Local legends canada

That’s presumably as opposed to all the planes already in the base sim or added in the GoTY edition or all the other planes to be included in the Anniversary edition ?

I have no idea what you’re trying to say. The fact is every other “local legend” was made optional, you can buy it if you want or ignore it. The Beaver is apparently considered so legendary its essential.

Why don’t you answer my question?

But now I suppose the argument will be, “Oh, so they didn’t think Canada’s LL was worth paying for? smh more disrespect to Canada!”

Does that really matter? They’re taking the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.

I don’t think Microsoft, or Asobo, is disrespecting anyone. Let’s keep things in perspective. It’s a free update for a computer game. Take it and enjoy it, or don’t take it, and continue with the previous version of Canada.

The argument is it’s sloppy and disrespectful to say “here’s a plane that’s special to Canada” that basically has nothing to do with Canada, but rather just what they had lying around ready to release.

I’m happy we’re getting the Beaver for free. However, I would have gladly paid for it as the LL if that’s what it had been. And honestly, the Beaver is an iconic Canadian-made plane that has an unparalleled history in Canadian aviation - both military and civilian. It would have been a better choice and people would have bought it.

Personally, I own none of the other LL planes, so having the Cessna is no loss to me. I actually gain from it because I get the plane I would have wanted for free. It’s just that the C195 is not very representative of Canadian aviation history, even though it was used extensively in Canada. The same could be said for Boeing planes. Or Honda cars. It doesn’t make them a piece of Canadian history simply because they’re used a lot here.

It really feels like they just had to pull something out of their hat, Carenado happened to have a195 in the works, and they figured that would fit the bill. Name it a LL and work is done. And in honestly, this whole world update, including the promo video, feels like it was done this way.

They didn’t say that. They explicitly said months ago that the Beaver was going to be the Canada LL but they decided they wanted to put it in the anniversary update instead, so the plane that came out with the Canada WU wouldn’t necessarily be “Canadian.”

The end result is that everyone gets the Beaver for free and also now there’s a nice Cessna 195 for those who want one, but instead of just enjoying that we’re arguing because of arbitrary branding.

This is what releasing it as a LOCAL LEGEND is all about.

To quiote MSFS themselves from the launch of the first of these
"The team is proud to announce a new series of releases called “Local Legends” that will frequently coincide with World Updates. These aircraft are famous in the region of the world update, but often are not as well known to a worldwide audience. "
(Highlighting added by me)

I absolutely stand by Sloppy and Disrespectful.

No response to the content of the post ?

You didn’t respond to the content of mine, including direct questions. Those who are determined to have a grievance, will, and it’s not worth it for me (or for the sim devs) to try to reason with or mollify them.

Instead you’ll join my ever growing ignore list.

The corresponding Local Legend for World Update 11: Canada is the Carenado Cessna 195 Businessliner.

The Noorduyn Norseman is an iconic Canadian airplane too. Surprised it hasn’t been mentioned.

I think I mentioned it a few weeks and a few dozen posts up the thread.

They’d probably do it without floats though, even though the Norseman was designed as a floatplane first and only got a wheeled variant later.

I’m happy to get the C195 and for everyone to get the Beaver. And I’m Canadian. Yes, I would have rather gotten a real Canadian plane, the Norseman or another De Havilland or a Fleet Finch. Or the closed-cockpit Canadian Tiger Moth.

BUT, knowing the background of this – which Jorg was very straightforward and honest about – that they decided to give the awesome Canadian plane to all owners and didn’t have another northern aircraft in the queue, this is fine.

Flew the C195 from Victoria (which has a shockingly microscopic photogrammetry region) to Vancouver on my lunch break and Carenado did a nice job on it. But not including a float version is inexcusable if they’re trying to push the Canadian connection!

Gotta say, the sounds for this plane are terrible, it’s supposed to have a radial engine but sounds like a 172. They should have just taken the sounds from the Waco, rather than have it sounding like this.

Also, the usual Carenado taildragger crosswind physics are here, so it likes to veer a lot on takeoff.

Carenado didn’t have a P3D one they could quickly port across so presumably that would have required too much effort.

Wow, for someone who make pointed, maybe even bitter, possibly obsessive complaint and caught some heck for it in this thread, sure are a lot of complaints about the Cessna being the LL. I don’t think anyone is suggesting the 195 is a perfect Canadian LL, and we can agree or disagree about the decision to put the Beaver in the 40th AE update rather than as the Canadian LL, but it’s clear the swap was a reasoned and understandable swap. Yes, the Beaver is the perfect Canadian LL aircraft, but it also has a strong history with the MS Flight Sim series and being such a popular aircraft it makes a lot of sense to make it free. As a US/Canadian dualy, I would very much love to have another solidly Canadian aircraft to be released with the WU Canada, AND get the Beaver in November, but they told us this was a swap!!! So if you are super unhappy about the 195 being released now and called a LL, were you even paying attention???

Would be nice if you could get trial flights before buying. I am on the fence about the 195. It is really pretty!!! Quite a stylish bird!! And, yeah, floats may have pushed me over the edge.
