Initial Release: Grumman Goose G21A Redux II

Means that you’re trying to extract it with WinRar. Others have had the same issue, which is why I include a link to 7Zip.

Ensure to read the release notes.

Satur-jay Update? Well i missed Friday so that’ll have to do. What a day!

Today I took the first step towards learning to fly IRL and can I say that all the time we spend flying our favourite flight sim DEFINITELY come in handy. But you don’t want to hear about that you want to hear about the Goose. Well unfortunately nothing happened with the Goose due to family health and work getting in the way. Let’s see what next week brings.

We got the translations for our P40B to enter the MS Marketplace and had to send them back for corrections to the text as well as issues with their converting some stats incorrectly between US and Metric, so we now have to wait for those corrections and then finally the Tomahawk will launch on the in game Marketplace.

If you’re curious, today I was flying a FlySynthesis Texan Top Class 550, which has a Rotax 912ULS engine. The props are full carbon fiber and all three together with the main bracket weight 8.1lbs!

Wait…there is a merch store? Big radials logo t-shirts? Where?

Which Post # has the link to the current version of the Goose?
Thank you
TG

First one.

Thanks
I wasn’t sure if that one included the hotfixes.

Weekend Update:
Well these updates are really keeping me to task and I feel bad that I haven’t done more. Well Melbourne is in a snap lockdown for 7 days so no flying this weekend, which means I SHOULD have more time for this stuff right? Well when you try to save money by hosting your own mail server, git repo, etc and then the hard drives fail one after the other and despite having backups they don’t restore properly because you changed the physical setup of the server and so you have to rebuild the server that toook you a week last time to setup and you just had it running nice and everything working together (big breath) doesn’t leave a lot of time for anything else.

However there’s more than one member of the Big Radials team and they’ve been hard at work on some incredible 3D modelling and texturing for our next release as well as gathering more research data about it as well.

When we’re closer to release we’ll start sharing some screenshots and we hope that you’re going to be excited by them as we certainly are.

I did have a tiny bit of time to quickly add some correct needles to the Goose. Only a couple more of these and a tweak to the flight model to adjust for the latest update and that should wrap up the Goose. I know you’ve all waited a long time and I beg your indulgence a little longer

(Hmm looks like I need to clean the surrounding geo as well as we have some light poking through that shouldn’t be.)

Great news! Thanks!

For those who can send SimConnect events to MSFS (I do it with my Stream Deck but any other way will work), I’ve found the events to deploy/retract both floats together:
For floats down:
RETRACT_FLOAT_SWITCH_INC
For floats up:
RETRACT_FLOAT_SWITCH_DEC

On ground/water limitations still exists.
If you need to have one float up and one down, you still have to use upper panel switches.

Weekend Update:
Ever had a EUREKA! moment? That’s the moment when you’ve been struggling with concept or problem and then the solution comes to you like a bolt of lightning. Well I had that moment last night about 10mins before bed time.

One of the biggest reasons why I haven’t released the Goose yet was one final item on the HSI that needed to be modelled. The TO/FROM indicators. During my initial research I was adamant that it didn’t exist on the instrument I was modelling as NONE of the physical photos I could find showed one. Well ok some did but the vast majority didn’t. Then a good friend of mine reminded me how important that little arrow is for radio navigation and I was ALMOST resigned to do some trickery and just have an arrow “magically” appear and disappear on the instrument.

“What do we say to the God’s of no attention to detail?”
“NOT TODAY!”

Or to quote one of my other favourites: “Not today Zurg!”

Last minute googling found me the maintenance manual for the KS525A Instrument and it had exploded views for ALL of the internal operations <3. Now I can happy create this little piece of geometry, animate and code it and give the Goose to my testers for hopefully the last time before release!

Fingers crossed for next week folks!

Eureka! Looking forward to fly the Goose soon again.

Hey folks, just updated the download link in the OP for the updated Goose. Please read the note for changes and issues.

NICE! Downloading now. Gotta give it a spin later today! THANK YOU!

O yeah… will try later on…

Apologies if queries covered off further up.

  • Will you continue tweaking this Goose or at some point draw the line under it, no more tweaks?
  • The liveries out there, will they need to be amended for the just released update?

having fun with this aircraft . will there ever be a basic GNS added ? also how do i start it up? taxing is difficult engines keep quiting on me ,

Make sure you keep your RPM above 1000.

Anybody having luck with the AP?

I teally hope not. A modern gps would look really out of place on this one
