This is a whimsical question I thought of looking through my hanger:
Everybody talks about the fastest and fanciest aircraft - the fighter jets, SR71, DarkStar, (etc). You know what I mean - the kind of aircraft that leaves your face plastered on the back of the aircraft’s canopy when you punch out the throttle.
So, I got thinking. . .
What’s the slowest fixed-wing aircraft available for FS2020?
Qualifications:
- “Slowest” means the slowest rated maximum speed.
- Fixed wing aircraft only - no helicopters, parasails, etc.
- Must be able to fly under its own power, (no gliders or unpowered aircraft.)
- Both payware and freeware are OK but they must actually exist in the marketplace somewhere. (i.e. No specialized aircraft invented just for this.)
- If you have the kind of skill to dummy up a realistic aircraft on a whim, you’ve got my curiosity riz!
- Assume VFR meteorological conditions at sea-level, standard temperature and pressure, dead calm winds, clear and unlimited visibility - in other words, the kind of weather fledgling pilots pray for.

Both native, (available in the content manager), and 3rd party aircraft are eligible.
Extra points:
Even if it doesn’t have the slowest maximum speed, what fixed-wing aircraft can fly stably at the slowest speed?
If youre including 3rd party aircraft, then it might be the 1909 Bleriot XI from Wing42, with a 40 knot maximum speed with the Anzani 25 hp motor.

Second for the Bleriot XI – it’s slow as an ultralight but heavy enough to want to fall out of the sky and kill you at any second

Good choice, though I’d prefer something that’s not trying to kill me if I blink twice. . .

Top Rudder Solo is pretty slow, but probably not as slow as the ones mentioned.

The J3 Cub, a fantastic aircraft, is unfortunately subject to bird strikes from the rear quadrant.

Is the Bleriot slower than the Wright Flyer?
It’s gonna be a pretty close race either way.
The 3hp English Electric Wren (by Rara Avis) could make it an exciting 3-way battle for the last step of the podium.
The 103 Solo is a positive rocket ship compared to those 3 though!
Would a hot air balloon count? I mean it IS powered by its own if you count upwards but it is obviously dependant on weather. On a calm day that would be slowest at covering any distance I think!
The J3 can do 70+! That’s a different league entirely
The Kamov Ka-10M helicopter is something like 55kts.
You made it to two blinks?!? I’m impressed.
The Antonov AN-2 apparently has no published stall speed and can be flown in a controlled manner, without descending, at 35 MPH (56Km/h). It’s been a lot of years since I saw one at an airshow. IIRC, at that time, the pilot was able to get the plane either on or off the ground, with a strong headwind, at 26 MPH (42 KM/H).

There are a lot of aircraft that can FLY slow (not stall), but this is specifically about their TOP speed according to OP’s rules:
Pedantic Mode — disabled
Soz!

If you want to use a “real” plane and not the birdcages already suggested, the CAS J3 is very good.
But my favorite for this kind of use is the Antonov An2.
It can fly really slow in standard configuration.
And with a light pilot, very little fuel and no cargo, it’s capable of hovering and even moving backwards if there’s a headwind.
“It’s a game of skills” like it was written on pinballs when I was a kid.

My mistake. I misread the first requirement.
Looking at the last line in his post, I still believe the AN2 would qualify.
Nor did Baracus
He is in his own little world tonight
In my defence, it’s a push to call the Kamov a helicopter lol
More like some spare tubing someone had laying around in the workshop, loosely welded together with a couple of blades attached to a lawnmower engine wrangled into it and somehow persuaded to rotate opposite directions to each other. Fact it could take off vertically is neither here nor there!
