Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 General Feedback

If Asobo/Microsoft is reading this thread…

Please fix the trees. This is urgent.

Way too many trees in random locations (no use of IA to detect trees)

Photogrammetry trees are totally broken this is a disaster…

Bilbao for example, but same almost everywhere…

My kid was thrilled about the career mode in MSFS 2024, so we decided to give it a try during the holidays. Despite frequent CTDs and countless other bugs, we stuck with it and gave it a shot.

When we realized the career mode required grinding hours on the C172 just to progress—he wanted to start a private charter company—I took it upon myself to grind those flights overnight so he could play the part he was excited about.

Finally, after accumulating enough in-game money to make it happen, we ran into this rookie bug. I went to the forums to check the atmosphere and see if others were experiencing the same issues. What I found was shocking.

I read through other topics and threads and even shared my frustration in the bug report thread, knowing it was off-topic and against the code of conduct. My intention was simply to drive attention to the thread in hopes that someone from Microsoft or Asobo would see how dire the situation truly is.

Microsoft marketed the career mode as the main selling point of this game. Yet they released it in a state where this key feature, meant to draw in new players, is completely broken. If they chose to release it in this state, they should have been prepared for the inevitable backlash by patching game-breaking bugs on a daily basis. Instead, just look at the forums—you can see the mess for yourself.

This feels like a massive middle finger not only to loyal customers who’ve been there since the beginning but also to newcomers.

Wow. :man_facepalming: I heard people spend many hours/days on this for MSFS 2024 - to have to do that every update is a deal breaker alone, despite all the streaming LOD issues and bugs. MSFS 2020 the controller always worked, from day one, although I started playing that in September 2020, so it was a few weeks old, but never had an issue in MSFS 2020.

I’ll continue to monitor the forums until MSFS 2024 gets its act together. I’ll happily purchase Premium Deluxe and possibly Aviator when it does. Until then, I’ll enjoy MSFS 2020.

If you have steam version or payed by paypal request a payback.
This state is kind of a fraud. Career was promised, since days it is a one way to not working.
It is released '24 and then they closed the doors. Ofc it’s vacation season and everyone has the right to take days off but as a “Microsoft” I would’ve expect there is some quality control. If not, then have to have a backup. Or use the early access, where people don’t put 100rds in a unfinished game(mode).

Try to get you money back and take the 2020 with add ons. Think your kid gonna like it and the community is great (as here too, it’s the same). On some ways you can have real people give you ATC and if he is in aviation he gonna like it for sure.

2024, I’m sorry, I love MSFS but if you want the career mode, it’s simply a loss…

One minute they are great then changes happen the next time. At the moment something has been changed and simbreif is messed up. The stock planes are in worse shape than the 2020 ones I have moved.

At this point we should all be on the payroll at Microsoft and Asobo. We were handed a mess and have to show them the way to clean it up. After a few bug reports, I just gave up reporting them. I don’t have enough time to report everything wrong with this.

About a month since my last feedback. Still missing some of my favorite local legends, famous flyers and other marketplace content. Some people seem to have the ones I am missing but others do not.

Caranardo aircraft are still so half backed, your still at risk of serious food poisoning.

That’s always happened, in FS20 as well.

It wouldn’t be so bad if I only had to reset my keyboard, throttle and stick once. But I have to do each aircraft individually. I have tried to find a way to create a universal control profile but, if that exists, I sure haven’t been able to find it.
I’m tempted to just uninstall the whole thing and wait six months to try it again. I’m totally frustrated.

Sadly, the game is obviously not yet fit for release. Unless you stick to short freeflights and do nothing else within the game, you are in for a torrid time with the bugs and CTDs.

I realise this is very limiting, but doing otherwise makes you more of an unpaid beta tester, instead of a game player.

It was said a thousand times that release came to early, so while agreeing with all that I won’t add up to this.

My feedback in general:

I mostly converted my sim-experience to 2024. So I guess that around 90% of my flying time is now in the new one. I am mainly a VFR or “utility” flyer, so the whole airliner hustle is no real thing for me and 2024 can shine with its new engine and look.

What I would like to be fixed as quick as it can possibly be done:

  • external Lights visibility
  • Avionic lights inside to bright (panel backlights etc.)
  • AI traffic not really working/existent; air and sea

These three issues are a serious immersion killer. Apart, there are of course a lot of issues with the various default aircraft that hopefully get ironed out. The most 3rd party addons with importance to me are thankfully running fine.

I am somehow unhappy with the control setup, and I think it is buggy, too. I wished they would have just copied the way it works in X-Plane, that is imho the most intuitive way to do it.

Performance-wise the whole LOD-system should be worked on, the in and out popping counts onto the immersion-killing.

I am shocked at how poor the out-of-the-box experience is for the Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flight Stick. This is one of a handful of official licensed accessories for Xbox whose primary reason for existing is for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Despite this, it seems like minimal to no effort was put in to making this peripheral have the kind of plug-and-play experience that it should. This should be no different than plugging in an official licensed racing wheel into my Xbox and playing Forza. Everything should just work and currently it absolutely doesn’t. I do appreciate that the December update fixed some of the most egregious issues like having pitch controls reversed by default, but even with that, it is still a terrible experience. This was even an issue in 2020, but somehow it got worse in 2024 and I can’t imagine why. Here’s the way it should work:

  • The H1 hat should act as a directional pad just like in the XboxOS menus with the A, B, X, Y buttons all mapped as expected. This way users can navigate menus easily without having to use their gamepad. (Currently it is impossible to navigate menus with the flight stick buttons, nothing works)
  • There should be an easily accessible visual reference in game for all the default controls that allows a user to see what they should expect the controls to be on a single engine, twin engine, etc. Not just a picture with numbers on it like in the current settings screen.
  • All controls in the flight stick should be mapped to something logical and work as expected. The dedicated trim wheel should adjust the trim, the flaps control should control flaps (on single engine), etc. (Currently many controls remain unmapped and non functional such as trim)

I don’t feel like this is an unreasonable expectation for Xbox players when you consider that this was one of just two products mentioned on Xbox Wire in November as being made specifically for MSFS 2024: Designed for Xbox Flight Peripherals, Cleared for Take-Off on November 19 - Xbox Wire

I feel like this was a major oversight and missed opportunity for the dev team especially considering it’s been 4 years since the first game was released. This should just be a matter of mapping buttons. If I’m missing something and it’s way more complicated than I think, then please let me know, but I feel like it can’t be that hard right?

It seems as if Microsobo have deserted us. The last announcement from anyone was over two weeks ago. Is there going to be an update? iniBuilds apparently provided Microsoft with A330 updates weeks ago. When is the next Dev Q&A? Is there a date? I find the silence deafening.

It’s Christmas and New Years, most of Europe is not going back to work till Tuesday.

But i agree that in this “special” (not to say “catastrophic”) situation, some additional communication on what the plan is would’ve been nice.

Well I think Microsoft has a few employees in the USA (e.g. Jorg) and Canada (e.g. SeedyL) where people generally go back to work on January 2nd. And when I was working and we had a crisis on our hands all leave was cancelled.

Or climb to F L 3 6 0. Or land on 35 L . And responses take the AI So long. Keypresses dont work.

Perhaps they see this as business as usual — no crisis.

I’m also a bit worried about this!

To be fair, people have been really RAGING about various aspects of the sim for over 4 years… I hope they realize it’s truly different this time.
