Live Traffic with working Liveries!

What I have suggested works for the moving live traffic as well as parked! It will put the correct livery on arrivals and departures, assuming you have the liveries in your community folder, the livery aircraft.cfg file is correctly set up and the 3 letter airline code is correct within that file.

well it doesn’t seem to work for me. I have everything setup correctly and I am using the files from this post so that should be setup already unless I am missing something. Thank you anyway and I guess I will just have to wait close to forever for the release of an ai program. It’s going to be a long winter that’s for sure.

Odd. I have been watching liveried planes coming and going at EGCC all day. Now at EGLL watching BA planes arriving.

Forget the files from this post, they are awful and dont work well at all and look terrible. If you follow these instructions you should be able to get live traffic liveries.

  1. Delete all the all ivao liveries and uninstall the altitude package.
  2. Go into the following folder ..\OneStore\Asobo-aircraft-generic-airliner-twinengines\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_Generic_Airliner_TwinEngines and open aircraft.cfg
  3. In the GENERAL section change icao_generic = 1 to icao_generic = 0
  4. Save and close the file.
Go into OneStore\Asobo-aircraft-a320-neo\SimObjects\AirPlanes\Asobo_A320_NEO and open aircraft.cfg.
  5. In the GENERAL section change add the line icao_generic = 1 then save and close the file.
  6. In the community folder make sure you have the A320neo mega livery pack installed.
  7. Start the sim. In the UI General menu click TRAFFIC and set the USE GENERIC PLANE MODELS (AI TRAFFIC) to On. Save the change and go back to the main menu and set up a flight.
  8. Use the Showcase camera mode at somehere busy like EGLL and watch the traffic coming and going.

What you should see is liveries on any flight coming or going that has a livery installed in your community folder with an ai model as well as a main model folder, a properly set up aicraft.cfg file that includes two [FLIGHTSIM] entries numbered 0 and 1 with 0 set for user select and no AI, 1 set for no user select and AI and the correct texture and model entries at the beginning of each section along with the correct 3 letter icao_airline = ??? code in each of them.

This works, if it doesnt something is not set up correctly.

I have 6 flights at EGLL right now, AirFrance, Emirates, Qatar, and 3 British Airways flights, all with the correct liveries, not the correct planes cause we dont have all the models variants yet to do that so its just A320’s, but they look a lot better than nothing.

A HA, there’s the rub! I used to have all the megapack liveries installed and I used your guide in another thread and was able to see “real” liveries on moving aircraft. But they were all A320’s even though the megapack has a 747, and 787 but all that ever showed up was those darn A320’s. I just uninstalled my megapack liveries because I found this thread.

I wanted to see more models being used for live traffic and according to this post it was possible and there are even pictures and posts from people showing a 767 and 747 moving with live traffic. I followed all instructions to the letter and even made changes when someone discovered something new. I read the whole post and did everything right but still only see default models. I was enticed by seeing the models being used but it did not work out for me. I have been following all the ai traffic programs under development and know we will have to wait forever to get them so I thought this would be a good placeholder and anything is better than default.

So I guess either I have all the real world liveries for just one model or many models that just are eyecandy and don’t move. Not sure what is the best route for me. Thank you so much for trying to help me figure this out. I am getting frustrated with this whole game and this is the cherry on top.

Thank you so much @anon69344611.

Finally I have a post with enough details to help a non technically inclined girl like me to enable this.

Appreciate this so much!

Well ain’t that some ■■■■! I just tried this and it worked as you said. There may be an overflow of A320s everywhere now, but at least it’s not those generic planes with the puke-inspired liveries any more.

Thanks!

UsableOwl6: That’s the limitation at the moment, we only have two models we can use for AI in the sim. The mod I use does result in a lot of A320’s but for just flying and landing at airports they are better than the generic Asobo non descript liveries on the twin engine model in my opinion.

AthenaGrey1: No problem. Glad it works for you. I found a few liveries that did not work but there are lots of A320 liveries on flightsim.to you can try.

Chaezaa Not sure Asobo ever intended for the 787 to work as AI. I dont know if that was deliberate or just an oversight. AI Live Traffic in the sim is a very patchy affair at the moment which hopefully FSLTL will remedy soon with more models.

Is there somewhere a voting thread for working AI/Live traffic liveries from MS/Asobo themselves? I understand, MSFS has to be rushed for whatever reason, and I also understand, airlines have been in trouble because of pandemia. However, as MS stated early on

“1. We are making Microsoft Flight Simulator. Emphasis on the word SIMULATOR”.

While I’ve often defended MSFS against accusions being an Arcade Game, the stock AI/Live traffic liveries certainly don’t fall into the simulator category.

I feel embarrassed for asking but what was the wtc before “J”? This did not work for me and I would like to change it back. I don’t think I did it right anyway. Thank you

320Neo and twin engine generic jet is M, 747 and quad engine generic jet is H

Thank you very much. I decided to keep my ivao system and add the megapack using your instructions. It will melt my computer but I will have the best of both worlds. More moving traffic from the megapack and eye candy from ivao. I will gladly trade it all in for one program that will accomplish this. Thanks again.

Where is megapack?

This is what happens during “bring your kid to work day.”

Flightsim.to is what I always use.

You need to join the Project Megapack discord server to get the download link.

Okay. I had wrong mega pack then.

Maybe just an older one. Early on, you could get the megapack there, but they’ve since moved to a single location for distribution so they can handle upgrades more easily. There is even a livery manager available and the site now includes aircraft as well.

At least that will do for now, until we get models in the sim. thank you very much. now the airports have real liveries now!! :grinning:

Hey so does this mean I have to get IVAO and it’s client and then put that other download into my community folder? I’m kind of confused. Sorry!

The mod which this thread is originally about doesn’t work any more. Read this post about a dozen or so up from here. It has instructions that will provide a stopgap solution to adding some real world airline liveries to the sim until either one of the other mod projects is done, or whenever Asobo manage to get it done as they said they would.
