IndiaFoxtEcho F35 Lightning

Another IFT plane that sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Sounds matter. Hope they fix it.

You’re complaining about the sound I’m complaining that I half to potentially wait 2-3 more months than you to even buy the plane because of asobos lack of man power and planes for us xbox players lol

I’m a little worried about that HUD projection floating over the top of the MFD during startup. That doesn’t look right at all. I know the F-35 doesn’t use a standard cockpit HUD system (it uses a pilot’s augmented-reality helmet-mounted display) but it still looks a bit weird.

As for sounds, internal sounds are fine for me, but externally, it sounds quite odd. The engine here sounds like the fan resonances you hear from a large high-bypass, low-RPM airliner turbofan spinning inside a modern composite fan cowling as heard from the ground when it flies overhead at low-medium altitude. Videos of real F-35B takeoffs that I’ve seen do not sound like this. They sound much more like typical, low-bypass high thrust military turbofans.

All of that aside, the aircraft does look like a fun bit of kit and will probably be enjoyed by a lot of simmers.

I just hope they’ll reverse engineer all the sound stuff from the F18 and apply it here, to hear the growling engines at distance when friends to fly-bys.

That was odd. I’m guessing it was supposed to represent the helmet-mounted display coming on, but that’s just my take, not anything official.

As far as sound is concerned - the “design intent” section of Dino’s homepage includes a reference to “simple sound package,” so I’m not sure that there’s going to be a huge improvement. I’m willing to tell myself that the cockpit sounds represent a noise-cancelling headset - but that doesn’t have anything to do with the externals.

I’ll take it on its own terms and let some things slide - have had happy experiences with Dino’s stuff - but others’ mileage may vary…

Difficult problem for them to solve that one I guess. Its the sort of thing I can imagine them changing a lot on feedback after release. Its the one thing that should come into its own in VR though.

It shouldnt be that long. At the rate things are dropping weekly on Xbox now, Im not as worried. They know a large portion of people on PC will opt for freeware versions. The people I play with on xbox will have no qualms with spending money on especially the F35 and its variants. My guess is 2 weeks after it drops on the PC marketplace we will see it. I could be wrong BUT JUST TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY!

Pc marketplace maybe but from all the information ice gathered from 3rd party devs cause Asobo can’t even tell you what time of day it is it probably will be a month or 2 before console players get to see it indiafox even mentions they are months behind they don’t release anything for xbox they rely 99 percent on 3rd party devs and 1 percent on play testing to get us the product they also have my money as well f35 and f16 I need them now

Out now on Simmarket.

Oooooo grabbing it now!

Things not looking good so far, certainly not with the B variant anyway. Two attempts at taking off, two CTD.

F-35A CTD on approach to CYVR by FSDreamteam. Looking good and flying good in VR. On the Beta. Thanks so much for this beauty!

Just had two successful flights in the A variant and B variant. Absolutely fantastic plane and amazing fun. The modelling work really is top notch with IndiaFoxtEcho. As good as it gets. There’s a few low res decals on the plane, for performance reasons I guess, but everything else is fantastic. They’ve really nailed the fuselage texture of the real thing very well in the sim.

The VTOL capabilities of this aircraft are going to be great fun exploring and learning how to operate properly.

Two flights, two CTD, are on the beta version of the sim.

I must say my first two flights resulted in a CTD. Both happened at different phases of flight (taxiing vs flying) but roughly after the same amount of time in the flight. Could be a memory leak. I don’t have many addons aside from aircraft and airports. I do have the PMS GTN as well as the NXi if those are known to cause issues?

No CTD issues here, but the throttle on my joystick won’t work with the aircraft?

If you’re on the SU7 Patch Beta, try mapping Throttle 1 axis instead of Throttle. We discovered that in the F-35 Beta Test.

I confirm that it works

That did it! Thank you! Last, question (loving the aircraft so far) while in A/P in RTE mode is there a way to increase VS in which autopilot climbs/desecends?

Not that I’m aware of. I think you’re limited by whatever default AP logic is embedded - which is the sim, not the jet. I just received my production copy last night and haven’t had time to peruse the final changes or read through the manual.
