I don’t understand why I can’t just fly my own plane somewhere else without having a mission and having to pay someone else to do it.
Like why can’t I just buy some fuel, and go fly it to another airport on my own?
That’s exactly what Free Flight is - uncontracted travel and transit of both you and your plane to the next job location.
I prefer to skip that part for now, since I just want to experience the different challenges offered by the Career “contracted” missions. Even the SAR missions that aren’t “bugged” provide a slightly different, engaging, and new experience in the various locations so far for me.
So far though, I’ve only done Free Flight 3 times, and that’s only to confirm I can still fly the Taog Huey whenever and wherever I want too - once after each 2024 update.
I’m talking about repositioning your own plane for career mode, not free flight. They are two different game modes.
Free Flight (relocation):
- Choose departure and destination
- Check fuel and weight
- Fly your plan
Career Mode (contracted):
- Select the job location
- Check fuel and weight
- Fly the plan
Maybe they modelled it where companies embed the cost of asset relocation within price of contract completion (of mission). However, I can see why you want to see the game cover your costs upfront for going to the next “mission”. It seems people (in the MSFS Aviation industry) demand upfront compensation and prestige boosts for just showing up and being ready for work. 
It would be a great future option to embed the functionality of doing what you suggested in the future. Personnally, I want to open locations so I can at least have more choices of missions to play. I invest my earnings in just clicking on the new location for a small credit fee to “open that market” of available missions. I want to ensure I have an ample selection of missions in different locations to choose from when I can play this game.
Until then, the only way to see the missions is that you’ve already have had to been there. I want to fly and experience missions everywhere. It would take too long to have to open all the markets by flying there, when there is no guarantee there is a job waiting at the new location.
For now, I just want to jump in and experience something challenging and slightly different. And I want to be able to get there upon login to the Career System with a single click and nominal fee.
I’m simply saying why do I need to pay a fictional someone in the career mode system $10k to fly my airplane to the airport where the mission starts, versus just paying for fuel and flying it there myself.
I interpreted the nominal cost to clicking on the airport I wanted to relocate too to be just that.
I never questioned the cost because I figured I’d include lodging, dry cleaning, meals, per diem, rental car, and the cost of entertaining and meeting new customers in that nominal fee we pay and write off later. I don’t even have keep track of the receipts for my Human Resources/Ethics Division to scrutinize.
The game just saves me all the time in having to do all of that, which I am super thankful for. I just want to fly. 
I have bought almost all companies in the quarry except agroculture and cargo helicopter. But I can’t do them because they just aren’t on the map. A lot of photo and cargo, a few medical, and the rest as if they don’t exist. there is not a single VIP mission for medium aircraft, very rarely for small ones. There is not a single search mission. Only photos and cargo.
I don’t have a single mission generating for me anywhere in South America right now
This has also been my observation. Companies are utterly useless and actually a major setback, yet without them - what’s the point of earning lots of money other than for certs?
The only way at the moment to get an enjoyable “career” mode is to grind until you can start your first company. Get your cheap 172 and spam flightseeing until you get a few hundred K then immediately sell your 172 and return to just being an employee.You won’t make much money after that but you’ll have made enough to unlock every cert and fly any mission with any plane, Never return to Freelance after that.
As an employee, you get to fly anything anywhere and still get all the meat of freelance mode(actually flying the missions) and none of the unseasoned fat (bills bills bills, no work).

It’s unfortunate that SAR, Construction, Medivac, end especially Aerial Firefighting is embedded in the career mode single player - ALL of the fun aviation activities have to be unlocked (albeit it doesn’t take that long to unlock them).
I am quickly losing interest in the Company part of the game, now that I have most of the missions I want to fly unlocked as well as most of the regions I want to fly them in.
Wow you’ve been really dedicated to unlocking the map! I don’t have anywhere NEAR that much of the area unlocked. I just have 4 sections, around popular cities but they are all cities you’d expect to have missions to do; Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, and Buenos Aires
EDIT: Also I was referring to Freelancer missions for my companies. I do have employee missions available around Barcelona and Buenos Aires.
Some real life Career/Business ideology applies within the games design:
Establish your business… where you want and intend to do business. Yes, it does take some time and effort to do so.

You can search for any airport that is blocked and right click on it and then set fast travel. That’s it, you now have that area unlocked.
yes I know but its still a lot of “work” to unlock a whole continent like they did.
Forget this game exists.
It is literally unplayable [Career]. All those missions you see that I posted above. I have maybe been able to launch and play maybe 3 of them. Everything else is an immediate crash to desktop or total hard reboot, or an immediate mission failure due to crashing the plane on spawn in.
Save yourself from the frustration. Do something else.
You know you can just jump around unlocking stuff, yes? Just zoom in on an airport and then jump to it anywhere on the map. I didn’t realize that till I saw someone youtube point that out.

There is absolutely something fishy going on with mission generation. Normally my Employee map is predominantly cargo missions, flightseeing, and ferry flights. Today I logged in and nearly every mission is a skydiving mission?
It almost feels to me like there are actually far more missions in the system than we realize but they aren’t surfacing properly. Like some missions are blocking others or something, and this time I just saw all the skydiving ones that are normally hidden because whatever
Most of my available landbased SAR (employee) missions went away after I did the introductory mission for Medevac. Now I have lots of Medevac and almost no SAR missions (landbased non-hoist).
I’ll have to see if SAR missions will regenerate after a while.
No longer have any freelance missions apart from Cargo and it’s now saying that I’ve not completed Sky diving, VIP Charter, Sight Seeing gold missions
I’ve just noticed that its showing that I’ve not done the VIP mission in France which I’ve previously completed!! Screenshot below shows completed charter flights from yesterday.
It’s also showing that I’ve not done the sky diving mission which I’ve also previously completed so something strange is going on.
