Too bad not for 2024…

Hello JPVann9916! Initially, the Mi-2 will be released for MSFS-2020. After that, the model will be upgraded based on the feedback of users and announced for MSFS-2024. We will try to use all the new features of the MSFS-2024 version to give our helicopter even more character. Also, the new version of the simulator will implement various modifications of Mi-2 helicopter, which by itself is very multifunctional in nature.

Really excited about this!
I spent many hours flying the Mi-2 on Arma3 (Global Mobilization mod) but having it in MSFS would be fantastic.

Any hints about the skins on release? I hope you have some Polish or Eastern Germany army ones

Looking forward for the 2024 version! Only sim I fly but I’ll wait patiently.

Thanks for the reply and information! Anytime there is a new helo in the sim I’m interested and this looks promising. Glad to hear it will be coming to 24 as well. Welcome to the sim - new helicopter developers get three stars here just for joining!

Very exciting, especially since another dev put theirs on indefinite hold, and theirs was going to be 2024 only. As a 2020 user and Soviet/Eastern European aircraft aficionado, I’m intrigued.
I do have questions:

  1. What’s your prior flight simulation portfolio? I don’t see much in terms of past FS history for this company.

  2. I found your Instagram with a few daytime exterior shots. Can you provide interior previews and an indication of what liveries will be provided at this point in time?

  3. Have you based your model on a specific example in the real world?

  4. (Extension of Q3) What access have you had to real world Mi-2 aircraft and pilots? Do you have advisors on your team?

  5. Sounds and systems: who is your sound provider? Are sounds like cockpit switches, fans, and electrical systems included and recorded from a real aircraft? Systems-wise, what “era” of Mi-2 are you representing? Will multiple avionics options be provided?

  6. Flight dynamics: realism based or meant for casual users?

  7. Will this be a “study level” aircraft or simplified? Can I run the real world checklist? Failures?

  8. Will a repaint kit be provided?

  9. How do you plan on supporting your product? Discord, forum, email?

  10. Will this be a marketplace only release or can we expect it via other vendors?

  11. The trailer says “early 2026” which could by some interpretation be anytime before July or so. Do you plan on release in the next couple of months, or longer?

  12. Are there opportunities for experienced and knowledgeable users to assist with testing?

Thanks and looking forward to this model!

Hello @Cutlass172! Thank you for such detailed questions! You definitely are informed and knowledgeable

  1. We are a startup and this is our first project.
  2. Thank you for checking out our Instagram! You will be able to see the cockpit screenshots and liveries soon. Join our Discord Server for updates!
  3. Yes, it is based on Mi-2 passenger version.
  4. We visited three operational Mi-2 Helicopters various times to collect accurate data and references. We also are in contact with two real-life Mi-2 pilots who consult us. Apart from that one of the developers in our team is a helicopter pilot and worked on flight dynamics.
  5. We invested in Sony PCM-D100 recorder for authentic sounds and when visiting the real Mi-2 helicopter recorded all possible exterior and cockpit sounds including switches, fans, and electrical systems. Unlike commercial airliners Mi-2 has a separate cockpit visualization for each specific board due to its multifunctionality and individual operating history. That’s why to present the Mi-2 helicopter model as realistic as possible in MSFS as a first step we plan to release common classic cockpit with analog control panel and common liveries without reference to a specific era. As the next step, in 2024 version we plan to add the option to independently customize the cockpit visualization by simmers themselves including new avionics options. That will give simmers the opportunity not to be attached to a certain era, livery or cockpit configuration but to choose them on their own.
  6. Realism based, using as reference Mi-2 operation manual, real-life Mi-2 pilot’s feedback and consultations.
  7. The model is study-level. We provide user manual with real-procedure check-list based on real-life Mi-2 operational manual. In the course of development, we have identified for ourselves two types of failures - system failure in the event of improper pilot actions and accidental system failure caused by a technical malfunction or environmental impact. Due to the difference in capabilities of MSFS versions, only the first option will be implemented for version 20, and both for 24.
  8. Yes, the coming model will have paint kit.
  9. That is a good question! Thank you for asking! We appreciate the feedback and believe that it will help make our model even better! For support please refer to our website’s Customer support page Support - Digital Aeronautics , Product Support section will be available once the Mi-2 will be released. Also in coming weeks we will create channels in our Discord server for bug report, client support, feedback and user ideas for improving our product line.
  10. We are not in the Microsoft Marketplace Partner Program … yet. Our application has been in review since October 2024. In the meantime we plan to sell via other marketplaces.
  11. What you saw was a teaser, trailer will be released later. The model itself is planned for release in the next couple of months.
  12. Thank you for your interest. For now we have gathered a group of testers already.

Hope that covers your questions

Thanks for both the Questions and Answers! And welcome @digitalaero6606 - may you find as much success as Taog did when he started on flightsim.to! Looking forward to the 2024 version - sounds like you have a great handle on things already!

Hello @Haddock161! Thank you for your comment! The release version will have liveries of some countries of Eastern Europe (except Poland) and former Soviet Union. Due to the problem of cockpit and livery compliance, the Polish version with its liveries will also be available, but a bit later with first updates.

It’s a shame this isn’t coming to DCS as well

Hello @ngreenaway ! Currently our main goal is Mi-2 for MSFS and military version is planned as well in the near future within the capabilities of the simulator. Wrt DCS model at the moment we estimate this probability as low, but we definitely do not exclude it completely.

I’m sure it is low. From what I hear, DCS isn’t easy to program for, there’s more things you need to include (a damage model, for example), a smaller user base and distribution taking a larger cut, I can honestly see the juice just isn’t worth the squeeze for a lot of people, but still it’s an environment I wish I could fly the mi-2 in much more than msfs

Echoing what others have said, this is a great chopper for the sim and definitely a buy from me - once there’s a 2024 version.

May want to reverify the font on the tail numbers. Doesn’t look the same as the real deal, with the real numbers also being stenciled with multiple stencils making up one digit, with lines between them being visible.

Hello @Cutlass172 ! Thank you for the comment! We are aware of the problem, however in the MSFS-2020 version there are difficulties in integrating custom fonts which forces us to choose one of the 2 options: 1) to paint tail numbers as custom fonts and lay them as textures (so they cannot be modified by users) OR 2) use default fonts of MSFS to provide the option to change the tail number (the one on the picture above). At the moment none of the options has been chosen for sure so you comment is right on time! It would be interesting to know which option would be chosen by the users? Having said that perhaps we have missed something in the MSFS-2020 SDK and we would be grateful for any recommendations from the community on how to set an adjustable custom tail number.
