Did you read the posts linked above yours? There are plenty suggestions that would improve the situation.
The fact that default spawn is on the runway alone is the worst decision they made for multiplayer, and that’s the easiest thing to change for Asobo without ANY impact on the rest.
It was busy at Heathrow the other night. People were at least taking it reasonably seriously and forming an orderly queue to take off though.
I say give it a couple of weeks and all the Xboxers who have got it out of interest will move on and not really touch it again. Those that are left are the ones who will take things a bit more seriously. Its nice when its busy. It does make it all seem more alive.
Also note that there might be a difference for you when choosing “live players” vs “all players”.
Most people doing crazy things will probably be on “all players” since that’s the only way to control time/weather.
If you’re on “live players” you’ll only see other players that are on “live players”, this makes sure that this group of players has the same weather/time and thus use the same runways etc.
That might improve your experience, but you’ll see less players (and maybe more AI).
It’s not a fix if it affects the experience of other simmers in a bad way.
There are far more detailed suggestions in the linked threads that cater for various player styles.
And anybody suggesting that those players not following rules were mainly XBox players:
They’re not, same complaints are documented on the forums from months ago and they resulted in the above linked threads.
I did, and I didn’t spot anything that would stop me from joining the “serious” server, and proceed to annoy the people on it by being a nuisance. Apologies if I missed something pertinent, but I’ll have a re-read. One way would be to have some kind of Karma level, but that can be abused. Everyone has good Karma, and can join either the serious or casual server. You lose Karma by doing dumb stuff that annoys people, and people can vote on this, which of course opens it up to abuse. You get relegated to the casual server, but then have to earn Karma somehow. That can lead to the crab bucket, where people deliberately vote you down to keep you in casual.
I just don’t think a segregated community, in this manner, would ever work. On principle we shouldn’t segregate the community either, as that’s not a very welcoming thing to have.
The lobby system might work well enough, but I would say no to split servers aka casual, and serious.
Lobby might work if you want to actually fly with a group of friends, or even randos. But if you just want to roam the world, and see other players flying around, that small lobby of yours is insufficient. You’ll all split off, potentially flying in different directions, and never see another soul. For that purpose, the lobby would be unsuited.
I tend to agree here. We all started somewhere, and back in August we had all of the buzzing airports in A320’s etc. We also had your Dr Disrespects and other gamers getting in on the act.
They soon left.
But some won’t have, and some will have gone on to learn the cockpit, and the procedures, and may well be sterling VATSIM citizens.
I did notice, by their absence, the same Twitch channels showcasing the XBox version, as was done through August last year. It was more a whimper than a bang, release wise. Where were the influencers this time around?
If you saw a Spitfire, inverted, at 400ft, at EGLL sorry, my bad. Was “testing”
If you don’t own the Spitfire it could be shown as another aircraft. Could explain why you’re seeing tube liners doing acrobatics?
That statement was not targeting you, sorry. It’s that general tone in many posts discarding the maybe other playing style from “new simmers” that want to try out what the sim does. Such players are pretty common using PC as well.
You can play the sim for a gamepass subscription of 1€/month all the time. It’s not new for the XBox.
I would imagine they would do the usual “keep relevant” Xbox streams, and direct you to their existing stock of MSFS PC tutorials, which are about pilotage and still relevant for Xbox pilots who want to learn more.
My guess, probably wildly incorrect
ADDITION: I wholeheartedly agree with you, it was a bit of a whimper this time around.
Ok so I think ‘one month passes’ for silly $ is going to have to be something that Asobo look into, especially if it is impacting player immersion (whether dedicated PC user or Xbox user) as noone taking the game serisoly wants their immersion ruined.
Without stereotyping, PC users do not get to dip their toe in the water for £1 they have to want it at a £60 entry fee. If anyone on Xbox can come in take a look for £1 and if all they want is a fast play arcade game then they will be more likely to act as the OP has described, again this would be equally true if the same offer was made via steam for PC users.
I get that the Xbox Community has not been welcomed with open arms by the PC community, there are legitimate concerns in the mix that need to be addressed by Asobo/MS. This does not make all PC users that raise legitimate, demonstrateable concerns (rather than some of the hyperbole that does exist) ‘Xbox haters’.
Similarly, if eveytime a PC user raises a legit issue that, yes, may point at Xbox users then just as the ‘PC hyperbole’ is not fair, nor is it fair of Xbox users to point fingers and say ‘its not us gov your just prejudiced against Xbox users’.
Both user groups have to come together and work together to make this a single user community for pilots that want to enjoy high fidelity flight simulation.
For reference: I am not an Xbox Community hater as I have tried to make clear in the post below, but I think Asobo/MS does need to ensure MSFS is a bastion for high fidelity flight simulation for all users.
switch multiplayer off and keep it there.
you also get faster loading times.
hopefully, after all simmers-on-a-couch will get fed without seeing explosions or airplanes losing wings or buildings catching fire they will give up and get back to fortnite, call of duty of whatever console people do.
Exactly. And the issues discussed here and in many other threads have no direct relation to PC vs XBox (even the graphics issues).
I think that Asobo doesn’t really intend to cater for realism using Multiplayer at this stage.
It’s rather intended for group flights etc. And all the suggestions are trying to improve the situatuon for realism, sure.
As long as there are no measures in the base sim to allow for better realism with multiplayer, the way to go is to turn it off and optionally use the online networks that enforce player behavior.
I just had a quick look at my Twitch recommended feed, and there is a single MSFS channel there, and they are streaming XP11.
But I digress. The situation will improve as people move on, as it has done in the past. The major hubs are always busy after an update, especially a world update, so I fully expect the August WU to be horrible over Germany for the first week.
stop being forumdads and carebears.
there will not be a sort of Benetton advertising with all happy together, I’ve seen it previously in other games.
it won’t work.
the best option, and ASAP, is to separate servers for console-on-a-couch and pc.
otherwise, like written above, stick to other groups or servers who enforce rules.
