Low FPS: i9-10900k, 96gb DDR4 RAM, RTX3080, 1440p, 400mb/s Internet...Whats wrong?

9501 MHz sounds impossibly fast for DDR4 RAM on a CPU; that might be your video card’s RAM? Check the RAM configuration in the BIOS/UEFI configuration screen.

9501 MHz sounds roughly about right for the RTX 3080 mem. clock so I would also expect this to relate to the video card’s VRAM and not system RAM. I think the fastest available RAM speed is around 5000 MHz ???

I would take a look in your bios for anything to do with intel speedstep down or something like that, what motherboard do you have? exact model pls, figures of CPU temp don’t tell you much, you want to check your clock speeds when the game is running or use any software to load that CPU and report back.

Your CPU has dual channel ram controller some ram has been reported they don’t play ball even when same speed, so ideally for now I would stick with 2x32 take a look in bios if you XMP profile is ON, you running hell of a PC and shouldn’t have them problems when you set the scaling to 100, also you won’tt see more FPS if you running vsync at 30 you want to post some pictures with actual data so we can see what is going on.

I don’t get near the FPS I would expect out of my system! I should be able to smoothly run 1440p at ULTRA all day long!! I usually have the Render Scale @130, but never below 100. I shouldn’t have to with the system I run?

The Basics are:
Intel Core i9-10980XE
2X (Dual) NVIDIA TITAN RTX
Crucial 64GB Ballistix MAX RGB DDR4 RAM @4000 MHz
1400w PSU

Hi everyone,

I just want to share my experience about that kind of computer setup and the game.
I have too a rtx3080 10Go, ram 32Go,ssd new gen, i9 10900KF and on ultra, on4K, with scale to 100 and terrain to 200, I experience a avarage number of 25-30 fps (depend of airport plane etc.).
I have almost the same" issue", I wonder to have more fps, around 50…
I disable vertical sync. Set toredo Xbox network etc…
I will follow the case  hope we find a solution.
Thx Bye

Also an i9 10900 and RTX 3080 user here, and I don’t want to tease but my experience is vastly different. At almost 4k (I have a super wide 1.4k monitor almost equal to 4k in pixels), I get in simple planes and not heavy areas at least 50-60 FPS all day long. For the heaviest of airports and airliners, I will still pull 30-35 the least to date. Never ever I seen my FPS drop into 20s yet with this new system. And all this in ULTRA/max out and render scale of 100 to match my 3444x1400 monitor. Heck, I have two of these monitors and I expand the window at 1.4k resolution to make it 6888x1400 total (way more than 4k) and STILL I run 30fps for heavy scenery and all ultra. What is more important though is your FPS in vanilla scenery flying, randomly in the sky: If you don’t get there 40+ no matter what you fly, something is wrong sorry.

This goes to say to NOT give up as it is NOT ok to have just 30s FPS with such GPU and CPUs… do anything it takes, but know there is tons of power left to be given there…

Good luck.

I did the standard stuff like disable game mode, tune nvidia settings for performance, etc.

I have a 3080, 64GB RAM, PRO EVO SSD, am waiting for my new CPU…will update on my experience if that helps. I am upgrading from a Ryzen 7 3700X, and I was getting anything from 36-43 FPS generally.

Hi, I just got a new rig with 10900 and 3080, also running at 1440 wide so would expect similar results to yours, I inly have 32GB Ram but I can get everything running smoothly (over 50fps in most instances) with the slider set to 120% sampling, In a heavy jet at a busy airport it gets a bit choppy but reducing that slider to 100% fixes it.

Is it worth checking your performance somewhere else? For example , I get a score of 16500-17000 in the 3dmark timespy benchmark, how does that compare?

a note about:

setting of 30 means NOT 30fps ..

It means the first V-Sync Step, but because of a bug it is in-game the second V-Sync step. ( not sure about FreeSync ).
( See also : https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/broken-v-sync-limiter/324014/14?u=michamma )

PS: and some Free-Sync monitors do flicker if you out of its range

Similar here but with rtx 3090 and mix of ultra and high settings at 4k. Lod 200, online planes, very few airport objects and few cars, ships etc… avg fps final approach at night at a medium airport around 48fps with CJ4 or Tbm.

Hi, can you do a test for me please?

Just send a fly at any ramdom runway at LFPG (Paris Charles de Gaulle) with a A320 and report me please your fps at this area, on floor and on air.

I have the same configuration but my fps are almost 20 at the departure.
Just wana know if it s the same about you.

Random tests leads to random results.

The only way to compare is to be as specific as possible. Example:

KJFK, spawn 31L takeoff, TBM, Broken clouds preset, 12pm, external view, press F to center then move camera so airport tower in the middle of the screen. Wait 60 seconds. Make sure dev mode display FPS is on. Post a screenshot.

Now everyone can compare settings and results.

Yes and no. I just need to know how are fps (in cockpit indeed) at LFPG.

The person who I ask have the same configuration.
So I don’t mind the weather time etc.
It’s just a question about to load a flight at this area with his own parameters that he mention.
I just want to know what happend.

Thx

Similar experience to others here.

I’ve noticed that in cockpit my gpu (3080) is only at 50% usage on ultra 1440 and am getting around 40fps . Outside it jumps to 80% and the fps jumps to around 55.

It appears to be locking the gpu usage to a max of 50% inside and 80% outside. Gpu usage measured using MSI Afterburner.

why allways this airport ?.. It is a monster and mainly not comparable to 99% of the other ones. We discuessed this airport in so many threads in meanwhile..

Example:
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/solved-bug-ctd-on-load-lfpg-or-eddf-1-11-6-0/328287/22?u=michamma

Because I flight near this area in real life and I found someone who have the same spec as me and can test it.
Can I still send a request without your suspicions ?

which

?

The issues categories are just not for “performance compare discussions”.

I gave you the hint what you can expect about LFPG and that you can use forum search function to find easily other results/ posts.

PS: beside of these you have allready your own thread about your “performance issues”

Anybody else using Nvidia Titan RTX GPU with MSFS 2020? Curious about others with similar specs performance? I do have a Dual GPU setup, but have done testing with only one running.

Intel Core i9-10980XE
2X (Dual) NVIDIA TITAN RTX
Crucial 64GB Ballistix MAX RGB DDR4 RAM @4000 MHz
1400w PSU

I was asked to post FPS for LFPG with A320. I have 3440x1440 resolution and all on max/ULTRA.
-Cockpit I get 36 fps and I am Main Thread limited consistently.
-outside I get 38 fps and I am mostly GPU limited.

So 5120x1440. 49" ultrawide. Settings on ultra render scale 100. 3090 and 10900k, 64gb 3600mhz RAM I get 40-60+ fps in the prop planes.
Can’t remember for the smaller twin engine citations. But I do know most airliners give me 25-35 fps in the airports. Depending on how big. FPS generally improves as altitude increases. There are odd exeptions though where they may be higher or lower than expected for the area.
Do you think it’s possible for the devs to optimise these in the future all things considered? Sometimes it appears that there is not much CPU usage going on. Iv noticed when the cpu usage is higher I get better fps. GPU is always around 99% though.
