We will open the polls shortly!

Should I be able to see this aircraft in the MP?

Filter by ‘Aircraft’ and arrange by ‘New’ and you will.

It doesn’t have a product description. Just the real thing gets described.

First impressions quite nice.

but it does look like a child flying it from the external view
maybe a scaling issue as his head is nowhere near the headrest?

Cannot open the cockpit in flight which is a shame!

A bit more engine noise in the cockpit would be nice to.

I can’t open the cockpit at all. Even on the runway, the handle highlights but I can’t slide it.

Weird thing is, the first time I flew it I had a properly scaled Aussie WW2 pilot. After that, it’s a four-foot-five modern pilot.

Other than those things, it’s a beauty, and on a very quick lunch break test flight it feels like the handling and performance is right on.

Moderators, is there a manual available for this? I’m guessing there’s a way to toggle the pilot between whatever iniBuilds did to the poor stock pilot and the great WW2 pilot I saw once.

You have to unlock this first on the left side, just at the bottom of the handle. Then use the right handle to open for some reason, not the left.

But unfortunately, the terrible decision was made to have the pilot forced out of the plane if you open the canopy. So there is no taxiing with the canopy open to be had, or even just listening to the runup with it open

Well thats odd
..I’ve just watched a review video
.which clearly shows a period pilot of the correct size and also able to open the canopy during flight!
So maybe two of my issues are not issues after all
more investigation needed!

Edit
.nope, still cant get the ‘correct’ pilot to show and unable to open the cannopy without wanting it to eject me!

.any ideas?

OK
found the issue!

I needed to go into my library, disable the ‘CAC Boomerang and then enable the ‘CAC Boomerang 2020’ (unverified!) variant!
I now get the correct pilot and can open the cockpit without getting out!

Must a be a bug somewhere just affecting the 2024 version!

I came here to report the same thing! Guessing iniBuilds “enhanced” the Boomerang by adding the FS2024 custom pilot. I don’t think it’s a bug (other than the size) but rather it’s by (poor) design.

Swapping back to the original not only gives you back the good-looking pilot, but also lets you fly with the canopy open! The FS2020 version seems to work just fine in 2024, at least on a quick test flight.

What I don’t understand is why I had the period pilot the very first time I flew the 2024 version. I tried zeroing out the pilot weight, looking for something in the cockpit to click, etc, to get him back and no dice. So reverting to the 2020 plane in 2024 was the solution.

But you would loose the 2024 features, or are there none?

Only the walkround bits I guess (chocks can be removed with a switch in the cockpit).

.but I never really use the 24 features anyway.

But there might be other features like flight model?

Quite possibly, and the 24 version does fly nicely (as does the 20 version)
.you just wont be able to open the cockpit or see the ‘default’ period pilot.
Take your choice really!

Pilot scale/position is wrong.

Include a WW2 pilot that works.

Open canopy exits the aircraft. Not acceptable.

Very loud in the cockpit. Sounds like a static thunder effect.

Uncontrolable roll to right after crosswind take off. Very odd.

5/10 score for me. Sort the above and make it a six.

The weathering looks really odd. I guess they were trying to go for a period effect but it doesn’t look great to me, like it’s been splashed all over with muddy water. If they were going to for a modern warbird look, they certainly didn’t achieve that either. It really misses the mark in my opinion.

A polls in the OP are now open for voting.

Terrible. Waste of money. Like mentioned above, another disappointment.

My observations are this:

The 2024 one says it’s done by Inibuilds but I’m guessing they only did a little bit of work on this thing since the 2020 one says Aeroplane Heaven on it.

On both the external view it looks like someone took a sander to the surface of the plane. I think the repainters out there can solve that issue.

To me there are more glaring issues than that. I know the vertical speed indicator is dead wrong. In the 2024 one it shows a 700fpm descent while stationary on the ground. In flight I can be in a climb and it still indicate a dive or level. The 2020 is better but still off by 200 feet.

Flight model to me feels like a brick unless you are at around 40+ inches of manifold. Dosent like vertical maneuvers either. When I try to loop it it either dosent have the elevator authority to get to the top of the loop or if I can get it to the top of the loop it sticks to inverted unless I roll out of it. Flight model wise I haven’t seen a difference between the 24 and 20 native so I would say the 20 native is the way to go since you can open the canopy and they account for the pilot model being on top of a parachute (I know how uncomfortable those busker seats are with out a parachute or pad)

Honestly it feels like a bait and switch to me calling this an Inibuilds when it feels more like aeroplane heaven has done more work on this thing I will say the interior is nice (despite gauges being a mess) and some of the animations are cool. $15usd in my opinion is a bit much for this in its current state, clean it up a bit and I would say it’s worth $15
