How many people have FS2024 but still choose FS2020?

Why do you care why we care?

Please tell me why should I.

Edit: Actually don’t, I don’t care.

Folks, keep your posts on topic please.
Keep the personal posts out of the forums.

On Xbox I can guarantee 2024 is much worse than 2020, even when 2020 launched it wasn’t this bad. So for those that say this is for console gamers Asobo have missed the mark here too

So not properly tested then.

I see your point. It would be good to see the more complete records from MS.

But they won’t release them - too embarassing. So these are the best we have.

probably not,

I have been wondering the same really. I am not sure there is a purpose to posting these specially in this forum. If one posts graphs then you better ensure you are aware of the complete researched data behind it. These partial graphs mean nothing as they arent complete. Folks will decide for themselves whether to invest in 2024 or not. They will base that decision on actual user contributions. these graphs are meaningless surely.

I am a bit baffled that you seem to think you are entitled to see Microsoft confidential commercial data. This is getting a bit weird. Why on Earth would they share that kind of detail with customers?

All I’d like to see is a comparison between FS2020 and FS2024 - this doesn’t have to be absolute data.

This is the sort of data shared by X-Plane, see http://dashboard.x-plane.com/. They obviously do think it OK to share such data with their customers. Steam seem happy about it, as well.

For example, would you consider this to be Commercial data:

Of course, many companies do release actual usage numbers, notably in the broadcasting industry, which is not a million miles away from the software industry.

FYI, a lot of information about how users use MSFS was presented at the Sunday session of last summers’ FSExpo:

You can see a timeline of the whole presentation here, including:

Topic Notes
Audience 15 million players, monthly basis, by platform.
Marketplace 1 million purchasers, pay rates by platform, paying players, purchases by continent, category, revenue by platform.
Pricing & Quality User research, why did you not purchase content?, Actual purchase behavior, purchase heat maps, royalties

IMO, it is too early to do a comparison between the two versions - A comparison after, say, six months might be more relevant, once the Marketplace has opened.

I would consider that in the first instance as an advert. But yes in essence it is commercial data.
But what I do not understand and this was the point of my remark why you feel entitled to this data or what it would add.
For example lets assume MS gives you all the data you feel they should, what difference will that make to your usage or enjoyment of either Sim?

I have already bought the Aviator version, despite already owning the PD version of FS2020, so you can see I started off hopeful of the new update.

Since then, I have been trying to like FS2024, but for me so many things go wrong, or underperform etc that I now spend far more time flying in FS2020 then FS2024. So I don’t know if it’s me (that I haven’t given FS2024 enough of a chance), or if I have wasted my money and really should have a grievance.

The statistics I’ve seen from Steam indicate the latter, but these have been thrown in doubt by some posters, claiming it’s not a representative sample. So is it or isn’t it? If the full statistics really do show that simmers are reverting to FS2020, and if I know that MS/Asobo know that, then I will feel more compulsion to push them hard for solutions. On the other hand, if the statistics indicate that relatively few people are reverting to FS2020 and therefore don’t back up my choice of FS2020, then I will take note, and as a result probably try harder to get FS2024 working properly.

At the end of the day, I am just looking for a sim I can enjoy, and not get frustrated with. This is the position I’m in, whether you agree with me or not.

With all the problems Microsoft Simulator of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has, I’m really happy how the majority of the complaints are made in a polite and even understanding way.

In all honesty, more than the plethora of bugs/bad coding this software has, there’s only one thing that annoys me, lack of communication from those that are responsible.

I hear from mods that we’re being heard, certainly doesn’t feel that way on this side.

Meanwhile, i’ll remain seated on the sidelines waiting for patches that address what is impeding me from playing.

I pre bought msfs 2024. Horrible launch that prompted refund request, which was denied because hours trying to setup and launch correctly was deemed to be game usage. Lets see how fast the next version interest might equal 2024. Not me for sure. Will never pre order or purchase at launch again. Uninstalled 2024 in December and just play 2020. At least i can enjoy a stable game and not waste another year or so trying to wait for 2024 to stabilize. FYI, Play the sims on xbox x. Great console, ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  2024

Like many others I pre-bought the aviator edition, and had all the same issues everyone one is having. I have about 15 hours flying time in 2024 since it released…

At first I was like it’ll get better so waisted so much time trying to get 2024 to work, then quickly returned to 2020. After the patches I tried 2024 again, a little better but still so many issues. I have limited time to fly in-sim, so that time is precious to me. Since the last patch, I’ve spent all my time in 2020 only. It’s stable, the only aircraft I fly actually work, and VR is stable and smooth.

I fly mostly GA VFR and the occasional airliner, so I don’t want to waste time messing about with settings, CTDs, and poor performance. When 2024 is fixed, I’ll go back to it, for now I’ll stick with 2020!

I believe the way it works is that Inibuilds was the developer of the Antonov 225, but Asobo bought it from them. It’s no longer Inibuild’s aircraft to fix. I could be wrong, but I believe that is why none of the ā€œlocal legendsā€ and other monthly Asobo releases were ever improved. They were purchased from the developer so the developer didn’t have the right to touch the aircraft again unless Asobo asked them to.

I think not Asobo but Microsoft owns the LL and FF fleet of aircraft.

I see where you are coming from.
I am reminded of how 2020 started so that in some ways gives me hope. As an old hand at Software releases and management I would never pre order or buy at launch. However I do not think you have wasted your money. All the issues I have read about are very fixable, so I suggest you hang in there. The improvement since launch seems to be very promising.
I do have to smile though when I read now how stable and nice 2020 is for many. It always was for me. I am lucky. But it wasnt that long ago that these collumns where full of complains about 2020.
So I think give it time, 2024 will come good and I am sure I will entually buy it.
