plays on Xbox and canât get in. Loading is stuck at 97%.
The server issue they resolved had nothing to do with streaming.
It was a game breaking caching issue that was preventing people from starting the sim.
Ah, then I misunderstood. Iâm sorry!
@WellREDBarron
Havenât they exactly used the word streaming in the statement. What do you mean with streaming vs. Jörg using the word streaming?
And sorry for asking this question but I am clearly no nativ speaker.
We are happy to report that the issues regarding access and streaming have been resolved. The distribution layer capacity has been increased to handle the immense interest in the simulator and the reliability is now above 99.999%. Our servers and services are also all performing as expected.
Whatever it is, I hope it will be resolved as soon as possible. So that everyone can play.
It is clear why people are confused, as Jörg did say streaming⊠but he was talking about a different kind of streaming issue that had locked most people out of the sim in the early hours after release.
It was game breaking. Like, folks couldnât access the sim at all.
So that would seem to be the reason why the ground is still blurred at times, wouldnât it? It means that they clearly havenât solved everything yet⊠However, since all systems are operational and fully functional, the blurred terrain and all bugs are features, not bugs!
Clearly I am being ironic, and I hope it all works out.
Sorry what you describe sounds for me covered with the phrase/word âISSUES REGARDING ACCESSâ this is than in combination with âAND STREAMINGâ.
Followed by the clear and unmissleading statement
âOur servers and services are also all performing as expectedâ
Does this mean the current situation for a bunch of people has been expected?
Sorry all this was intentionel. This was not a quick tweet done out of his bedroom. This was and is a highliy reviewed statement that took almost 4 days. And I know there was a weekend in between. But I guess he is in a paygrade where it would be expectet to work a few hours on weekends in a crisis.
The ground issues are such a mess!
Some of it clearly is slow servers, or throttled servers sending texture data too slow to load as needed.
Some seems to be tied to TLOD settings for certain users. Anything but the highest TLOD can make background mountains blurry. That can get lumped in with other complaints about blurry textures.
And some folks just donât seem to like how things like grasses and the atmosphere seem to soften and blur textures, while others see it as added realism.
So it is a mess where several different kinds of issues are all being lumped together even though they have different sources.
Anyway, if things are loading slow for you just pause the sim (Esc) and watch as the high resolution texture tiles load in, and then fly once everything is loaded.
No matter how fast your internet connection, most are being throttled by MS server bandwidth limits.
While my experience since last Thursday has been generally OK, I did have some ups and downs today.
The downs: today all of a sudden my joystick and throttle/rudder did not work. Had to restart the sim three times, the last time with the peripherals unplugged and plugging them in after starting before it got resolved. I then tried a flight from Vancouver (CYVR) and I ran into the dreaded VRAM overflow issue. Scaled back some settings and things settled down again.
But then the up: nice flights with nice graphics. Some screenshot examples:
Cork has nice photogrammetry so I wanted to see what it looked like. Struggled a bit with framerate but it looked good.
And then close to home: flew from CYVR to Hope (CYHE). Photogrammetry certainly extends quite a long way: this shot showing a very nice rendering of the Alex Frasier bridge almost 20km from downtown Vancouver in the background.
Heading towards Abbotsford (my home town) with Mount Baker in the background
After landing at Hope
Yes, I still have a lot of the silly, annoying bugs that came back from 2020. But seeing this certainly gave me some HOPE for the future!
South of Boston - high end pc and internet - 10:00pm takes 6 minutes to load - 1:00am its better 3.5 mins to load - 6 mins to load is unacceptable and blurry textures
Not ideal to to have to use simulator at 1:00am
Had this happen to me today, nice 4 hour flight today and I never had issues with streaming until today. The airport is even a 3rd party scenery, not officially confirmed compatible by the developer as of now, but works fine when I start a flight from there.
In the video I was coming in to land RWY 17L into CYYC using the CAT III ILS and for at a moment I thought I was literally landing in zero zero visibility with the way it was looking. Once my wheels touched the ground was when I realized something was wrong and well there you have it.
PS if you are seeing this post less than 5 min ago, it is still probably processing the video
I havenât had a great deal of time to test 2024 this week but last weekend I managed a single short flight after getting my controls sorted.
Yesterday, I spent half a day frustrated that I was unable to complete a single flight. I found the main problem to be that my peripherals seemed to change to full on or off.
I literally just had to touch my joystick left or right and the aircraft would come out of AP and start to veer down and left and the throttle was either full on or full off.
Apart from the many bugs with the aircraft themselves and the ridiculous turbulence listed elsewhere.
Eventually, on my final attempt I managed the same short flight I made last weekend but in a light wind, the turbulence was ridiculous and I could hardly hold the 172 in a straight line.
I think Iâll give it a rest for a couple of weeks to see if the 2 promised patches improve the position as I canât waste 5 hours of my life to only manage one 30 minute flight in a 172.
My sim is working well right now, I only fly free flight. No problems with graphics.
A few sim freezes on certain aircraft when ending flight.
Airbus A400M is working very well⊠so far my favorite of new aircraft.
Still go back to 2020 when I want to fly other purchased 3rd party planes.
I also donât think âserver side issues resolvedâ, I am trying to start the sim multiple times now but itâs stuck at â0% Loading languageâ. The other sim it is today thenâŠ
Did you, @saschpe , check that your OS clock is in-sync?
I found the reason, when steam is in offline mode, the game never goes above 0%.
