Well, im a little disappointed. But we should give MS time for the optimisation and fixing the first Bugs.
It took very long time to load, the first time.
Now the most initial files are cached and it starts faster.
My Track IR is not recognized, yet.
I tried many times a free flight with the standard Cessna 172 but without success.
I see the earth from above that’s all.
Bandwidth too low, but I don’t believe it.
So, I’m waiting for my first flight
I was fortunate to get in last night. Started in the queue at 2230z, loading/packages screen at 0005z, and in the sim at about 0025z. Pretty much zero problems throughout the next six hours. Performance was really good, much better than I got in MSFS2020. Focus was on GA, some bush flying and digging into the ground features and walkaround modes.
Location: US. Internet speed: ~600GB down. Specs: RTX 4070 Ti Super, settings maxed at ultra. i9 10850k
I hosted a six hour stream and wrote a very lengthy debrief of my first impressions.
In short: there is good and bad. When it’s working right, it’s great. Ran into some bugs for sure. There’s still a lot of incorrect aviation application held over from the last sim, as expected. But I didn’t get a lot of the really poor LOD loading and major errors that others are seeing. Just a few times when the LOD was a bit blurry in the distance (again, not much different than what I would sometimes get in 2020 when servers were bogged down).
If this is the baseline, server issues aside, this is going to be a great platform as it gets consistent updates and third parties really get hold of the features!

Well after a day of testing…
Smooth VR when it works, less fps but smoother (? Direct X12 I think…), in any case I really liked the one hour flight with my quest 2.
Lots of crashes, FS2024 freezes, and I almost can’t do 3 flights in a row without crashing the sim, including a big freeze of the PC itself, which hadn’t happened to me yet with FS2020.
I put my marinas addons and the electric batteries, it works.
Spadnext works.
My 2 Dof chair which works with Flyptmover works well too!
He just got me back some planes that I had under fs2020, but not all of them yet?.. I have the impression that they are doing it little by little…
The trees are always too big!
On the other hand, the rivers are finally flat!
The clouds are really better now as well as the general color of the sky (the weather was bad at home so I tested it and I was quite amazed, very nice result!).
There you go, so still a lot of work for Asobo in perspective…
Xbox Gamepass for 2024, own 2020 ex PC flyer.
I downloaded yesterday 19th finally was able to fly this morning. ignoring first day cloud problems, UI complicated and i feel not user friendly. hit and miss if you can get to start a flight. mouse bugs and glitching models. no visual conformations of key bindings , just dont feel in control. All i want to do is fly and have fun , not Beta test something that has been released too early.
uninstalled, maybe be back in 2025. you will find me having fun in 2020.
where the he-ll are the animals?
i have looked around and i even used the photography mode to locate some
i cant find ANY animals so far
no sheep
no bears
no mooses
no tigers
nothing.
also no ships!
where are the real time ships?
see a bunch of oil rigs though…

9 hours of gameplay in total, or 9 hours of looking at login screens
You made an online game without making servers to support it.
The team has not opened the polls yet as they know of the difficulties we all had logging in. They want to give us more / ample time to actually experience the sim before they are overwhelmed with day one bad impression votes. They’ll open in a day or two I assume. Give it time.

really? i will do the same… thanks
You mean enough people to give up?
Cause from where we are sitting, the server issues are not getting resolved or are improving

Hi,
with all respect, but i prepaid around 140€ ! ,
so far for …
- a software that took hours to load not even completely yesterday
- a success this morning (6:00GMT, AM) in loading and at least customizing my identity
- one single flight of an unflyable A320 with not loading the entire cockpit after 15 min(!) waiting time from selection of free flight to loading the scenario
- endless bandwidth warnings (I checked it: on my side i had 100MB/sec. download capacity continuously)
- learning, that essential features are even not available yet (e.g. downloading content instead of streaming)
- wondering what on earth made you folks think, a universal kick off would be a good idea instead of an e.g 05:00PM launch in each time zone
- for realizing, you were aware of the main problems coming and
- then wondering how you want to cope with ruining the only chance you had to make a first impresion to millions of customers
- finally making my peace with the situation and continue flying MSFS 2020 from now on.
To be honest, I am fortunately in a position, that 140€ will not be a deep cut into my budget, but for some (younger) folks it posiibly might or will definetly be a deep cut.
Show the courage and offer a reimbursement of the price for the time being until you solved the main problems !!
Thank you for listening/reading,
best regards, W.

Lies! All lies!!!
Jorg Neumann said our planes from 2020 will be ported in 2024.
I paid for 2020 Premium Deluxe which includes the Baron, Longitude, Cirrus SR22 (only planes I cared about). Yet, these planes are not in my “hangar” in 2024. This is why I only paid for Standard edition of 2024. Also, not all P-51s are there. Not all T-6s are there from Reno package that I also paid for.
Microsoft should honor what they say they are going to do.
Ok I am finally figuring out how to program the Thrustmaster HOTAS 4 profile for the controller. I do like that there is a ton more profile configs for controllers to make it how you want it. But I would suggest 2 things. One you should have the ability to load a standard controller config file for your controller. Maybe even with the older 2020 you could have a export profile config and then a import of the profile config, that would be nice. I would have the team create a YouTube video on proper configurations of controllers and what all the options mean, there is a lot. Maybe a button to dumb it down and then make it smart again with all the option, but I do love how it is more sophisticated. Also it looks like there is a scanning bug for all the buttons on the HOTAS 4.0 communications, this would help if it would find all the button and maybe a startup config with the most common like in the 2020 version. Product looks very good. Will be testing the new Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke this evening to see how that is work. Thank You

I cant help thinking if instead of this “new” sim if they had put the effort into upgrading 2020, that would have helped us all. They said they couldnt do anymore with the lighting , weather and terrain but there are so many things in 2020 that would benefit from some work.

I would have thought the Local Legends and all the other aircraft would have been converted to 2024? My favorite of those, the Beech 18 has no walk around functionality, chocks, etc
I think this thread is rather illuminating. This has clearly been a train wreck (plane crash?) of a launch and aside from nonsense advice to reboot if you get stuck at 97% and a short video yesterday offering an excuse for one specific server problem, there has been a deafening silence from MS and Asobo.
Instead what we see are feedback polls being disabled, because if people can’t vote to show their displeasure, it doesn’t really exist, right? Even that wasn’t done in an honest way, with the pretext being to “allow more time with the sim” as opposed to the real reason that the results would be overwhelming negative like the steam feedback.
People have compared this to the Cyberpunk 2077 release, although that one was frankly not nearly as bad as this, but did have similar sky-high expectations and large fan base. The difference in attitude is striking, though; CD Projekt Red in that case engaged with the community, resolved to fix all of the problems in a timely manner and did so, to the extent that by the time their DLC came around several years later, it had very positive feedback. Here we just have radio silence and denial and so the fiasco continues. It’s that very attitude problem that led to the game knowingly being released in this condition in the first place.

I was trying to setup my controllers, etc. in the Bonanza. If you start in a parking space, you do not automatically enter Pilot’s seat upon opening the door. Not sure how to change the camera because it already shows Cockpit view.
I got a CTD when changing livery for an airplane. Not good.

Is this what rain really looks like in 2024…
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024-2024_11_20-16-43-19.mp4
It looks really awful on my TV.
My thoughts exactly. It’s not like showing me my dog and cat… why anyone would think this is important is beyond me. Sucking resources.
I’m able to get logged in today more consistently but the game is crashing whenever I try to select ‘helicopter’ in the free flight aircraft menu.
Also the R66 is selected by default, but then not present in the list. Switches to C404 courier when you click the menu…
