Live Weather Does Not Match

It’s broken since pre alpha.

Even worse -.-

Live weatehr is sooo broken..i.was in MEMMINGEN airport where the METAR was FEW033 and the live weather in the Sim was showing an overcast layer ahahah …its actually pretty sad…

Good summary, didn’t even know about 2.!

As @TheMacallan1605 writes, number 1. is not so clear. In Europe, it was perfect every time I checked. In USA, sometimes it seemed like a big delay (or a forecast even - could be a local time - UTC conversion error or the other way around), but then again it was fine at different times.

Well Ive been having issues with the time in the US always being 1 hour ahead.
When setting up a flight this morning I selected Live weather. When going back into the editor,
I noticed the place to change the time in the Flight Planner, so I rolled it to the correct time, then noticed my weather was wrong (not live) so I selected Live Weather again, when back and now the time is off by an hour. lol

the clouds can’t be off an inch if they should be there (live weather) and aren’t
the stated feature isn’t reliably performing, for instance

  • flew EGLL to OMAA, 10-100kt winds aloft, plenty of clouds
  • flew KDEN to OMDB - 225/03 in North America

What you describe appears to be related to a weather cache issue. The cache continues holding the data and isn’t refreshed often enough for reliable weather.

Stop feeding the troll.

But yes, it’s still broken, especially (but not limited to) higher-elevation airports.

Well I think I sort of figured out the time thing. Steam is also an hour ahead as well. So Im guessing that its related to that.

For me the offset is usually between -40 and +25 minutes. One exact hour I could easily explain…

Whatever I did last night seems to of fixed it this morning, started a live flight 1st one time right weather right. Second one however the time was right but the cloudy skies disappeared and it was a nice clear day. In just an hour.,

I was looking specifically for this thread. I unloaded because I wanted to tweak my Throttle sensitivity but I wanted to make some observations about the first flight only weather. Which is very real. I did notice, even after trying to server hop and throwing the Live Weather button a couple times airports on the map all showed null wind, more striking was the observation that I got no current weather after selecting my departure airport only the WiFi akin beacon mark. (Also for collectiveness I’m going to link this to the major weather thread.) Live Weather Does Not Match

Is it just me or did the lightning go from bad to worse in 1.9.5.0?!

For me, I can rarely get live weather to inject the correct weather, and ATIS in sim is definitely not correct - especially when I try to use Live Weather feature (REX WxForce injects, but ATIS does not correspond to injected weather, either). I mean - “Fewclouds 900 feetFewclouds 1400 feetFewclouds 22000 feet”, when injected weather displays overcast skies base at 4200 feet after taking off and climbing. All the time the clouds are FewXXXFewXXXFewXXX, though the base altitudes change, even if clear skies are showing.
There has been absolutely no improvement with any of the patches issued to date for me. My location is in the southeast USA using USA East server (almost always best for speed).

I just set my flight from Dublin. Clouds but no rain! ANd I live in Dublin and it is raining.
Last night I did a flight around Bologna in Italy and the webcams around the city were showing pretty heavy rain… No rain at all in the sim…
Lots of thunders even in almost clear sky…
The live weather is not matching the metar reports of airports. I tried one flight in Siberia region too… the weather map was reporting snow. Well, the sky was pretty clear!
I have no idea why they are still struggling to find a solution to this problem. It should have a very super high priority, since flying is almost all about the weather and if they have a partnership with VATSIM, I have no idea how the controllers and pilots can deal with this discrepancy in the weather depiction.
I hope they will solve this ASAP cause I want to start flying on VATSIM again without having problems with differences in the weather.

In my opinion, not too many people here think like us. Yes, there should be an uproar about this very specific issue but too many users expect too little from the term “Live Weather”–like good looking clouds and changing conditions while flying from A to B.

You raised all the important points: Flying is almost all about weather and VATSIM simply doesn’t work without close-enough live conditions. And they featured both in their partnership series.

Another aspect of flying is its preparation, btw. How can I do proper fuel planning, alternate planning, etc. without a reliable (live) weather model…?

The wind fix was a huge improvement to the weather system.

Unfortunatly I still get the “NO WIND DATA” display sometimes in the Glass Screen during flight.
Little Navmap validates this when connected to MSFS and also displays “No Wind”.

Possibly related. When I’ve been playing with building presets with no wind, e.g. 0 knots, I’ve also seen the “No wind data” message.

Who else here is wondering why this thread is not listed in today’s Feedback Snapshot…?

I though this was fixed?? Just loaded the sim to find the same old weather bug! 3kts and no clouds? WTF Asobo?
