PSU requirements are almost always exaggerated.
I’ve got a 9900k, RTX 3080, 4x DIMMs, 2x M.2, 2x SSD, 1 HDD, water pump, 8 fans, soundcard and a bunch of USB stuff. All running fine on 850W.
Bought a power consumption meter out of curiosity and the most I’ve ever seen it draw from the wall is 560W.

thanks for the info! i will consider this
Very good information: had I known when I built mine (3800X, rtx3060) I could probably have “gotten away with” my 550w … Nah, it’s just too risky and at least with 850 I can sleep at night (which is not easy for an insomniac )
Make sure that any usb hub you pick plugs in to the wall for power and doesn’t depend on the pc for power.

ok thanks for the info but how would it connect to the PC if its plugging into the wall?
because the USB hub is for my keyboard, mouse, mousemat, thrustmaster TCA airbus throttle and sidestick, logitech camera and stream dec
wait, wait wait wait. i found one, tell me if you think its good 10-Port USB Hub - Anker
Sorry about that. All of the usb cables from the hum do plug in to the pc. For some hubs, that’s it. For the kind I’m humbly suggesting, there will be a sperate cable to plug in to the wall, i.e. an a/c adapter.

Hey, back to my main point will all these specs I’ve talked about run MSFS in good graphics, what graphics settings do you think it will run? I.e. medium, high, ultra
what graphics settings would you recommend for the specs ive chose? i want good graphics but also good fps (around 60 maybe less) also i plan to use vr but not all the time
I think that should wait till you have it first … if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s that much can change in a short space of time with MSFS.

alright, ill take your word for it, when i first go in do you think EGLL is a good place to start adjusting settings. PS: whilst MSFS is downloading im gonna donwload all my scenery + liveries and addons so its all there too
Pick somewhere a little less busy but still large and detailed enough to have an impact, having aircraft roll by every two minutes is not ideal

Hey, turns out that I have an extra £100 to spend on my pc. Do you think I should use it to go from i5-12600k to i7-12700k? It seems pretty good to me
Why don’t you just ask what cheese is the moon made of? … your rig, your money.
(it’s Wensleydale btw)
Alright, also would the i7-12700k bottleneck with the RTX 3070 just getting used to all this PC stuff
(I thought it was mozzarella)
For the last ten or twelve years, I have used the vertical pole system, to which you clamp articulating arms for your monitor(s) and this worked well until we moved. My new office is set up above a double garage and delightful though it is, it meant that I was limited because of the sloping roofline. The old pole had become a bit of a problem. Read on…
Earlier this year, I purchased a gas arm monitor mount and this solves the problem as any vertical restrictions can be coped with easily, because of the increased articulation and flexibility of the mount. You just place your monitor where you want it to be and the gas strut holds it there, so you can have a desk against the sloping roofline and lose a mere fraction of the space that the old system would impose on you. These mounts are now cheap and they used to be really expensive. Here in UK, around £30 per arm is about right for a well engineered and elegant solution. I already have the one arm but for Christmas now have another four to go in and I can retire the old system completely.

For MSFS it would let you raise traffic settings and LODs with less impact but framerates won’t differ that much. Don’t forget higher LODs are available in UserCfg but then playing at 4k your 79Mbps internet would struggle. For VR really you would a 3080 or 90 to do it full justice IMO but as I have neither these gpu’s nor this cpu (or VR for that matter) I can’t say much more.
