Jack of All Planes - Achievement

Thank you and everyone else for all your insight on this “achievement”.

Yesterday, I finally completed Jack of all Planes. I was stuck at 95% for a long time as well, but I didn’t actually start persuing any achievements until about 3 weeks ago (After the apparent fix of the C172 G1000 not counting).

  • Thank you for pointing out that 300 miles translates into the 260 nautical miles in the World Planner. This saved me a heck of a lot of time on my second and third attempts on all the planes.
  • Thank you for identifying that you can have the AI co-pilot control both the plane and the radio. The AI stll crashed me on approach a few times, so I now always take control for landing. Being able to use the AI Co-Pilot for the ICON A5 and other non-autopilot aircraft is a HUGE benefit. The AI will follow the flight plan waypoints laterally. It has difficulty with the vertical.
  • Thank you in a BIG way in identifying that closing the checklist UI window changes Assistance Settings from “True to Life” to “Custom”, thus negating the current any further attempts to progress the achievment until you change it back to True to Life. I left all UI windows opened if they poped up, and just minimized them. A small visual price to pay in order not to waste 3 hours.
  • Thank you for pointing out that ALL mods must be removed. I initially only removed the 3rd party liveries. On my third attempt I removed everything, which included all the Working Title mods, DA62, DA40NG, C208B, A32nx and Salty mods. (Using the AI co-pilot in lieu helped a lot)
  • I could still run the AFC Bridge for my Bravo Throttle. It was the only file in my community folder.

The Jack of all Planes achievement was a good catalyst in getting me to try all of the default planes. I enjoyed getting to know each plane. I would’ve otherwise just stuck to the few airframes that I know.

Again, I thank all of you that posted your tips on completing this achievement.
