With all the problems Microsoft Simulator of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has, I’m really happy how the majority of the complaints are made in a polite and even understanding way.
In all honesty, more than the plethora of bugs/bad coding this software has, there’s only one thing that annoys me, lack of communication from those that are responsible.
I hear from mods that we’re being heard, certainly doesn’t feel that way on this side.
Meanwhile, i’ll remain seated on the sidelines waiting for patches that address what is impeding me from playing.
I pre bought msfs 2024. Horrible launch that prompted refund request, which was denied because hours trying to setup and launch correctly was deemed to be game usage. Lets see how fast the next version interest might equal 2024. Not me for sure. Will never pre order or purchase at launch again. Uninstalled 2024 in December and just play 2020. At least i can enjoy a stable game and not waste another year or so trying to wait for 2024 to stabilize. FYI, Play the sims on xbox x. Great console, ■■■■■■ 2024
Like many others I pre-bought the aviator edition, and had all the same issues everyone one is having. I have about 15 hours flying time in 2024 since it released…
At first I was like it’ll get better so waisted so much time trying to get 2024 to work, then quickly returned to 2020. After the patches I tried 2024 again, a little better but still so many issues. I have limited time to fly in-sim, so that time is precious to me. Since the last patch, I’ve spent all my time in 2020 only. It’s stable, the only aircraft I fly actually work, and VR is stable and smooth.
I fly mostly GA VFR and the occasional airliner, so I don’t want to waste time messing about with settings, CTDs, and poor performance. When 2024 is fixed, I’ll go back to it, for now I’ll stick with 2020!
I believe the way it works is that Inibuilds was the developer of the Antonov 225, but Asobo bought it from them. It’s no longer Inibuild’s aircraft to fix. I could be wrong, but I believe that is why none of the “local legends” and other monthly Asobo releases were ever improved. They were purchased from the developer so the developer didn’t have the right to touch the aircraft again unless Asobo asked them to.
I see where you are coming from.
I am reminded of how 2020 started so that in some ways gives me hope. As an old hand at Software releases and management I would never pre order or buy at launch. However I do not think you have wasted your money. All the issues I have read about are very fixable, so I suggest you hang in there. The improvement since launch seems to be very promising.
I do have to smile though when I read now how stable and nice 2020 is for many. It always was for me. I am lucky. But it wasnt that long ago that these collumns where full of complains about 2020.
So I think give it time, 2024 will come good and I am sure I will entually buy it.
Because 2024 is so broken, I adopted a similar, but slightly different approach. I considered uninstalling 2024, but having paid £200 for something that is certainly not a step forward from 2020 (they refused the refund), I decided to only use 2024 in free-flight, which avoids most bugs, but does make things a bit limiting…albeit, I have at least something installed on my PC for the cash I have paid out. I obviously have 2020 installed as well.
I did that too, but today got tired even of the free flight bugs with the “half-cooked” airplanes, specially some of the premium deluxe ones and went back to 2020
I didn’t think I would ever respond to this topic… but here we are. After a huge amount of tweaking and trying to convince myself that FS2024 can be made to work, I’ve given up. I reinstalled FS2020 and I use that now. 24 is just too full of bugs and simply does not run as well or as reliably (yet). I also don’t like the streaming aspect of it: I would prefer to buy a 6 TB SSD and install the scenery on there if necessary than have to depend on servers and the bandwidth of my internet connection (which is 1 Gbit, but the download is still laggy, probably due to MS’ server). It was a huge mistake to force users to stream - especially aircraft. That decision is utter madness.
I may revisit FS2024 if and when it has been patched / updated. But in my view, the developers need to completely re-evaluate their strategy with it.
Why don’t they offer a loaded hard drive version. I was playing a role playing game once that the developer offered a memory stick loaded with all the books pdf.
I would have considered that as an option instead of pre ordering for 2024.
mm… it’s for X-plane 12 so a few years old and “The data shown here comes only from paying users of the X-Plane 11 simulator who have opted in to data collection.”
Since it’s “opt-in” it’s going to be quite limited.
I am not sure there is really any underlying reason.
I believe someone simple thought it a neat idea and everybody agreed. But nobody then thought to check with users as that would ‘give the game away’ as it were. Seems to me that there are two distinct users emerging:
Those happy with a Sim that focusses just on flying
Those that like the gaming aspects.
The great irony is that right now each of these groups appear to have access to their own Sim that appeals to their preference. 2020 and 2024. Long may this situation continue.
The streaming decision in itself probably wasnt madness but a necessity due to the amount of data that would have to be stored.
The implimentation though needs work, no doubt.
Today was the day for me…after endless frustration with 2024 I switched back to 2020. Whished I made this decision much earlier. Now I concentrate again on the joy of flying. Perhaps some far day I try 2024 again, but very sure not for the next months.
Having gone through the 2020 launch, which was rough as well, I held off on 2024 to see how it would go. Glad I did. It took 2020 a good 6-8 months of patching to really get most things nailed down. I expect the same here, for 2024. What bothered me back then, and I assume it will continue in 2024 is the slow pace of updates, an update once a month or every two months. And then, when they do an update, it’s like 2 steps ahead, one back…because it will fix things and then break others. My other concern is, whatever updates we do get will initially focus on the career mode, and those of us, that are more hard core simmers will have to wait even longer to be able to enjoy 2024 to the same level we could in 2020. When I can fire up 2024, and have confidence it will just work, and I can just focus on enjoying high fidelity aircraft, then I’ll be all in 2024…
