Local Legend VII: Cessna 195 Businessliner

Do you know when to use the fuel pump (in RL) because it seems too powerful in the sim, 10psi when activated, red section start at 8 psi.
Is it a bug?

As I recall takeoff and landing and for maneuvering flight, the electrical fuel pump was turned on.

After some time I flew it today. I saw the old battery bug again. Battery is draining and is not recharged. Some minutes into the flight avionics died and I didn’t have flaps for landing.

Anyone else sees this?

I have a Cessna 190/195 Operations Manual from 1948 and USAF Flight Operating Instructions for the LC-126 from 1951, but none has an electrical fuel pump.

THe C195 had an engine driven fuel pump and when it went dead there was a gravity feed with a bypass from the tanks to the engine.

Not sure which aircraft Carenado modeled.

Thank you!

I haven’t had any alternator problems yet.

It was ok again the next day. So, not sure what it was…

The MSFS SDK one…

But, really, it’s possible there’s planes out there with an electric fuel pump… though, technically, any Cessna should be able to drink fuel pump or not given the fuel is above the engine in the wing (and assuming the plane isn’t flying upside down), though maybe it’s different for radial engine planes.

Yes, of course.

However, I was not able to find an image of a C195 cockpit with an Aux fuel pump.

I assume Carenado did not ā€œinventā€ the aux pump but has modeled a specific aircraft that was equipped with it. The question then is: did that particular aircraft still have the possibility to gravity feed its engine after the conversion?

Not knowing which aircraft was the base for the model it is tough to say what was or wasn’t done to it IRL.
The only C195 I got to fly (but not land, nobody but Joe got to do that ) did not have an electric fuel pump.
But in aviation such an additional fuel pump would usually be installed as an additional safety. To back up an engine driven fuel pump, for example. And as such that additional pump would not prevent the normal system from working.
Like a second alternator or vacuum pump, that was often installed on GA singles used for hard IFR flying.
They were not installed in such a way that it was one or the other.

I’ve been flying it lately in '24 and noticed the Airspeed Indicator is off. It reads about 10-15 extra kt that what I see on the HUD ASI and reported by Little Navmap.
Anyone else having the same issue?

I wanted this aircraft in 2024 and had to open 2020 marketplace, bought it there for approx. 11€ and then went back to 2024. It showed up immediately, but was able to activate it. Instad there was a message to restart 2024 again. So I did and looked for deactivated aircraft again. Now, the C195 was able to get activated and is downloadable. Very nice so far. I looks great in 2024.
