How are you going to deal with ground textures? I started exploring doing a wartime airbase but replacing the modern satellite imagery with colourised 1940s aerial photos was going to be a prohibitively big job. The alternative of ground polygons never looked natural enough, at least with my attempts.

And yes, getting ground textures to look natural is challenging.
Fortunately we have 73 miles retexturing experience from Hadrian’s Wall to draw on and for Kenley, I am hoping that the camouflage on the ground surfaces might help to break things up.

@PipsPriller In case the RAF was still flying Gloster Gladiators out of Kenley in 1940, there is discussion over in the SimOutHouse forums of converting one from FSX o FS2020: Gloster Gladiator | SOH Forums

Thanks for the tip off - yes Kenley was home to Gladiators of 3 and 615 Squadrons in the immediate prewar period, before they reequipped with Hurricanes.
The change over also coincided with Kenley acquiring its perimeter track, blast pens etc so would it would provide another version of the airfield.
Hi all, I thought it was time to share some wip images of our static 64 Squadron Spitfires and 615 Squadron Hurricanes.
Each model will have a unique squadron code letter and aircraft serial number. Where possible we are using serials for aircraft known to have been at Kenley on August 17th 1940.

Those statics look great! Might suggest you darken the brown and green on the Spit and Hurri.

Thanks for that, I can see what you mean. Getting the colour match right is definitely something we want to do so we will have a look at that.
