How to get rid of the White dot in cockpit view (Not working under SU12) (Xbox, controller only)

It is, and the workaround to get rid of it is not ideal.

Correct and it is not a true workaround as it only works under some circumstances. Infact every time it is mentioned that there is a workaround it is just distracting from the real issue: We just want to be able to switch it off. Completely.

100% agree.

Argh, it’s so annoying! I didn’t have this issue until this week and SU11. One of the work-arounds works (pressing the left stick, pressing the d-pad, then pressing the left stick again), but I hope the developers take note and just let us toggle the dot on and off easily (I’m on Xbox Series X). It used to just disappear by clicking the left stick a few times.

Well we all want the same thing here but there is not point in keeping a workaround for yourself either. Won’t work for everyone but if it works for me, worth sharing.

If it can makes life easier for some, it’s still a win for me.

Let’s hope for a switch soon

The only real sollution here is to plug in a Hotas/Yoke. Notice with the Hotas plugged in the white dot vanishes? Such a massive fail. Someone please add some white boxes to the Mona Lisa it’s actually way worse. Also don’t forget the bugged out VR cursor…

Here I fixed how it actually looks in the sim…

Hey you stole my artwork. :upside_down_face::upside_down_face::upside_down_face:

Your version is far more realistic though. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::squinting_face_with_tongue::grinning_face:

And funnily enough, I’ve just been looking at various Hotas on Amazon for this very reason. (I do have yoke and rudders but it’s not always convenient to set them up). Perhaps that was the plan all along.

It is more convenient to set the left key of Dpad to “Switch on Cursor”, just double-click the left key of Dpad to eliminate the white dot.

This works, thanks for the advice. Ideally we should be able to turn the white dot off in the menu. But this is not a bad workaround.

The control menu item is “cursor toggle”. I had the left Dpad set to parking brake, but I just put the parking brake to a key bind instead.

Yeah it works and it’s much easier than my workaround! Thanks for sharing guys!
That said, I only have to press Left Dpad once, don’t even need to double-click (could be just me).
Anyway, that’s very convenient, thank you again!

Thanks for the suggestion. This is a different setting compared to the default press left stick? By the way, can’t this button be used? Because the left stick should already be the one to successfully show/hide the cursor. Maybe this is a new setting implemented after the latest update?

Sorry for so many questions. Can’t check this currently because I uninstalled Flight Simulator on Xbox Series X to free some (huge) space after they told us the fix for the atrocious graphics downgrade won’t be available until (at least) mid January. Was also already so annoyed by this white dot new behavior too, by the way.

Oh, also can’t forget Variable Refresh Rate not working anymore to offer more than 30 FPS too.

Did you use “Switch on Cursor” or “Cursor Toggle”?

Cursor toggle is the one to use

Thanks for this advice, it’s helped.

Interestingly, when you set ‘Cursor Toggle’ like this, the left button on the d-pad works as expected, but pressing the left stick doesn’t. It’s strange that two different inputs for the same action work in different ways - it must be a bug involving the left stick.

If you clear the left stick command and set only left directional pad, in it’s place, does it still work as expected? Or both must be set this way you shown?

It works. Because my left stick key has been set to brake.

Yeh if you clear left stick and only use the directional button it still works as expected. I was just trying to troubleshoot with my screenshot!

Not 100% related to the topic, but if anyone has the deimos Saab plane the latest update has added a white dot in the HUD - exactly like this bug but in miniature…

Thanks for the post, only took me a month or two to find it :+1:

Cursor toggle does not work for me. Has anyone heard anything about this issue being addressed in the coming update? We also need the boxes on the MFD and PFD that appear when looking at them to also be toggled OFF. If you look how far back this issue goes it should have a high priority. It has only been made worse recently in Su11. I just fired up the sim for the first time in ages to try and see if I could get the workaround working but nope.

Hope that someone from Asobo or Microsoft actually reads this and realizes that this issue NEEDS to be fixed ASAP.
