I’ve spent a few hours with it and other than the things I already mentioned, I do really like it. My kind of plane for sure. Cockpit audio seems a tad quiet to me, but I’m not sure if it was a sim issue at the time. I will most definitely get plenty of time in this aircraft. What can I say, I’m a fan of basic.
I found it on the right of the pilot seat
Of course thst tskes much more time and effort to achieve properly. I for one am much happier with a simple but very well executed ‘plane than an incomplete and buggy aircraft with complex systems.., most of the default aircraft in MSFS2024 are unfinished ideas.
It really shouldn’t be a surprise - look at the amount of time it takes the dedicated teams at JF or PMDG or any of the other great third party developers, to give us one good aircrsft. There is no shortcut to that and most likely MS budget for FF and LL aircraft ( or the stock ones in MSFS2024) doesn’t allow for a proper, full development cycle.
More likely MS assume we’ll just discard most of these stock aircraft after a few hours and just move onto something else.. to them, it’s only a game after all.
Thank you. Unfortunately, the parking brake does not stay engaged.
FYI, the parking brake issue has been reported in the Bug Reporting Hub
Thank you!
For MSFS 2020 you still have to pay for this aircraft even you already own FS2024?
I think it is one of the 4 free aircraft promised to MSFS 2024 users as compensation for the launch issues….
If you pay for it you have it both sims.
Or you can have it for free in 2024.
That is the deal.
Some confusion about 2024/2020 may come from here
Bug topic here:
In career mode (I found a freelance “first flight” mission using the CAP-4), pilot is not seating correctly and the pilot head appears above the wing using external view
It appears that MSFS2024 has issue with seating the pilot correctly in small plane
I assume the CAP-4 should be able to accomodate a pilot and a passenger in real life (like a Piper J3)
This aircraft is very enjoyable - can’t wait for it to be added to career mode and I will use it a lot.
I’ve now have over seven hours on the Hobbs meter in this aircraft. Overall, I think this is a great little aircraft for sightseeing flights, world photography and world exploration.
It is easy to handle and with few cockpit instruments is a good choice for new pilots who want a change from training in the Cessna 172 but find the airliners a bit too complex to fly for their limited piloting experience to-date.
It has a nice selection of basic liveries. The interior and exterior graphics are good. Sounds seem OK, but without any real-life reference to go on, judging sounds is very much a subjective choice.
There are a few bugs that I’ve reported in the Bug Reporting Hub which hopefully can be fixed in a future update - particularly the “Transponder and COM Radio Incorrectly Illuminated at Night” issue. None of them have prevented me from enjoying my flights.
Overall, I rated this a 9.
Is having the battery and avionics switches all the way in the back behind the rear seat accurate to the real thing? That is some of the most bonkers and impractical aircraft designs I’ve ever seen. ![]()
Yes, I thought that odd too - same with the magneto switches. I’m guessing that the battery is located behind the rear seat, so that’s why the switches are there.
Really enjoying this little plane. It’s basic, and you’re not going to get anywhere fast. But for sightseeing and enjoying the scenery, it’s spot on.
Same issues as already reported with parking brake and radio illumination too bright at night.
Otherwise, I’ll be flying it a lot.
Pic of a little tour over the Scottish highlands. XboxX
That’s most likely because the airplane was never intended to have an electrical system.
The CAP-4 was an unlicensed copy of the Taylor Cub (which was the precursor to the Piper Cub), and the Taylor Cub was designed without an electrical system and has to be flown solo from the rear seat, so putting the switches there makes sense.
Shouldent the make good aircraft´s also be awaliable in 2020 for owners of MSFS2020 for free? That was at least my understanding from the latest live stream? They are available in the MSFS2020 store but not free?
