Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Coming to Sony PlayStation 5

Not only that, some have to be reminded to add platform tags.
I think that should be required the way adding the sim version tag is. Or at least strongly reminded…

I rally hope this brings positives and not dilute the existing platforms

It must not be Asobo that does the port alone. Maybe they have help from specialists in that field.

Hello @PJKGames,

The PS5 and PS5 Pro release date for MSFS2024 is December 8, 2025. PlayStation players who pre-order the Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, or Aviator Editions will receive five days of early access starting on December 3.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Oh whoops sorry Seedy, was referring to the fancier career missions! My bad on not making that clear!

Looking forward to the PlayStation wave of new forum users complaining that the trailer looks nothing like what they have and the premium delux content half finished

I wouldn’t use any trailer for any game ever as an indicator of actual things you can do in the game, at least at launch - this is true of the original MSFS 2024 trailers and virtually every other game ever.

I have weirdly mixed feelings about this, although I’ve suspected it would be coming for a while.

A bit of background: I started of as a PC flight simmer that eventually financially couldn’t keep up with the hobby - FS2004 was my last sim.

I bought a PS3 and then PS4 and PSVR and was basically just a ‘gamer’. Then when FS2020 was announced I sold the PS stuff and got a Series X purely for MSFS. Since then I’ve had four years of simming on console, have amassed well over a grands worth in add-ons, flight yoke, pedals etc.

Seeing the sim come to PS5 doesn’t bother me - the more users in our hobby, the better, and I’ve had all this time back in the sim space that I wouldn’t have, had I remained a PlayStation user. What does sit kind of funny is that it’s looking like the Xbox users will now be the only ones to have no access to VR in the sim, as Microsoft has consistently said that the technology wasn’t where it needed to be in the console space. They are now, though, committing to bringing VR support to another console platform.

I do intend at some point to move back to PC, so won’t be selling the xbox and rushing to buy a PS5 ( the yoke etc. wouldn’t work anyway), but it does feel like a little bit of a kick in the teeth for those of us that supported this gen of xbox in it’s early days.

I’ll be honest, psvr2 flopped kinda hard on the ps5… this might be the only game on that console that psv2 is actually worth having for (at which point just get a PC and use a psv2 on that instead, or a wmr headset for cheap since those work again)

I would think another / fresh revenue stream is good for the accountants across all fronts and in turn funds future development, etc…

On the other hand…. I’m still holding off on 2024 on PC for a variety of reasons, can’t imagine the struggle it’ll be trying to make this work as advertised across 3 platforms now when it hasn’t been achieved across 1, let alone the two already out there.

But I will be happy to be proved wrong while I eat my humble pie

Happy to see more people joining our great hobby.

But yeah I kinda feel that mixed emotions feeling lol, it’s a little weird seeing pretty much everything i play all of a sudden be on a different console… my solution of course was to recklessly spend money and now I primarily just use PC for pretty much anything bar certain fps games because I use controller and pc lobbies are terrible

The only historical exceptions were Rockstar Games trailers.

Everything else is always to be considered simply marketing material, set up in an cinematic way.

More people to grow the hobby means more friends to fly with! Give them a warm welcome guys. The industry really needs it. Hardware manufacturers, 3rd party developers, and content creators could use a boost in motivation after this past year. Esp with 2024 finally starting to shape into something truly worthy of the MSFS title and it’s lineage.

Eh there’s more than that tbh (hifi-rush [rip], generally speaking all of the Forza Horizon games), but yeah grain of salt and all.

At least PS5 users will get rescue missions that work!

Does this mean that, as developers, we’ll need to purchase a PS5 for testing before we can release our products on the platform, similar to the current requirement for Xbox?

I really hope that this launch will be a fluent experience for everyone involved.

The November release of MSFS 2024 was rough and clearly not ready, but what matters now is that the PlayStation community doesn’t go through the same frustrations. A smooth launch on PS5 (Pro) would not only give new players a great first impression, it would also benefit the entire sim community. More people sticking around, more enthusiasm, and ultimately more strength for the sim as a whole.

It’s a fantastic achievement to bring MSFS to PlayStation at all, and I give the teams credit for making that happen. Now I just hope the lessons from last time have been learned, because a polished launch here would lift everyone up.

We’ll have more info to share about Marketplace addon products (info pertinent to both PS5 simmers and to third-party developers) in the future.

Thanks,
MSFS Team
