This guy has a great channel that puts out quality/quantity content.
This latest video has a discussion that might open some minds. His set up(not shown in this video) is really nice too.
A reminder from our Standard Operating Procedure before folks get in this thread:
One World, One Community - No matter how you play – regardless of console, experience level, or reason – we are one community of aviation lovers
Keep it civil. Thanks.
I’ll jump in here ( and probably get into trouble for stating the obvious)
Its not a question of if you are a “PC User” or an “X-box User”, that makes you WELCOME to the FlightSim Community –
Its what sort of person you are, and how well you “play with others” that really matters, — to everyone.
Too Subtle ?
frankly i think its a Horrible video imo
he spends all that time Bashing “pc users” for something he says he read/saw/experienced on All forums and what not without giving ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE - something i have not seen myself anywhere
maybe im just not in the same forums/discords he is in idk
this is something i would expect from say Avsim. they are known for being rude but afaik they are unique in that aspect
i fly in a group of discord/twitch people that invite and fly with anyone, and the only downside i can see is the xbox doesnt allow the great 3rd party mods we in the group tend to use - hardly something to hold against the console players, and we welcome All simmers
many also stream on xbox (streamers may also be open to more hate than others just because they themselves put themselves in the spotlight) he should not apply his stream content to All the Community
i thinik he needs to find a better breed of pc user friends
I only skimmed through the video, so I must admit first and foremost that I probably missed some pertinent points.
However… In my opinion the more platforms that we can help engage and encourage anyone to take part in aviation, whatever their play styles, methods, or way of communicating is better for all of us. It should be as simple as that. We are all different, we should respect that but take enjoyment that our hobby is building rather than dying out!
It is a great time to be a flight simulator enthusiast
LOL - I did not even bother to waste my time even starting the Video …
I respect everyone’s opinion. Not everyone will really agree to the same thing in life, but this is what makes each person unique. I don’t believe that bashing each other for having a different opinion is okay, and I hope it is something that can be understood one day.
I’m liking the overall responses thus far.
However I can say from my experience on these forums, I have seem examples he’s referring to. Now they are not the majority, and many post get flagged/deleted, but there for sure has been many with an attitude from some that PC users are superior.
I can understand how it happens. It’s a mixture of youth/immaturity, not being raised right, and when Xbox initially released, the pc version seemed to be dumbed down in some ways. That’s no fault of Xbox users, but I think PC people equated the (brief) dumbing down of the system as a way to market to another platform, as marketing to an inferior customer.
This particular youtuber is very informed and in touch with the overall welcome vibe of the flight sim community. As a PC user, I’ve learned a few things from watching his channel.
I hope maybe someone who has a negative stereotype about Xbox players watches the video and/or see’s the responses to this point and perhaps does away with the stereotype that PC users are superior to Xbox users.
In my experience the flight sim community has been overwhelmingly positive.
I’ve experienced some of the “hate” he’s talking about tbh but rarely here (apart from some classic comments as “get a pc”)
On this forum people generally are always very kind and helpful though it’s not uncommon to see weird comments on reddit and yt
I guess as always in life it all comes down to people preconceptions
This question is basically like asking "how welcome are ppl running the sim on an NVidia GPU. It’s just another configuration of one and the same packed in a different piece of plastic. There’s by far worse specs out there Asobo has to puzzle the software around than an xbox.
I think you need to define “community”. It’s a concept I don’t like. It feels too “clubby”, “chummy”, exclusive etc.
When I started on CompuServe there were disparate users on disparate topics. Now it’s a “community” that, almost by definition, actively encourages side-taking, trolling and argument. And it’s that activity and mental locked-in attitude so prevalent on many fora, that leads to mundanity and stagnation.
I prefer free-speech and individualism, without the necessity of being pigeon-holed into a “community”.
As far as I am concerned, it doesn’t matter to me what platform people use. Anyone dissing another on the grounds of hardware should be censored for being elitist. I’m pleased there are so many XBOX users as the funds will help keep MicroSoft in development money. And that’s the best outcome for everyone enjoying this game.
this. I think that’s the real deal
To be honest I don’t care what he thinks
Well, this welcome:
I think it’s great having Xbox simmers. Not everyone can afford to drop big money on a decent PC so having it on console increases the accessibility and more people flight simming can only be a good thing.
Sorry, never heard of Ben Shapiro. I searched for him - not my cuppa tea.
Thank you bro for the support much love!
