How many people have FS2024 but still choose FS2020?

Problem is it isnt a major rewrite, MSFS 2024 is blatantly a version of 2020 carried on in another direction, it has the same ATC as 2020 is even has some of the same bugs as 2020 which for a complete re write should be impossible.
Some bugs that were fixed in 2020 are present in 2024 so this came away from 2020 a long time ago and in a lot of ways is inferior

I remember when they told us that it was going to be new code, because FSX had evolved as far as it could.

I think they lied to us.

Pop in and out of FS24 to see whats/not working but for a serious sim session its FS20

As a Xbox Series X user I have reached my limit with 2024. I love flying helicopters in both games, however with 2024 I have reached a point that has become almost a stalemate. Unless you want to just free flight all the time like in 2020 you may be pleased. But 2024 was to offer a mode in which to do rescues (sadly there are only a few and its always the same route) and agriculture flight (sadly there are none for helicopters), hoist rescue, after one rescue it goes away. Tour flights get old quickly however there are many challenges to the cargo transport. I am not saying one or the other but getting this game (2024) up to what microsoft intended is going to be challeging and I know the team is working hard. Final thought, cannot wait for future updates and see where Microsoft 2024 can take us! Thank you

London Heathrow to Bristol.

There is a GND to 60,000 ft around Salisbury Plain. Military exercise zone.

Fly over that, the men in uniform will be round

I went back to FS20 for several days but it just seems less alive when flying and I can only fly with preset clouds because the live weather clouds don’t look good to me. It is true that the ground looks better and you can actually read all of the aircraft dash (C152). BUT!.. FS24 is just more alive and, today at least, I had two great flights where the weather and clouds were not only great in both locations but for the second flight, it was actually correct to both the METAR and a pretty good match to what I saw when I went outside to get the mail and do house prep for an upcoming freeze.
and then theres a simple thing like the clouds not glowing red at sunset:

I’m glad I have both sims.

I would venture to say FS2020 is the better airliner sim (in terms of functionality, performance, and compatible aircraft) and FS2024 is the better sim for GA flying (because of the better lighting engine, new trees, new night lighting, enhanced ground contact and flight model system). Being that I fly only airliners, I will be using FS2020 until FS2024 becomes more airliner-friendly. I would love to be surprised, but I don’t think that will happen until June for sure, maybe even later…

Yes and probably several other aircraft that flew perfectly well on '20 but won’t on '24. My biggest disappoinment is the Just Flight Avro Vulcan - I never even tried flying it on 24. Got it running and tried controls they give it flaps instead of elevons!!! And if they don’t know why you can’t have flaps on a tail-less delta they should stick to being a tree-simulator which 24 is even more of than 20.

I did say it was a challenge.
But it is a simulator. You can go anywhere you like. Land next to the stones. Walk up to them, kick them and for all I know in 2024 carry them off with one of those new crane thingies. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I tried FS24 but I continue to use FS20, why : reason is simple.
Front view without cockpit panels was possible with a tweak on FS20 (for homecockpit users), in 2024 nothing…

this simple option missing is a big mess for homecockpit users on FS24 (seems I bought it day-one for nothing)…

In some ways you confirm what I was saying. The code rewrite I assume was a technical thing but the function should not change. It is just that the underlying code needed to change. So you cant just say it is the same as 2020 because the functionality is the same.
A car manufacturer may decide to have the lights of the car controlled by a computer black box instead of hard wires with a switch. But as a user you use the same ā€˜stalk’ on the steering wheel. You wouldnt notice that at the backend much has changed.
I am assuming this is what has happened in 2024. Or at least was the intention. But much that was already new written code since FSX will have been ported ofcourse. It is just that they added too much new functionality in one go. Eventually it will come right I am sure and when 2024 has reached the point of stability in free flight comparable with 2020 I will buy it.

Im gonna let MSFS2024 sit for a year!
MSFS2020 runs better, looks better, works better. MSFS2024 is, by far, way more frustrating to use in literally every aspect

MSFS 2020.

2024 just makes me so frustrated every time I try and get it to work. The VR is truly abysmal and clearly wasn’t tested properly. Either that or they’re quite comfortable with lying to relieve people of their hard earned cash. Open to other suggestions but I can’t think of any that make sense. It’s either incompetence or poor character. Neither are desirable traits.

I’ve written up 55 bug reports for 2024. I could have written up many more, but didn’t due to exasperation with it. I’ve also contributed to input on many bugs that other users have written up.

I want to use 2024, but I can’t do so without finding bugs and issues every time I use it, which brings me here to write them up.

I really want 2024 to be the sim I use. However, I’m tired, I’m unpaid and this cycle of me finding bugs and reporting them on endless rinse and repeat is not what I want from a flight simulator experience.

I’m back to flying 2020, because 95%+ of my time investment is in actual enjoyment of the wonder of flight. Issues exist, but I know how to avoid them for the most part and they aren’t the blatant, in-your-face, issues that 2024 has.

Until 2024 can provide a similar experience, I have to stay away from it for my own mental health. I can’t be the foolishly loyal unpaid Quality Assurance Technician whose efforts are largely ignored by Microsoft.

I agree with you, I am getting tired of all these bugs. My log book records the flights but my total hours are stuck at 81. I have at least 150 hours. Start a flight and the plane was upside down on the runway. I too think I am going to switch back to 2020

Well I refunded 2024 because there was no immersion with all the showstopping bugs and crashes. I know it works for a lot of people but it feels like it’s current state is a national geographic simulator. Great in mountains and plains but once you start viewing cities it’s laughable (Trees unproportionally big and way too many…all cities look post apocalyptic). Not to mention the terrible rendering at high altitudes with IFR flights amidst all other bugs of unfinished/unusable aircraft (and also awful VR implementation and performance). This graph says a lot eh Asobo?

This is the truth, 24 works well in small aircraft but once you get into the heavys 2020 is much much better.
24 in the heavy is a complete fail, it looks worse than what 2020 ever did. If people think 24 was made for gamers on Xbox they clearly haven’t seen 24 on Xbox because it’s borderline criminal that it’s still on sale. It close to the worse release I’ve seen on Xbox. You see in a controlled hardware environment that console provides the games generally don’t have a plathora of bugs that 2024 has. It looks like Minecraft on console in a heavy jet. It’s getting a 2 star rating on console, worse than truck/train and goat simulator. Worse than 2020. I’m pretty sure the Xbox numbers are matching steams, more gamers are back on 2020, career mode or not

I really wish people would stop posting those graphs. thats not the whole picture. wheres the Cloud gaming, wheres the Microsoft Store purchased copies. the steam graphs mean little. People would post those for Xplane too, and just as meaningless.

You can easily extrapolate the trend with the other platforms. If we could see the whole picture, the difference between MSFS2020 with more players and MSFS2024 would be even bigger

Not really. I could easily say that most xplane purchasers bought directly from laminar research than from steam without any further information or confirmation. We dont know .
