IndiaFoxtEcho F35 Lightning

There are three methods now:

  1. There’s a white switch on the front/bottom part of the flight stick. It switches NWS on, you can click on it.
  2. You can bind a key or key combination to toggle NWS. Look for this in the controls options: SET NOSE WHEEL STEERING TO LIMIT.
  3. You can just set NWS to automatic in the aircraft options page. MENU \ PMD/DR. This setting is saved so you won’t have to bother with it again.

Thanks I’ve got it sorted using the key bind option :+1::winking_face_with_tongue:

So, pretty new to this airplane.. why can I not break mach 1 at 40k feet? Just sits at .99 with full burner and the controls are very sensitive.

You may have to tweak the sensitivity curves on your setup to suit your needs with this one. I am new to it as well and quite like the way it handles. Certainly much better than their M346 at this point. As for the speed, that is very odd as you should be blasting past Mach 1 in full burner at 40k. Do you have external stores hanging?

You might need to break out of the trans-sonic envelope. Pitch down from 40k to about 30k while gaining speed, once you break out to super sonic speeds you will see the speed climbing faster, then you can climb back keeping Mach 1.2 or so to 40k and accelerate to your final speed.

Handles great at lower speeds… try it, climb to 41k or so. Go full burner straight and level. See if you can break Mach 1, and see how the pitch feel.

Exactly what Luis said. Level at 43k, you will feel stuck at M1. You will also feel the pitch down moment of the “Mach Tuck”. Enter a slight dive, accelerate through 1.15 and then you can level off and keep accelerating. I just went from 1.15 through 1.3 in a 500fpm climb. Pitch response was as expected.

Ok, but in reality the F35 could bust through mach 1 in level flight. It should not need a dive…

I would very much agree with you on that. It does seem odd that the model get’s stuck there but I do know that the simulation of the transonic region has been troublesome for developers. It seems like everything is a compromise so I guess that it is what it is for now.

For sure. No show stopper just odd. At much lower altitudes, almost sea level I can bust through mach 1 without issue. Probably a core sim issue. I will try with the F14 as well.

I tried it in the F-14 today. The Mach Tuck is much more pronounced but it accelerated right through M1 and kept going. I didn’t need to dive to accelerate.

How do I steer the nose wheel on the ground, especially on the tight space on the carrier deck?

You can enable nose wheel steering in three ways:

A question: I’m enjoying the IFE F-35, but one oddity: on both the ASR page and the TFLIR page, it is only showing a half screen of image. The top half of the mfd shows the radar or tflir image, while the area below the aircraft indicator is black. Any ideas?

Unfortunately, I do find all aircraft…no correction…most aircraft to be like “toys” in FS. The fighters out there unfortunately very often belongs to that category. The F-35 is well made, but I think - and correct me if if Im wrong - its not very near the real plane?

The issue here seems to be the performance of the displays, rather than anything do to with authenticity.

@oboehead - are you seeing only half the screen filled, or the top two-thirds? Sounds like the former. If it’s the latter, then that’s normal and you’d click on the downward arrow to go full-screen. If it’s the former, you might have a conflicting add-on - I’ve had similar things happen with heads-up displays as a result of conflicts. Try emptying out your community folder and see if the problem is still there. If it is, you might have a corrupted download (try redownloading and reinstalling). Or it’s a matter for IFE tech support - maybe try their Discord.

@AirPorkOne - the F-35 displays, cockpit and basic systems look pretty close to reality, based on what’s publicly avaliable (check some of the real-world videos on YouTube). Obviously no sim version of a fifth-generation fighter is going to be authentic, given how much is classified. I’m sure the flight model is conjecture, though it feels plausible (with some gotchas - it has problems going supersonic at altitude). And sim limitations mean the DAS system can’t be fully modeled - there’s just an approximate helmet-mounted display and you don’t get sensor fusion or the ability to look through the aircraft. The new soundset is fantastic. In all it’s a pretty satisfying experience, though clearly midrange, not the highest fidelty.

What are the exceptions to your “most” aircraft being like toys? Mine would be the IFE/Heatblur F-14, the IFE Tornado, the JustFlight Vulcan, the JustFlight Hawk (once they get the flight model fixed), the new IniBuilds T-33, the AzurPoly Fouga Magister, the Shrike F-86, anything by Flying Iron, the GotFriends Wildcat and the Blackbird/Milviz Corsair. Some (not all) of those have pretty comprehensive systems depth and realism. All of them in different ways manage to deliver a “you are there” experience. That’s my take - interested to hear if you have a similar list.

Should add that I’m have a very enjoyable time with the F-35, knowing what it is and what it isn’t.

Thank you for the help. It is the top half, and I agree, might be an add-on conflict. I’ll empty the community folder and see what happens. Thanks again.

Well, the community folder didn’t do the trick. I’ll try redownloading. Also, does IndiaFoxTecho have a discord? Anyone have the link? I can’t find one.

This is the URL for their Discord but I’m not sure if it’ll work as an invitation: Discord

They’re also active on Facebook - hope that gives you another option.

Can you do a screen shot so we can see what you mean?
