How old is Tokyo photogrammetry?

I wonder how old the photogrammetry of tokyo is. Because when flying on the olympic village there is nothing. Because they have already been finished since june. And you cant even see the construction of them? Also on the island next to is(Toyosu) is complety flat. So this must mean the pictures from this are more like 1/2 years old?

Based on this guy still being at Diver City, looking at around March 2017 at newest.

Older that 2015 for sure they miss some new buildings and the old olimpic stadium still there

“Kachidoki The Tower” skyscraper was completed in January, 2017.
The sim shows the contruction site at a very early state, probably around 2015.

This Ad in Akihabara seems 2014.

Is it because it takes so long to process or what?

It’s hard to believe that MS would just have photogrammetry data of Tokyo lying around for 6 years without ever using / publishing it, but it’s even harder to believe that it would take 6 years to process it…

Edit: But this could also mean, there’s lots of other data lying around just waiting to be integrated into the sim which is a good thing.

The google maps photogrammetry is from one year ago around i dont how MS cant get a newer one

Cheaper for older ones?

Whine whine whine. Seriously though does anyone fly or do ppl just play with drone camera all day finding new ways to whine.
I’m happy I have very little issues and the game looks amazing. Thanks Asobo and MSFT

I doubt locals need much of a look to notice that the city is out of date, particularly not in case of one preparing for Olympics. I’d immediately notice in my hometown at least due to unfinished buildings.

That being said, I find it hilarious that somebody dated MSFS Japan by a grainy vintage ■■■■ game ad in Akiba.

I dont complain about it being old. I love that we finnaly have 3d tokyo etc. But i just find it strange that its from like 5 years ago or something? Like if microsoft had this data laying around for so long. Why didnt they add it into bing maps if they want to make it compete to google maps?

This person found a poster (and works in Japan a bunch) so they believe it’s from the 2014 timeframe. But I’ve never been there so it’s new enough for me.

As the poster above me said. The photogrammetry is precisely from September 2014 looking at the billboards in Akihabara, which are changed regularly. The Destiny billboard on the front face of Sofmap was up there only in September 2014.

Source: I was there :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d be interested in knowing if there is any chance for photogrammetry to be updated when and if Bing acquires new materials, but I’m sure modders will work on the missing landmarks much before Bing gets around to it.
