Arrow versus Warrior
Warrior is lower performance, has fixed gear and fixed propellor. Similar to the c172 in many respects.
A nice simple easy to fly aircraft with no gear to forget to drop when landing or prop to look after. Easy to fly and great for circuits and relaxing scenic flights, not suited to overly long trips and struggles in high mountain country.
Arrow III versus Turbo Arrow III
All the Arrows are “complex” aircraft with retractable gear and a CSU adjustable prop and the various Arrows have close to identical performance at sea level.
The Turbo Arrow performs better than the standard Arrow above 10,000 feet, climbs faster at altitude, and can reach higher final altitudes giving eventually a higher TAS.
Hence the Turbo is better in mountains and for longer trips.
BUT, below 10,000 feet, it is really easy to overboost and break your engine in the Turbo Arrow (no wastegate) so you need to watch your manifold pressure like a hawk in the Turbo.
TLDR - below 10,000 feet use the Warrior II or the Standard Arrow III as you can pretty much firewall the throttle without instantly breaking things, but above 10,000 you are better off in the Turbo Arrow III/IV.

Very helpful comments. Thank you for this!
Available now Xbox marketplace!
Am in it’s bigger cousin and goin for a rip crosscountry
Dumb question, at work in uk so have got the plain yet. Have been looking at the manual on JF store - will be getting on XboxX.
Anyone able to expand on the fuel flow gage for that shows the 100% 75 % bands on it ? Haw are they calibrated and how would it relate to MP/leaning/alt etc
Sorry ment on the arrows
OK - I see nothing resembling a "fuel flow gauge calibrated in percent " in my JF Warrior II.
There are two fuel gauges and a fuel pressure gauge in the bottom centre and an EGT top left. Nothing remotely related to fuel flow at all. Where are you getting this information ?
I know there are fuel flow gauges in the Arrows, but I don’t think they are in the Warrior.
It is actually surprising with a fixed prop that Piper even bothered with an EGT .

Right? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one.
I usually lean based on the engine rpm/sound.
This is the Warrior thread, not the Arrow thread.
The Warrior does not have a Manifold Pressure gauge. It’s a fixed prop plane.
Be that as it may, the percent has to do with %Power when using the graphs in the POH.
Again, that’s for the Arrows, not the Warrior. The Warrior has no such gauge. Just the RPM.
They still speak in terms of %Power in the Warrior POH, but there’s no fuel flow or Manifold Pressure gauge to use in the Warrior.

Yeah pretty much that is definitely an Arrow not a Warrior. The Warrior is pretty basic, great for stress free circuits and checking out the scenery but nothing complex about it. A simple basic no frills stress free GA aircraft ideal as a basic trainer or for weekend short trips.
In the Arrow, the “75%” basically is saying “this is the fuel flow to expect in cruise at 75% power if you are leaned correctly” .

I finally flew the updated Warrior last night. Wow. This is a very impressive module. The way it handles is really superb. What a fabulous machine to hand fly. Just Flight really nailed it with this one.

After latest update, the knobs and buttons are suddenly not usable from time to time. this was on the non-turbo version, but I think there was something similar with them to. You hear the noice of alternig that specific knob/button, but the button is not moving. Its like you cant control them any longer (using the mouse).
Would like to get one of the Pipers, and thinking about purchasing the Warrior, is this a good aircraft for slow flying and just nice scenic touring?
I know the Milviz 310 is a faster aircraft, but how does it compare with realism details and flight model, the piper is quite pricey, so just want to be sure it’s worth it.
Probably one of the best for that.

In my opinion, you would be hard pressed to find a better aircraft for hand flying and slow touring. The flight model on the Warrior is superb and it makes you feel like you are flying in the real thing. It is just a solid module and everything works and feels and sounds correct. If you want to step into the sim and say “Ok, today I am going to take my personal aircraft and just go enjoy flying around” it is really hard to beat. The flight model feels correct throughout the full range of speed as well. It feels right from takeoff to touchdown. The state saving gives it a personal feel. Like all Just Flight products, it is on the high end of pricing but you definitely get what you pay for with this one. If the price holds you back, and I completely understand that point of view, the other suggestion would be the Got Friends Optica.
