Mandatory update repeats
fs-base-0.1.221.fspatch.001 onwards to end.
Just these files.
All previous files went OK.
Me or them?
I have two copies (Deluxe) on the same computer. One is the store version and one is Steam. Both install slightly differently but both installed without a glitch. I have no mods or added aircraft.
Had the same problem. I rebooted and it started the update properly and from that point too. Showed 5 files to download and decompress and then it reloaded to complete installation.
Same for me. 1.8GB of 1.87GB downloaded, then went back to 0.8GB and looped like that forever.
Stopped it, restarted, then it had an 8.x GB download and that completed without issues.
Just got it. Any idea what’s in the update?
I had 4 crash to desk top 
after the update
One crash so far but it was a freeze.

Okay, crash number 2. This time just on loading it froze. I didn’t get to the menu.
I got the message on FS startup that I needed to install a mandatory update.
But there was no indication of how to do it. Looked up the FS Forum & found the 2021 topic.
This advised to start the XBox app (install it if you do not have it)
Click on the FS icon at the left hand side (click the icon not the play arrow that pops up)
This displayed a green box labeled Update Update available
This started an update but it failed giving an error code.
This error turned out to because the FS app was running displaying the Mandatory Update box.
Closed the FS app by clicking the Yes box.
Clicked on the XBox window entry that displayed the error message and the download restarted.
The D/L completed and the update installed.
Started FS again and it worked
During starting the Update check required an additional update.
Clicked on Update. Update installed - seems be be mainly airports & Australia sites - size was 1.88GB.
Scene displayed was Sydney Australia.
By the way when I restarted XBox app & clicked on FS again, XBox showed that an update was available, but clicking on that update box did nothing.
Had the mandatory update - latest version number shows, but WU 7 Australia not showing in Content manager, or anything further to download. Restarted several times. Also checked XBOX, but shows I’m up-to-date.
As with all prior World Updates, after the sim has updated itself, go to the Marketplace to “Get and Install” the free World Update pack.
Could not see much in Content Manager.
In Discovery Flights: Darwin, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney & Uluru
In Airports: about 50 additional Australian airports as listed in the Release Notes.

Yes, 7 was there in MarketPlace and I downloaded/installed. Previous W updates e.g. Japan, USA, Nordics etc. (WU 1,2,4,5,6) all show in my Content Manager and came in automatically - all showing as uninstalled, as I didn’t wish to bulk up my disk/s - when they appeared - with areas I rarely use.
I have a vague recollection that Asobo said they’re splitting Mandatory/SU’s for WUs going forward.
I’m officially locked out of MSFS.

I’ve had this happen before. Ctrl + Alt + Del click on Task Manager. Find FlightSimulator in Processes tab and click on it once and then click End task button. Relaunch MSFS and you should be given a choice to continue in normal mode or continue in safe mode, choose continue in normal mode and this time it should load all the way through to the main menu. If it gets stuck again at the loading screen kill MSFS again, relaunch, and this time choose continue in safe mode and if this time it loads all the way through to the main menu then you will need to troubleshoot what is in your Community folder which is causing the getting stuck problem.

Even if full reboot isn’t working? Will give a try.
