Live Traffic with working Liveries!

Ok thanks!

You were lucky! From the tests I did, the problem is that most of the incoming flights are encoded as GEN and the SIM takes a random Generic aircraft which may be the right one but often wrong one.

Update! I followed everything to the t,and it seems the aircraft parked at the stands made a difference. I did go to the Asobo generic twinjet and a320 files and adjusted and added the aircraft configs as you said, put the megapack in, enabled generic in the traffic settings for live. And the generic jets are are still showing as live traffic. I don’t understand… what do you think that might be the cause? Help please, thanks!!

When you say the generic jets are still showing, do you mean that the label says GEN (that is correct by the way) or that the sim is not showing the A320 jet model but is still showing the generic twin jet instead?

It’s not showing the 320 but the generic twin jets as the live traffic. The static a320s are ok

Check the Asobo twin jet aircraft.cfg file again, that model should not show in the sim with the following line in the GENERAL section: icao_generic = 0

By definition that excludes the jet from being used as the generic twin jet airliner.

Make sure you check the file with the sim not running and if necessary copy and paste the line above into the file overwriting the line that is in there in case there is an error in the line. Dont forget to save the cfg file after making changes.

Also double check the A320 aircraft.cfg file and make sure that definitely says: icao_generic = 1 in its GENERAL section.

Lastly make sure you definitely have the generic option switched on in the sims traffic menu.

I cannot think of any other pointers I am afraid.

Well I tried again exactly as you said, even pasting the lines in my config and went to several airports, no hope. Sigh.. I guess its not working for me. The twin planes still show up and no movements… thanks a lot for helping me out and I guess the best solution will be to wait until the 3rd party traffic gets done. At least for now there is live ai, plenty of it with the right callsigns, sky still looks busy in the air and on the ground, eh!!

Besides, there is no 737, or embraers yet , the sim is still fresh. Everything will come in time. Back to xplane for me!

Sorry it didn’t work for you, that is really strange.

I had install this Live traffic livery from Nexus mods, but the mod is no longer there for some reason. That mod was good in adding those liveries to the live traffic. But I have one big problem. The number of live traffic that was spawned suddenly drops. In airspace or airports with airlines that the livery doesn’t cover, they don’t spawn at all. And I also can’t see any multiplayer flying about. But when I’m flying around europe, where the live traffic livery mod has a lot of collection, they work well.

It’s as if the mod only spawn the aircraft with the liveries, and if the live traffic doesn’t have a corresponding livery in that mod, it never spawns at all. Because as soon as I remove that mod, all my live traffic suddenly came back.

I would have thought it shouldn’t affect any live traffic spawn at all. If the Live Traffic ICAO code has a corresponding livery, it should spawn with the livery from the mod. If the Live Traffic ICAO code doesn’t have a corresponding livery, it should still spawn but with the common generic livery. I can live with that. But I can’t live with non-traffic at all.

Also, does anyone know where I can get the Live Traffic with working liveries mod from this discussion?

The Nexusmods AI solution uses the default Asobo twin generic model if I remember correctly. I am pretty sure its the same mod that I was using for a while. I didn’t find that it reduced the amount of live traffic, it just used one of the four liveries for an appropriate flight or defaulted to one of the generic liveries for others.

The nexus mod only has four liveries anyway so its not very useful. If I were you I would go back to the original setup using the Asobo generic twin and four engine jet models for live traffic then try with A320 mod with the mega liveries pack and see how that goes. I know it works with traffic it doesnt have liveries for, it just defaults to one of the three ai traffic liveries instead.

No.. That’s a different mod. I know that mod you mentioned only adds 4 liveries. Because I used that the first time. And this mod is still available on Nexus.

But then there’s another AI traffic livery mod that also uses the Asobo twin generic model. But in there, there’s about 20-30 different airline liveries. There was Singapore, SAS, Swiss, the A380 was given Qantas, Emirates, etc. This mod was removed from Nexus at some point and I couldn’t find it anymore anywhere.

From what I understand, and correct me if I’m wrong. Asobo Twin or Quad generic model are the ones that can be used for a moving traffic. the A320, 787, or 747 models are only used for Parking aircraft at the gates. As soon as a live traffic is spawned, the sim uses the Twin or Quad generic model. So if you have liveries that apply to those models, then the traffic will use that model.

I’m not too worried about the A320, 787, or the 747 models that’s parked on the gate. I don’t like using megapack because there’s too much liveries that I don’t need, and they’re varies in quality and detail. It’s a great for those who wants easy install and easy access to the most common liveries out there. But the megapack doesn’t cut it to my standards. I only allow 8K or 4K liveries in my collection, and I must have each of them vetted by me in terms of having the correct callsign, the correct model, flight number, tail number format, and I have to make a standardised thumbnail with a soft background and clear emphasis of the airline’s logo. I don’t want to use the thumbnail generator of the aircraft model looking from the front. That doesn’t tell me anything about how the livery looks like from that angle.

And definitely making sure it has the AI model and the aircraft.cfg has a set the traffic use to true. But even so, I know that these traffic liveries only apply to the ones in parking. Not the one that’s moving about.

I have never seen that larger mod unfortunately, it sounds quite good. Without seeing how its arranged though its hard to say but at a guess I would suggest that perhaps the aircraft.cfg file in that mods models don’t have enough spare [FLTSIM.?] entries to properly cater for the flights for which you dont have liveries. Normally there are at least 3 or four without any sort of ICAO code to allow for non liveried flights.

I still have it backed up before it disappears from nexus.. Do you think you can have a look if I post it here?

I dont think it would be a good idea to post a cfg file on a public forum, not even sure about the legality of doing that. You could private message me perhaps? I wonder if they took the mod down because it no longer works?

I won’t post a CFG file, but I’ll PM you the full Zip file that’s exactly the same as the one I got from the source. It’s about 166 MB, with full model files and Liveries. I counted 43 Twin engines airline liveries, and 2 quad engine airline liveries, with some GA files with it too.

You can try but it would be quite unusual for a forum to allow such a large file update and download, even privately.

Lol, I’m not gonna post an actual file here. I’ll send you a GDrive link. I know my way around these things.

Good stuff. Got the file. Will communicate on the PM since the forum is starting to complain about the issue with just two of us having a conversation.

If you haven’t already, you’re going to run into more and more issues with Ai given the “pre-mature” state it is currently in.

  1. No matter how many correct configs/models/liveries you have, it appears that the game has a limit on how many varieties it will display (both static and with live).
  2. Given the limitations of #1, even if you have the correct setup, if the plane hasn’t already spawned (as static), it will not likely be utilized for a real-time aircraft.
  3. It’s clear that Ai have real performance issues with things like taxi, takeoff and landing speeds, none of which appears to be fixable without updates to the SDK
  4. Unless you use native models (which there aren’t really any), importing FSX models will produce lots of issues with lighting (blocks of lights infront and below) which is also an issue that can’t easily be fixed
  5. I have found many, many issues with airports and pathing errors resulting in many stuck Ai even at “handcrafted” airports - such as this - KATL Pathing Issues Stops Ai from Taking off (and getting stuck on taxiway)

While it’s fun to tinker, just don’t have high expectations yet!
